Great video! My father helped build the shrine and his name is engraved on a plaque. While he was working I pulled weeds, I was five years old. My brother Bill was a civil engineer on the Project. I rangered at the State Park in '65. I remember grooming the lighthouse road with a little Caterpillar tractor. It will always be the Park Dairy to me!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane for me. My Family were some of the original settlers of western Michigan. My Grandfather was the road commissioner in Mason county, Ludington, back when they graded the roads with a horse drawn sledge. They added cars to the ferries and the Badger became part of the U.S. 10 Highway taking the cars from Ludington to Manitowoc, WI. I remember when they pulled up the tracks to the ferry's. It was a sad end of an era. The pump station was a massive project as there was not some natural lake there to start with. It took years to dig out and they wore out many of those giant earth movers doing it.

I know every spot you speak of here. I might be moving to Ludington as it’s such a beautiful place. Sadly so much of the bluffs have fallen into the lake.

A point of interest is that the Spartan car ferry is now a floating junk yard of spare parts for the Badger car ferry. They are identical in construction.

When I was growing up I spent the summers on Hamlin Lake. I learned a few things that I didn't know, like the sea supent. But you missed the fact that the Badger is also US-31. I believe it's the only US highway on a ship.
@RestlessViking

It's actually US-10, but yes it is an official highway.

My mother went to the original Meijers as a youth and Fred's wife used to feed her hot dogs while her grandmother used the meat locker. Fredrick himself was at my great grandmothers funeral.
