I could not be more thrilled. I met Neve Campbell back in August at Fan Expo Canada, she was super nice and I told her I hope she’s in the next one. Glad this dream came true 😊😊

The thing is that this is a job. Actors are employees that like every other employee in the world do it for the compensation. It’s nonsensical to have negative feelings towards an actress who returns to a project once they receive a good offer. Also, the cast are co-workers, not friends. All of them make decisions based on what’s beneficial to their careers.

The problem however is that it’s not just about money. Neve made a clear statement addressing how women in the entertainment industry aren’t fairly treated and she would’ve gotten a better offer if she were male. So she clearly implied that she finds her worth more important than getting a check Spyglass DOESNT acknowledge Neves worth at all, even now. The only reason Neve is back on for 7 is because Melissa and Jenna are out of the picture and Spyglass giving in out of sheer desperation to damage control the mess they got themselves into when losing both their leads, trying to manipulate fans into forgetting what they did by dangling nostalgia bait in front of them with Neve. Neve certainly wouldn’t be called back for this movie if Melissa and Jenna never got taken off. The fact Neve accepts the offer can arguably be very telling on her character as a person.

Because her situation and Melissa’s situation is COMPLETELY different. Neve CHOSE to not be apart of 6 because she didn’t see the money offered to her as worth it. Melissa had no choice. She was unjustifiably fired and Spyblass attempted to smear her reputation with straight up lies. It’s not the same thing Also, Melissa was an up and coming actress when Scream 6 came out and likely signed a contract. Neve is a high tier actress who doesn’t NEED Scream to get her by. Melissa’s need to be in 6 is significantly more than Neves need to be in 7

Neve started all this. As a fan we should be hyped that a 7th film is officially happening. A lot a horror franchise fall apart with sequels yet Scream is still kicking. And to have the writer of Scream, 2, and 4 as the director to me just feels like a full circle.

The story most definitely wasn't completely. Their mom was most definitely getting introduced and we would have gotten more lore. But 6 was still a Good conclusion for the characters. It was basically just them killing a family of killers when you think about it.

Man I’m also ridiculously conflicted. It’s so weird to say that I should be way more excited about this because of Neve and Kevin’s big return, but the way spyglass treated Melissa, and the fallout it caused with the rest of the core four still kinda nullifies any excitement I would’ve had if none of that ever went down. It’s hard to say at the moment if I’d boycott it since we’re so far from release, but I really don’t blame the majority that will. Spyglass really put us in a shitty position man and as long as 7 makes money, there’s no chance they’ll sell the franchise to someone else and get Melissa and co. back in Screams good graces.

I can't stomach paying any money to see it. I was disappointed that Kevin and Neve didn't use their leverage to force Spyglass to sell the rights as Melissa had taken that position - i.e. happy to return as soon as Spyglass no longer profit from it. I'm the same (as a fan since I first saw the OG in 1997!)

I agree with most of what you said, but I don’t think it was just a business ploy to remove Melissa. Whether people like to admit this or not, there is a certain group within Hollywood, that we’re not allowed to talk about, that is almost guaranteed to go after anybody who speaks out against Israel. No hate for Neve Campbell will be tolerated! This franchise is what it is because of her for almost 30 years now. We shouldn’t expect Neve to never return because of what happened to Melissa. Her story arc was only a small portion of the franchise. And who knows, she could be back in future movies if things just get resolved behind the scenes. We don’t know what discussions were done between Neve and other actors. Just sucks that this movie will just be a revision of what was originally planned. Glad for Kevin being director though. Sigh. It all works out for her in the end though. They low balled her for the last film and thought they could just cast her aside for new younger talent. All that has blown up in their face because of how they then treated them. In the end, fans are pissed that they screwed over both actresses. Neve and her team now have Spyglass over a barrel. The only way to go forward with this series without losing too much revenue is for Spyglass to come crawling back to her. Neve's team probably got her a nice fat check. I'm happy for her.

Chris, you're one of my favorite content creators. I always find your opinions to be empathetic and insightful, but this time, I respectfully disagree. When I heard the news about Neve coming back, all I could feel was disappointment and anger for how they treated Melissa and how little Scream fans cared about what she was fighting for. Scream is one of my favourite franchises of all time, and I cant even begin to explain how sad I feel for wishing this movie to do bad.

Desperation move. They cancelled Melissa Barrera and lost Jenna Ortega because of it so they have no choice but to bring Neve back. Neve left the franchise because those clowns at the studio didn't want to pay her what she was worth. Its ashame it took them losing Melissa and Jenna Ortega for them to be so desperate they had to pay her. Otherwise the movie will FLOP at the box office. Should've never fired Melissa Barrera in the first place.

I’m still upset about how they went about things with Melissa but I’m also excited to see Neve come back. I’m also not sure how to feel about Sidney being back because her characters arc has finished IMO. Story wise idk how to feel about it. Character wise I’m happy to see her back.
