Bondstrike is quickly becoming my favorite bullet. It’s some good 💩and paid 50 bucks less a box vs nosler accubond long range in my 300wsm it’s hard to beat

You’re opening up a whole new level of understanding with these tests, for guys like me who for years have suspected bonded bullets are too hard for lighter framed game at longer ranges. I guess this comes from using old school bonded designs that didn’t open up sufficiently for clean killing, and tended to blow straight through longer range game and leave a narrow wound, same as swaged monolithics do. The expansion at range with this design is fantastic and I’d be very keen on trying these on our red deer in .30 cal. If only we could get them!

It's crazy what some of the modern bullet designs can do, and unfortunate that Norma isn't selling these everywhere!

Speer Gold Dot is a high BC bonded VLD style with a rebated Boat tail that's plated not jacketed. This bullet is designed for tactical use but if you test the velocity impacts in the lower ranges, you might be surprised how well they expand and still hold together at low velocities.

I'm a big fan of Norma ammunition. I have factory Norma ammo in 243 Win, 308 Win, 7 mm Rem Mag and 300 Win Mag and I have to say the Norma ammo always shoots the best in my guns. Muzzle velocity isn't always the highest but I can consistently get sub-moa performance from Norma ammo in nearly all my rifles. I couldn't get my hands on bondstrike ammo during the great ammo shortage of 2020 but I did manage to buy lots of .308 caliber bondstrike bullets from Norma at that time. I also managed to get an RCBS reloading kit and I figured I would eventually get around to loading Norma bondstrike bullets in my 308 Win and 300 Win Mag cases. I just wish Norma would bring their 7 mm bondstrike bullets to the North American market.

I used this in its factory 30-06 loading on a an adult whitetail doe at 50 yards. Hard quartering to shot, bullet went in just in front of the shoulder blade, jellifying the lungs, (heart untouched) and the liver had many tears in it from the hydraulic shock, and left a fist size hole in the back of the opposite ribcage. I found damage along the skirt meat and traced that to the rear ham, where the bullet jacket was found lodged just inside the rear quarter. It shed its core and the jacket retained enough momentum to ride the meat just under the skin until it contacted a solid muscle group. Deer ended up running about 100 yards before expiring. You can see on the jacket where the bonding on that particular bullet took unevenly. Lead still adheared in some places and bare copper in others.

'Hennifer' would be pleased with the performance of this bullet! Interestingly, the velocity of your load at 500 yards is the same as my 308 Winchester at 35 yards! I would really love to see how this bullet would perform at around 1850 fps. Which would be about 400 yards out of my rifle. Thank you for your work!
@phild9813
@phild9813 Жыл бұрын
I agree. I think it might hold together and penetrate better out of the 308 due to less expansion and material loss. I think the “Bondstrike” name is a bit misleading, as this bullet seems to act like a traditional cup and core. Would probably work well at longer ranges too.

By no means am I a sharp shooter. But out of my T3 with meopta scope with 30-o6 Norma 150gr. whitetail. I feel like one. I can get quarter size, 4 shot groups at 150 yards. This was done when the barrel was the hottest. Core-lok federal power-shock and Winchester w black plastic tips 1 1/2” groups. About same. Military surplus grande ammo 3” groups. Shot with the barrel cold. Norma is well worth the money. Took the box back to the supplier. Got a full case plus a few boxes all same lot number. Couldn’t be happier.

This was a great video. It would be really cool to see how far (or minimum velocity) you can go where it would still expand. If you can't shoot much further, maybe you could load down so that the bullet comes out of the barrel at like 1600 fps. This would give us an idea of the absolute max hunting range. Thanks and keep up the good work.

I bought several boxes of this and selliers blue bullets xrgy to try. I watch a lot of ammo test and Norma always has great deviation even sometime single digit in velocity. Sellier/blazer is tops for me in for low deviation in pistol ammos . I also got some of the federal copper. It’s loaded with Speer hot cor. I’m afraid we are heading towards decreasing ammo number’s steadily with what’s going on in Israel and soon to be Iran.

Glad to see you testing more Norma stuff. With that 100 yard bullet performance, it does make me wonder how it would hold up closer in at those velocities. Not that you would intend to use that particular load at say 50 yards, but if the need came up while hunting.

Would love to see you use a wider range of velocity. 3000/2500/2000/1500 fps for example would give a person a good idea of performance of the same bullet even if they are shooting a 308 vs your 300wm so it wouldn't matter which cartridge.

I’ve been trying to find a quality .30 caliper hunting bullet for over a year. (Accubond, Partition, Game king). It seems as these are readily available. Good results but that much expansion could definitely hinder penetration. I think this would be excellent for deer sized same around 300lbs or less but for heavier game I would rather have less expansion to ensure adequate penetration.

I love the construction as I’m a huge fan of bonded bullets, but that bc on the 180’s in my opinion has to be exaggerated. I haven’t gotten to verify, but it’s claimed bc is higher than vlds in the 200 grain weight class. I’m planning on using the bondstrike in 6.5 through .308 cal but I’m definitely going to have to do the work to verify bc.
@frontlinerejects8029

Ya it's kind of an interesting figure, we found the 180 Bondstrikes to be extremely accurate, but maybe our powder charge just happened to be the magic paring for the round in our gun. Who knows maybe they have some proprietary Scandinavian method of calculating G1's over on that side of the pond. Give us a holler if you can verify that BC!
@FC2ESWS
@FC2ESWS 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's probably that BC at 3000 fps. They probably don't do the average at different distances like Sierra or Hornady does.

@@frontlinerejects8029 so take this with a grain of salt, but I got to shoot some 300 wsm bondstrikes and I chronographed the pills at 3080 out of my buddies 24” barrel. At 1000 yards I had the scope at 7.3 mils and was all around but inside a 8” circle. I was at about 3000 ft. Above sea level. From my data, according to my ballistics app, at 7.3 mills with a 1.5” from center bore to center scope and the bullet traveling at 3080 fps and weighing 180 grains, the g1 bc is just shy of .500. Which would make sense since that’s almost exactly what the nosler accubond is supposed to have. The accubond 180 claims a g1 of .507
