Hello, thank you so much for these tips!! Wonderful! I'd love to make a 6" heart shaped cake. What size cake pan do you reckon I should use using your first method 'cut-around' cake? Thank you

A 6" cake would make a heart that's 6 inches wide at it's widest point. It would fit perfectly on an 8" cake board. If you want it to be a bit bigger you could use an 8" cake but then you'd need a 10" cake board
