I've got a CZ-52 - if you want a Tok then that's hands down the best version out there...after you replace the firing pin. That said - .357 - 125gr - 1459 fps - 583 foot pounds 7.62x25 - 85gr - 1630 fps - 514 foot pounds OK, so you can see why the two are viewed as being similar as the while the Tok fires a far lighter round, it's moving faster so since the foot pounds are a combination of the mass + velocity you can see why the two are considered to be similar. You can also see why the Tok is considered to be so hot as you've got a pistol firing at rifle grade velocities which when combined with the steel core of the military ammo meant that for the longest time the Tok could blow through most types of body armor. The irony is that you actually weren't being fair by using that custom ammo as people who say the two are comparable are comparing the actual standard .357 load to that of the Tok - we say that our 85 gr round is on par with the magnum's standard 125 gr round and are willing to go head to head despite it being 40 gr lighter and as you can see from the ballistics, the claim is fair. All said, the .357 is still better for normal self-defense as the Tok is actually too hot - without the JHP ammo that's now impossible to find for it, it goes straight through a soft target like a laser while the .357 hits like a brick - I want a big, ugly, gaping wound rather than a small, clean, neat hole when I shoot a criminal.

Hey I had the same issue with my M57 when I put a new hammer in it. The slide would always stick back and I would have to force it closed. After a bit of investigating it turns out that the bore in the hammer for the spring was too shallow and would compress the spring fully but still would not allow the hammer to pivot enough to allow the slide to move freely. All I had to do was file the ends of the spring just a little to allow the hammer to pivot all the way. I only removed about 1mm of the spring and that did the trick. looks like you have the same issue.

I like how you said it’s pretty much impossible to do a direct comparison between calibers. My favorite way is to just find the highest energy rounds for each one and compare them across a different battery of tests, standard gel testing with heavy clothing, shooting cinder blocks, through car doors into gel, and through armor into gel. For standard rounds like 9mm and .40 etc, the armor testing would only be with liberty civil defense, fort scotts tui, and possibly extreme penetrator or defenders +p or +p+. I know the 10mm extreme penetrator will go through 3a, 6” of gel, and through a cinder block lol. And 9mm fort scotts 90 gr tui, forget if +p or not, went through a 3a and a 2a vest at the same time, demonstrated by Paul Harrel. And the .40 civil defense went at least through 6” of gel through a 3a vest. I do not believe 9mm extreme defender or penetrator, even the 90 gr +p+ or 68 gr +p will go through 3a armor, but I could be wrong. It does go through 2a though. There are several different factors for testing rounds, such as armor penetration, barrier blindness, penetration or explosive wound cavity balancing, etc. For example, for bears, you want complete penetration with a hardcast round, for humans you want some type of good hollowpoint thats barrier blind and expands but still penetrates 12-18” of gel. Or a tumbling round or monolithic solid like extreme defender. I pretty much just edc a combination of .40 with 135 gr Underwood noslers (those and the 155 gr xtp’s have up to 675 ft lbs of energy out of a 4.9” barrel, much more energy than most factory 10mm, and more energy than ANY .357 sig I can find), 165 gr and 180 gr hst, and 60 gr civil defense. The HST is my barrier blind bullet that’s also just an all around performer against unarmored targets. Critical defense is also a great choice in .40, and is way better in .40 than 9mm. It’s just not as easy to find cheap bulk critical defense as HST and the HST should be just about as good, though it has lower energy. The .40 165 gr HST’s are about 467 ft lbs energy, the 180’s are 408, and the critical defense is rated at only 400, but I saw somebody get 507 ft lbs through a chronograph on a glock 22, and the HST Ive never seen over 500. The Underwood 135 gr and 155 gr’s are the most powerful rounds that perform well through heavy clothing and the majority of what Im loaded with, and then one magazine of civil defense for anyone with a vest. For my 9mm I use critical defense 124 +p, hst 124 standard or +p, civil defense +p, fort scotts tui, and +p+ 90 gr extreme defenders and +p 68 gr extreme defenders. For .380 I use the extreme defender 68 gr +p and underwood item 152 hollowpoints (out of stock) and then the absolute best for .380 is the new Underwood XTP rounds. They perform better than most 9mm xtp rounds lol.

Hand load the tokarev ammo and it's hot lol Accurate no 9 max load tested with a 86 grain bullet 13 grains of powder if I remember correctly is 1900 fps out of the test barrel 7inch test barrel. I have the EAA windicator 357mag snub nose revolver. I also have a tokarev tt33. I load my 357 mag 158 grain hpswc 16 grains of h110 powder it's hot load max load. They both kick and send fireballs. But speed is high in both only difference is the bullet weight. Both rock and roll. The tokarev is a high velocity that's why it went through the water jug hole in hole out. The 357 mag has bigger diameter and the bullet design creates more shock shoot ballistic gel blocks your tokarev will have less of a hydro shock channel while the 357 will have a bigger channel. The tokarev is an over penetrating military round.
