cause thats the paid version, you can use planar tracker in fusion (its free) there is different tutorials for that

Billy i love your content, you describe things the way i would describe something. The two hardest things to do is not rambling on and repeating myself and I have to clean it all up and chop it all down in editing. The other is getting adventurous with editing, I am new and trying to add a little more here and there but since I don't know much about the ins and out of shortcuts and what does what it prevents me from trying new things. I just want to get it edited and uploaded usually. Your tips and tricks' have helped out a lot and has made the video editing easier and less daunting.

tracking works great thank you .. but if i have a look on the footage for tracking i cant control the colors of the text right .. i dont get it in white, as i need .. i have on the text also the look of the footage :( is there a way to solve this?

Hey Billy! Thank you for this video. It's wonderful! I was wondering if there's a way to add 2D text with the camera tracker. I'm using a specific aesthetic for a video that I'm having trouble achieving with the 3D text, and the regular planar tracker isn't doing nearly as good of a job as the camera tracker is. Also, some of my shots have a lot of camera movement, and I keep getting a notification from the camera tracker that I don't have enough tracks in common between consecutive frames. Is there a way around this, or is the shot un-trackable? Thanks again!

My biggest struggle is just not knowing what is even possible sometimes. Like right now im editing a video with 4 cameras the hard way because i didnt know multicam was even a thing with davinci.

Amazed at just how far editing programs have evolved in the last ten years! I stopped doing video work almost 9 years ago, and I remember trying to use the low end version of Vegas, that didn't have tracking, to try and fake the final with this type of text effect. I would move frame to frame, eyeballing slight camera movements, then nudging the text on the X, y, and z axises, all in a futile attempt to get this cool effect in the cheapo version of Vegas. I came close several times,but it was always 'off' just enough to kill the effect.

The toughest thing for me is also scripting. I can go off on tangents too, and it's a real PITA finding that balance between give people enough information without getting too granular or going overboard.

thanks, for tracking operations...I use after effects, there is only one "auto-track" button and you can do everything in a few minutes (two-three easy steps).

I was wondering the same thing and found the answer! Use the "Image plane 3D" next to the "Text 3D" instead of the Text3D. Attach your PNG to that node and BOOM!

I am doing a drone fly though video for a museum and I used this video to learn how to add 3d floating text. My problem is that whenever the "camera" goes through the text, it does a super weird vanishing effect that looks ugly. It happens also even if the camera don't go trough. Any advice?? Thanks!

yo i got a question im using davinci 17.3 the latest that came out on windows i used the 17 version as well and hasd no issues but as soon as i updated and got the 17.3 version the videos dont play smooth at all not even when im editing i checked setting and all no problem i hade same setting in the past it was al good now the videos dont even play correctly while im editing so i cant even edit im trying to edit and 60fps video but the video doesnt even play at 60fps so i can edit its verry laggy and not smooth i even unistalled the whole app and files and downloaded again but still the same as i said setting are the same as i had before update someone knows where the problem is ?

Yo Billy, so does the subject or area you want to track have to be in veiw the whole clip for this to work, because I have a scene I want to do this with, and it's like zooming in but the area I want to text to show up in isn't in frame necessarily the entire shot?

The unaligned to aligned process means to select points for a 3D text to attach to, but what should I do if there are more than just one 3D text needed to be placed in different points?

Hello Billy. I have an issue which I could not find a solution online or even in the blackmagic forum. I have Davinci Studio 17.1.1 on a MAC and when I create a tracking via the planar tracker and want to export it by pressing the "Create Planar Transform", it does not create the node. It only opens a condensed empty window of the fusion grid. Is it normal, is it a bug or is there another procedure now to deal with the create planar transform? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
