This is an electric snow racer I modified with a 40kW brushless motor and powerful batteries to reach a top speed of 60km/h. In today's video I will try new lithium-ion batteries with a total cell count of 392!
Check out Alma Solar: www.alma-solarshop.com/
The batteries came from Titan: titanbatteries.com/

Please try the new Prusament PETG Tungsten for shielding. Prusa describes it as "Prusament PETG Tungsten 75% is highly specialized filament designed mainly for radiation shielding purposes. Tungsten powder inside the PETG filament is a heavy metal that does not react with water, oxygen, or with room temperature air."

BTW these ski things for steering are called "runners". Snowmobiles have them on their skis and can also be used as wear plates when crossing hard surfaces

And more modern ones as in newer than -80's have carbide inserts to take brunt of the hard surface. Tough sliding in dirt will scratch the skis plastic and cause friction on snow well as cause issues when getting moving on wet snow.

You can calaculate your maximum velocity by picking a "marks/bits" in the snow in the footage and measuring how long it take for your Snow Racer to pass. As you know the exact dimensions of the Snow Racer you can back calculate the velocity. As you cross your own tracks I get about Snow Racer length in about 3-4 hundreths of a second. If Snow Racer is 1800mm speed around 90Km/h peak!!!... 🔥🔥🔥

Hi and thanks for the video. Why don't you use a motor hub like in solowheels? Some of these motors and controllers run on 126V and can have a peak power of 10kW with crazy torque. I would love to see a realization with this kind of hardware. 🙂

In America old school trick to help tools from rusting is to put pennies (1 cent coins) in the tool box you keep them. Also wipe with WD-40 in winter when air is most dry to help condition. My dad's tools he bought in the 70's are still rust free. Just a suggestion!

4:30 - I don't think it's *only* the motor moving. I think it's your long, untriangulated 'swingarm' for lack of a better term. Every time you put weight on the machine, the chain becomes more slack. And hitting a bump just slackens it even more. You need to triangulate the rear of that thing!

IDK how accurate you can get this, but if you have zinc and copper sheets (less than .1 mm thickness) and space them less than .1 mm distance from each other, you can make a radio cell. The sheets should go zinc, copper, zinc. I don't think it matters which is anode and cathode. Also, you're going to need a really good multimeter, as you'll probably only get a few millivolts. Edit: The two zinc should be connected (common electrode) and the copper should be the other electrode.

I think it is actually closer to 25-30% of the maxmimum power because the power over a resistor increases quadratically. I know that a motor is not a simple resistive load but thats why I just assume this. And also correct me if I'm mistaking.

I'd like to point out that 50% of the voltage used would result in also 50% current (amps) which makes 50% x 50% = 25% Power (P=U x I: 0.5V x 0.5A = 0.25W) Or the other way around, if you double the voltage, you quadruple the power.
@ahaveland
@ahaveland Жыл бұрын
I thought this too, but you can run at 50% voltage and 100% current, or 100% voltage and 10% current, so the relationship isn't always P²
@nk4j272
@nk4j272 Жыл бұрын
I'm very bad at this so i might be wrong But if I max = 1A U max = 1V Then P max = 1A*1V =1W If you run the motor at half voltage you get P = 1A * 0.5V =0.5W So... then you're wrong.
@Whiteknuckle157
@Whiteknuckle157 Жыл бұрын
@@nk4j272 Being an electrician since 1972 I'm indeed very good at this. This does in no way rule out that I might be wrong in this case. But would you explain, where the one amp in your calculation derives from? According to Ohm's law the current is a function of the voltage and the system's resistance: I = U over R. Hence if the voltage is the half, also the current is half since the resistance is a fixed value.
@randomname4726
@randomname4726 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the total amp *capacity* is doubled but that doesn't mean he will be running double the amperage. He could still choose th run the same amperage at double voltage couldn't he?
@Whiteknuckle157
@Whiteknuckle157 Жыл бұрын
@@randomname4726 There are two ways to affect the amperage: the voltage or the resistance of the system. In order to keep the amperage while doubling the voltage you need to double the resistance also. This is how basic electricity works provided the system has a fixed resistance (kind of a black box). With respect to the motor, you can affect the amperage with the motor controller (Electronic Speed Controller) which would effectively alter the resistance of the system also. What I wanted to point out was the fact that when the voltage changes, the amps are also changing due to the resistance being fixed.

information 4:40 if spacers were put beneath the bearings, the center of MASS could be lowered. the use of a drive WHEEL results is Minimal drive area. it appears that the amount of DRAG at the runners is excessive for running on any surface other than ice. in order to get this vehicle moving from stationary, some kind of (automatic) clutch should be used; and/or more reduction in the drive should be used.
