Looking back there are some very important things I wish I understood in my 20's. Figuring these things out in my 30's did give me a chance of fix all my mistakes but I definitely would have preferred to have more time back on my side again. In this video, I explain the mistakes I made and what I started doing in my 30's to get on the right track.

You didn't waste your 20s, you finished school and graduated, got married, became a father. People are out here with no education and a criminal record.

Brian, you didn't! Let me briefly share the words of my father. I went to school in the late 80's and 90's. My interest at the time was computer graphics. I wanted to get into animation but on an engineering level. My plan was to learn engineering particularly through programs such as AutoCad and others and put that learning into graphics that presented ideas in the animation sense. Looking back in 2011, I was talking with my dad and said the exact same thing as you have in feeling time being wasted. My wise and loving father told me, "No, son. Not wasted time, rather, the successes and failure you experienced on this journey to where you are today." He was right. When we are building self-made empires, there are indeed roadblocks and failure, BUT, the trick here is to keep it moving just as you and I did. Brian, I am 60-years old. You are half my age and we BOTH have been there and you, I am proud to say just your dad is, have done what needed to be done; found your calling along the journey you took. You kept it pushing. I did. Today, I'm teaching myself Python programming language through a crash course and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! I took an old programming language class back at Maryland University in the late 80's called "Fortran 77". IT SUCKED AND WAS TOO CONFUSING! Today, Python is my girl!! I expect to be in a Junior programming position in about four-months give or take two. You made it, son. I see the look of a man that took what he had no matter the frustration and ran with it. You've got a beautiful wife and child. THAT right there was worth all the hell you faced finding your calling, Brian. To all of the men out there, if you want a wonderful life, be an intellectual. Seek to study things and watch that light bulb💡 go off to the power of 1000 in your heads. Also, you'll attract a true woman. What I mean by that is this and I'll land my plane: Girls love guys that can DO SOMETHING and do it well. No matter if you're a musician, masonry worker, plumber, scientist, carpenter, teacher, COMPUTER PROGRAMMER, girls love it!! You know how to do something and make the big bucks at the same time. Trust me, when a woman brags about you, you're good at something that the world is in need of. I land my plane and Brian, keep pushing! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 🖤💯⚔🛡

Dude, I was in my 20's during the 80's. Our motto was 'sex, drugs and rock n roll'! Many of us went full tilt boogie in that regard. Some People who miss out on their wild 20's, end up having a mid-life crisis later in order to compensate. The 30's are for getting our act together. Just roll with it, Bro!

I'm 26 now, I'm definitely in that blaming the economy, blaming the government phase. I work a brick and mortar job doing what I like but minimum wage eventually moved up to what I had worked hard over years to get to. Now I gotta decide if I should keep doing this job I enjoy for not much more than the starting pay at McDonald's with no signs of a significant raise. Also good advice on the flipping thing, I'm going to downsize, sell my Pokemon card collection, sell some other rare items. It's time to let go to give myself a leg up.

My Brotha I’m 29 and I dropped out of college. I drive trucks now and started coding . Too all the young buck who read this, go to college for sure but PLEASE major in a field that will pay you when get out. Not every major will. How to test it? Apply to a job now with what would be a degree in the field. Ask yourself what is the position title to type in and read the requirements. If you can’t get pages of work on indeed then CHANGE your major asap. I drive past college kids everyday wishing I would have stayed but even at 29 I still don’t know what I would have majored in. Now I found coding, not a passion but it’s something and I don’t need a degree. Network , stay out the streets, and MOB.

I'm 24 and a CSc teacher and I love my job but I don't make enough from it and I've been thinking of switching to probably software and each time I watch your video, I feel more motivated to keep going. But I always put at the back of my mind this phrase you once said " motivation is not enough, what you need is discipline".

I'm here right now at 40, unemployed, trying to land another job in the tech space and although financially I'm in a good position to live comfortably (about a year's salary worth of savings and an equal amount in investments) for the next year or so, I regret the fact that I don't have a second stream of income. Luckily, I've met someone who has a serious hustle mentality and they've opened my eyes in regards to finding alternative ways to make more money. Definitely will be serious about getting those alternative streams of income setup so if this happens again I can more comfortably focus on finding the next gig (or pivoting to expand an existing income stream) instead of stressing about all the money flowing out that's not being replaced. Great video though man!

@@amarjotsingh8455 self study and leet code, i honestly think its much harder to get in now i got than in 2019. Be prepared for lots of rejection, lots of it, and tons of competition from overseas devs that make 4 times less than you. Would i try to get in now, i personally wouldn't. Theres devs that cant get jobs for years. Prepare to be the best, if you can solve leet code hard questions on a whim, go in, if you can't be ready for misery and lots of pain. Everyones experience is different but to succeed in this field you have to have grit, knowledge, skill and perseverance, but accounting is a joke pays decently and boring, so its really up to you.

@brian-cache 11 ай бұрын
Honestly you have to try things. I just got lucky because I didn’t think I would ever be in software but started to like it once I got going. Once you try different things you’ll start to see pretty quickly of what you like or don’t like. For example, when I decided to learn coding I told myself I would take 3 months to be consistently learning. If after those 3 months I realized I didn’t like it, then I would quit. Another example, I was thinking about going back to school for a masters because I didn’t have a career. So I said if I can consistently study for 3 months then I would continue to pursue it. I think I made it 3 weeks before I realized I hated it lol so I stopped.

So you were forced to turn your life around because your wife got pregnant. Lemme tell you something: Many of us young men in our 20s, don't even get to get anyone pregnant. We even fail to get girlfriends in the first place. Dating has become much harder. You're lucky to be 35 and to have experienced dating before the internet and big social media ruined it. So for us young men, the motivator which is a girlfriend is just not there

From my personal experience ( I'm 29 years old), I don't understand how people are struggling with this and the desire to have kids at a young age. My group of friends , 30 males, all varying in ages 24-36 , and growing up with them in the past 10 years, 90% of them have girlfriends, some were loyal others not so much. A few were into just hooking up, and that it. My group of friends would always go out , they had money because they worked as drivers or constructions. I feel like the people who can't get a girlfriend is due to them having no money, have other priority (college), and just not being extroverted enough ( or be surrounded by extroverted). Btw, my friends are in theere late 20's , and most of them are getting married, or have kids. Which is lame because those fun time in your early 20's slowly diminsh
