This trailer is legit. I come from a background of 31 years building government / military mobile communications vehicles. These vehicles / trailers range anywhere from 300k to 3 million dollars for one build. The cabinetry and exterior design of this trailer is very close to what we have built in the past and from what i see in this video just bumping thru it, this a quality rig. Id love to crawl around under it and see it up close. The material and labor costs / quality control are very high on a rig like this. I know people are going to bash the price range but they have no idea what go's into something like this. Id love to work with them. They hiring? HaHa

This vid. has only been up for 3 hrs. and I see alot of negative comments on a great product. Quality has gone to shit in all aspects of just about all industries. It is a breath of fresh air to see this couple putting together an amazing product. The cost is what it is. If you want the best your going to have to pay good money for it. With that being said , some here are saying it's for the 1% . This may be true but if you want one become part of the 1% as this couple did. If you listened to the interview you would realize that these two did not come from a silver spoon but worked really hard to get to the point that they are now, remodeling one trailer at a time. How about we look at the good we see instead of trying to make things as negative as we possibly can.

JD, thanks for reviewing this trailer and the wonderful owners of the Living Vehicle. I became aware soon after their launch on KZfaq. I’ve owned 5 RVs and never satisfied with quality and function. This product has addressed my imaginations of a great RV. I been shopping for my next RV and I think I have found it in the Living Vehicle. Nothing is more expensive than poor quality for a temporary fix. Thanks again.

Personally I think the difference between RV's and Living Vehicle is starts with the name. It is a LIVING Vehicle, not a Recreational Vehicle. I could/would be the home you live in, not something you take out once or twice a year for a week or two. But, as happens with very high end cars, the ground that is broken here eventually works its way down.

my current and 3rd RV is an ATC 28' trailer. The all aluminum trailer concept is a bit utilitarian. It is also the most trouble/worry free experience and lowest cost of ownership I have had in my 8 years of nomadic living. the LV is addressing the biggest shortcoming I have with my ATC (temperature control). an aluminum box gets very hot and cold. If I had a LV, I could stay places longer with fewer compromises in comfort. as for the price... it is a lot for a trailer obviously, but I have spent as much on a Class A. The trailer has a lower cost of ownership, will weather coastal locations better, I expect less depreciation and a much better boondocking home (no more mice sneaking in!). My ATC is the only rv I can sell today for the same price I paid for it 2 years ago, because the all aluminum trailer is built to last for generations and there really isn't much mfg deference from a 2021 vs a 2023 model. I suspect the LV secondary market is similar.

These are as well built as they get, but to be honest, it doesnt even look comfortable to sit in. I dont need steel drawers, its not a tool box. Just my opinion, thanks for all the great videos. Companies that use "military grade" in any form of advertising clearly don't know how bad military grade anything is. They use the lowest bidder for a reason. They probably also couldn't describe what makes it "military grade" if they were challenged to tell you. This stuff is exponentially better than military grade.

The LV is designed for off-grid and sustainable right?. Two questions. First: Would LV upgrade to an electric incinerator toilet to eliminate the black tank altogether and substitute it for another fresh water tank maybe? Second: could the trailer ball be replaced with an articulating hitch for traversing less than desirable terrain? Other than that, I love quality work done on a made in America product rather than just cutting quality for saving a few bucks.

Being prior military... specifically. Navy Submariner... I cringe every time I hear "Military Grade" .... prior Vets know what I'm talking about... everything we get in the military comes from companies that won contracts because they were the lowest bidder... and cut corners with just about every aspect of that contract to save a buck... at the expense of service member that has to depend on that piece of gear. You might want to tell those nice folks to go easy on that term "military grade" instead... say top quality materials were sourced. But these folks did an outstanding job in the forethought and construction of their products.

How woukd these units fair with regards to Aluminum oxidation?
@joannahofmann4570
@joannahofmann4570 11 ай бұрын
Fantastic! The skin is anodized, which is an electromechanical process. This means the oxidation process has been forced instead of allowing it to evolve naturally over time which preserves the condition of the skin. The oxidized layer on the exterior is the barrier that protects the aluminum itself. Anodized aluminum is 6 times more durable than uncoated aluminum.

Are you good with only an 8 inch beam, I would think they would do 10 or better
@LivingVehicle
@LivingVehicle 11 ай бұрын
This is a great question! A 10 or even 12 inch A-frame aluminum tube wouldn’t be sufficient. The result would only lower the chassis closer to ground, decreasing ground clearance. This is one area where we need the hybrid construction of aluminum + steel to achieve the high strength structural solution. Embedded within the section of the rectangular A-frame tube is a high strength coated steel plate from the coupler back to the chassis. This is one of the main stress points that requires use of steel, and allows us to reduce the overall depth of the chassis. -Matthew, LV

So love the work that went into creating these mobile homes I think they’re fantasticly well built, and really that’s what everybody’s looking for something that’s built well that’s going to last a long time and is very durable. Unfortunately a lot of people aren’t going to be able to afford them me included I’ve been working for 30 years in the telecommunication world and the cost of this is close to what I have coming out into my retirement. I would’ve had a lot more. Unfortunately the government takes a big old share of what I made through the years. So maybe that’s what you’re looking for build for the rich they have a lot more disposable income. Maybe you could not make one that lasts 100 years but last 50 years cut the price in half and compete with airstream then I would be truly interested, until then good luck. Hope you make lots of money selling your product, which is very nice unfortunately way way too expensive!!

Actually what it means is that Military and most Public Sector organization write up a lengthy and extremely detailed RFP (request for proposal) that outline every single detail and requirement for a project. This can include granular details about required materials to be used, their life cycle requirements, as well as engineered specs. Then, the company who can produce it at the quality specified and the volume needed proceeds to the next phase of selection. Before a contract is awarded, years of oversight and scrutiny generally take place. That's how Government development and purchasing happens.. I live this everyday.

Living Vehicle has been in business for over 6 years and going strong. We've evolved our product year after year based on feedback from our customers that are living in the vehicles. Lots of options out there, but we are not going anywhere; We're going to continue to innovate and encourage a higher standard in the RV industry across all price points. Cheers!

I'm somewhat disappointed in you These people have a very good idea. If you endorse this I will be very disappointed in you, I wouldn't tow this without my F450...or, at all.

Not interested -- very ugly and cold. This does not function the way I would want my moving home to function. It is more like a mobile prison. 😮😅😢
