Welcome back! I love your videos. Tonight you were talking to me. Preach on the slushees. I figured it was my cola fix without carbonation but then I looked at carbs and calories. I have been 15 years carbonation free! Congratulations to both of us. I needed to hear about the shopping transfer. Alarm bells have been ringing but I think you nailed it. (I just put my Visa away.). I am so glad to hear about the great things you have kept up. No carbonation, weigh 1X a week. BUT I swear one secret is the water. Are you drinking the water?

I love hearing this! I love this feedback! Thank you!!! Yah, the slurpees and slushees were a weakness until I realized. I didn’t drink to much but I was ready too. Yes- water! I should have spoken on that I keep a 40 oz with me at all times!

So happy to hear you again. You are so real and knowledgeable as well as fun to watch. ☺️. You are so like me. Started at 362, lost 64 before surgery working with nutritionist, and have lost 110 since. BUT only 11 months out. Ik the struggle is real. All you have said is so parallel with what I am feeing now. Omg. Shopping. Yikes. Gas! My biggie now is wanting to snack....often! I need to watch this over and over to keep motivated. I will be so happy if I can maintain and see your same results 3 years out. Good work! Thanks for the uplifting vid.

Hi Gina! :) So happy I thought of you today and looked for an update! Yes, I love seeing your updates cause you do give the good the bad and the ugly and keep things real! I got the traditional DS on 12-10-19, so I'm almost to my year surgiversary. My heaviest weight was 428. I now weigh 297, so 131 pound lost but have about that much more to go. I agree with everything you said. Literally everything! Thank you! I'm not alone in my intense hunger if I go too long without food and my cravings and what I call my lack of willpower, I mean I wouldn't have gotten this surgery if I had the ability to say NO to everything that tempts me! I am VERY hard on myself with negative self talk, which the shrink involved in my surgeon's weight loss program absolutely hates! She's always scolding everyone about it. Ya, I do beat myself up at times but I'm getting better about not doing it. There are more positives than negatives for sure and I would do it all again in a heartbeat! I'm driving again after not being able to for 3 years. I'm off all my blood pressure medicine, I'm off all my blood sugar medicine. I was on 4 different ones including insulin! My A1c was double digit at one time, now down to 5.3! The only thing I do KNOW will give me a LOT of gas is broccoli! The rest is hit or miss. I use Extra strength Gas-X when I need to if I'm around other people and it does help some. If I'm at home I just fart away! :) Thank you again for the update! Love ya!

Wow!!!! That’s amazing to hear! I’m so happy to hear about all your successes. That makes me so happy. I’m so glad you can relate. It’s such a true thing. It’s a real change to our bodies and we definitely have to figure it all out again. It’s a hit and miss and Everyone is so different! Thanks for thinking of me. I’m glad you like the updates. Yah, I’d be lying if I said I couldn’t relate on the gas subject. It’s a real think. I’ve noticed when I hold it in- I tend to get serious cramps in my intestines. So it’s nice to not have to. Lol. Well, keep up the good fight and congratulations for getting such good health results. Also, I know this is the pot calling the kettle black, but try to be nice to yourself. We are all just doing the best we know how. You’re going through so much change and it’s only normal for your body to protest a little. You’ve got this. You’ve already come so far! I believe in you.

Okay....So I was not going to comment but OMG the gas is real!!! I had never associated it with my WLS. I will be 3 years post op Jan 15, 2021. Since January of this year I have gained 18 pounds. Last year I maintained at 195 the entire year. So although I never made it to my goal or my ultimate goal. I think I should still be at the 195 definitely not 213!!! I just started following you and I really liked this video because I can totally relate to you. Real life family and friends don't get it and they really don't want to talk about my weight loss journey this far out. I complain about the weight gain, they think I am obsessive or its okay. It is NOT okay this is how I ended up at 335. So if I am obsessive, its with good reason. I weigh weekly just to keep up with my progress. I have lost down to 208 so many times in the past few months. I tell you if I could stop losing this same 5 pounds I could be at goal (190). I gave up on my ultimate goal of 175 long time ago LOL plus my face is already too thin at 195 so I am afraid that I will start to look sick. But 190 was my original goal long before I thought losing the weight was possible. I want skin removal surgery in the spring but, I want to stabilize this weight at 190 or 195 at the most. BTW I am 5'7" so 190 is probably doable. I have stayed away from carbonation for the most part, every now and then I crave soda so I water down about 6 oz and it usually goes flat because it takes me a while to drink it. I've been told that flat soda regains its carbonation inside your system so flat soda is still bad for us. I eat a lot for a person that has had bypass surgery, but NOT NEARLY as much as I used to eat. And yes my eyes are wayyyyyy bigger than my stomach LOL I still over eat its crazy.... Old habits die hard. I am thankful that I still dump otherwise I would be totally out of control. It is a struggle, I dare say life long. But we just have to stay aware and keep trying. We are off to an awesome start!!!

Thank you so much for your comment. It it’s true that it’s still a struggle even with the surgery and I think that’s something people don’t realize. You fight with your demons one way or another. People see my success but they don’t see the fights with my head or where I lack or where I want to be. It’s definitely real. I’m ok being obsessive about it. I feel like it keeps me real and accountable to myself. You sound like you’ve had great success! Good for you! That’s awesome.

I really appreciate your videos and the realness. I am having surgery on December 8th and I'm nervous about all the diet regulations the Vitamins the hair loss and gas...I am concerned that I wont lose the weight and be messing up my insides for nothing. Even though statistically theres a good chance I will lose weight. I guess it's just normal concerns most of us go throuvh.
@GinaMarieUT
@GinaMarieUT 3 жыл бұрын
Yup. All normal concerns. I had those same fears especially since everything I had previously tried didn’t work. It’s completely normal. I have to remember to just be nice to myself and take each day at a time. You’ll completely relearn what works and doesn’t work for your body. Try to look at it as a good thing (learning new things about your body) and just try to keep a positive mind set. I haven’t had anywhere near the problems I thought (in my mind) that I would have. You’ll do great! It’s so exciting!

So glad to see you back! Do you think it would of made a difference if you had done the traditional DS? Are you considering trying to revise or get your common channel made smalle?
@GinaMarieUT
@GinaMarieUT 3 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Thank you!!! You know that has been something I haven’t ever thought of yet. I probably read too many horror stories on the traditional DS. I know every surgery comes with mental issues around something and knowing they aren’t a fix all- I’m happy with what I got and I need to try harder.
