So essentially the Patrol and Cruiser have heavily modified motors and suspension just to keep-up with the Defender.

Your front suspension setup is absolutely incredible, the stability you have is quite impressive. Have the stock radius arms limited your travel at all and would you consider the superior arms? And do you have any experience/ thoughts on the X-deflect torsional sway bar offered by Foundry 4x4 in the UK? I've been trying to find a solution to revive the on road manners of my D110 as now it's my daily driver (engineered for 35's) but when travelling to the tracks on 37" creepys it's quite a nerve racking experience on the road.

Thanks mate, when i designed the placement of the coilovers it was more for stability than max flex. The diff end is almost over swivel balls taking away potential articulation but giving stability. Which was a good compromise with 14" coilovers effectively giving me around 12.5" equivalent in the old setup. The superior arms would probably allow easier movement but running the older narrow RA's in wider mounts does work well. I dont have experience with x-engineering sway bar but they do look good and i like how easy they would be to disengage and re-engage. I just wonder if you have to be on a perfectly flat surface. Haha when i ran creepy crawlers on the disco i found on road at around 20psi worked well but offroad i needed to be around the 6psi mark to get them to work well.

@@lror Oh I thought it was a kingpin fab kit? I must've missed that in your previous video. I've actually recently purchased those swivel balls they were a bit of an effort to find but I'm quite keen to fit them on! I've sent them an email asking about it too, they're around $750 +GST and import fees from the UK. I don't have beadlocks unfortunately, I've only ventured to the 8 psi but I'm extremely impressed with them so far. They were great at Yalwal on the rocks, I haven't had the best luck with mud though but I guess that isn't the intention of the tyre. The treps do look quite appealing.
@lror
@lror 2 жыл бұрын
@@totobyafrica847 no it's not a kit but custom made to how i wanted it. I wasn't aware of kingpin selling coilover kits, i only know of 1 Land Rover he did front coilover conversion on after i finished mine and thought that was custom as well. He is also doing his own 110 with rear coilovers and i think he will do the front as well. He does nice work so if he is doing a kit for you its probably going to work well. Yeah nice, how are the creepys holding their bead at 8psi for you? I had trouble with mine at 10 psi without beadlocks.

@@lror I really do need to say thank you for the reply's, especially on your previous walk-through video! I can't state how helpful these are. I'm not the most familiar with the Kingpin kits unfortunately, I assumed they were a kit as I keep seeing the red 110 posted all over HMLR. It seems like he's able to get a similar level of articulation to an X-Link I'm curious about the stability though. I'd love to be able to take the time to learn and fabricate myself but I'm a bit restricted tooling and workshop wise. I'm currently living on a Navy base and we are offered a workshop it's not really suited to the time intensive tasks unfortunately. And my D110 has a disco 3.9 donk fitted which is quite light, I didn't have any issues at 8 psi although I was being extremely cautious and it was really just to see if I could bag the side walls (I don't know about you but mine are stiff as shit), more of a one off than anything. It was just a playaround at the yalwal rock gardens as I'm local to the area. I'm definitely most comfortable with them around 12 - 14psi. My Dad has a FC101 with 36" simex's and he hasn't had any issues at all running similar pressures though he's quite a reserved driver. I've always assumed that it may be due to weight? With both of our Landy's coming in quite light. Again thank you for the response!
