360° Video - Groundhog Day Filming Location (Gobbler's Knob)

"Well, it's Groundhog Day...again."
Check out this cool and interactive 360° video at Woodstock Square (aka Gobbler's Knob) in Woodstock, Ill. (aka Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania)! We had a chance to capture this while grabbing lunch at the "Tip Top Cafe." This 15-minute VR-enabled video puts you in the movie Groundhog Day (1993)! We're only missing Punxsutawney Phil or Woodstock Willie -- the famous groundhogs!
As referenced in our On Location episode ( • This is Why Groundhog ... ), many Groundhog Day filming locations are a stone's throw away from the center of Woodstock Square. Be sure to "scroll" around and find the locations as we reference them throughout the video.

This quintessential American town that director Harold Ramis selected for Groundhog Day (1993) looks like a Hollywood studio backlot -- a gorgeous town square, cobblestone roads, local shop fronts, and an idyllic bell tower (in a opera house, no less!).

I live here in Woodstock Illinois and I congratulate you all for creating this. I have seen many uses of 360 technology but to have sound added and to set the film clips to their locations on The Square really give the sense of how much Paramount used The Square in the film. I’ve posted it on Facebook for our local friends and again for lovers of the film who have never been to Woodstock.
