In this episode of "Big Sis Advice," Elle shares her top 4 strategies for maintaining a low-stress lifestyle. Firstly, she encourages listeners to avoid 'lower-level struggles,' those unnecessary battles that prevent us from tackling bigger, more rewarding challenges. Secondly, she advocates for doing less to be more, suggesting that by reducing commitments, we can enhance our performance and satisfaction in the activities we do engage in. Thirdly, Elle advises listeners to distance themselves from 'crisis people' who constantly find themselves in chaos and stress. Lastly, she discusses the importance of being mindful with money, making thoughtful financial decisions, and ensuring financial peace. Throughout the episode, Elle emphasizes the importance of self-care and making choices that support a healthier, lower-stress lifestyle.

If you ever talked to a gyno, they would tell you stress is the number one external factor that leads to dysfunction/cancer/hormone imbalances, its really serious ladies! If you think you can handle it now while you're young and healthy, you'll find out how things can change real quick. Please, please, take care of yourselves!

This so much! I put myself through so much stress, stress that did not serve me. During my 20’s my health wasn’t great but I could handle it or at least that’s what I told myself. By my early 30’s I was facing multiple serious health challenges and then at age 47, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. No previous family history. I had always eaten well, never drank alcohol, never smoked always tried to take care of myself. But between a very stressful career and 16 years with a narcissistic spouse, the toll was obvious. Don’t want to see young women going down this same path.

I am a Millionaire Next Door. None of my friends know. I drive a used car, I make or thrift my clothes, I use coupons, live in a small house, my kid goes to public school. I got into Minimalism a few years ago and now I don't even own many things. We do travel a lot, but it's premium economy and Air B&Bs all the way. The biggest luxury in my life is not being in debt, feeling financially secure, and doing what I love. The soft life suits me perfectly.

This millionaire next door point is about my boyfriend 😂. On first impression you’d think he is kind of poor, because he doesn’t like to spend much money on his clothes, cars, luxury things for himself, etc. But he is actually fairly rich. His house (average house in average neighborhood) is mortgage free, he has passive income because of multiple different investments, and his blue collar job pays fairly decent on top of that. I like it this way. We don’t have any worries about money, he can fully provide for me, still have money left every month to invest, and other women don’t try to poach him because we seem poor 😂.

I feel this too as a creative. Best songs, stories, and videos come with inspiration. When I try to force myself to a schedule it doesn’t really work - it just makes me feel bad. I was able to post consistently only when inspired and I have the energy and it wasn’t bc of the schedule. It just worked out that way briefly 😂 Instead I’m doing a tracking system where I “pay” myself in market value for the creative work as if I outsourced it on the tracker. There’s no specific schedule. And that pumps me up a bit more!

I think a lot of people think that to struggle is equivalent to their value. Like, if you’re not stressed, you’re not working hard enough. If you are not working hard enough, than you are not valuable or worthy of good things. It has to be changed around! You have value, and therefore, you don’t “have to” choose struggle when it is a choice. It took me a long time to realize this.

I feel so much better after distancing myself from my crisis friends. One literally would cause problems if there wasn't any. My final decision came when she would complain about a certain church that visited weekly but I suggested she tell them not to come. Instead she invited me to come visit without warning me they would be there and threw me under the bus with them pointing out all of my different beliefs that were contrary to theirs. Totally disrespectful and I walked out and to the nearest bus stop while blocking her phone number and social media on my phone number. Life is peaceful now

I'm choosing the slightly higher level struggle of gardening, since I have the privilege. My own flowers, herbs, veggies and (let's see about that after my heavy pruning...) some berries. Rewards will be better mental health, better "connection to nature", community building, and more mindfulness about what I put in or on my body. Yes, needs a few starter investments to get going, but I have a financial cushion atm, so that's no biggie. It's not gonna be a "500€-tomato", rather a continuous stream of salad! Gardening last year already was very rewarding in the regards I mentioned earlier :)

Personally, I don't like being frugal. That's not my vibe. I don't overspend because I agree that it is very stressful; Being mindful, not wasting money and spending on things that don't really bring you joy is one thing, but for me there are certain things I love spending on and that brings me so much joy. Some people think it's extravagant but I don't care. I find it much easier to save and avoid mindlessly spending when I have goals for saving. Maybe that's something I need to work on, maybe I need to find joy in just saving for the sake of having money, but I'm not there yet. I need a reason to save, like a holiday I may or may not even go on but in my mind I am saving for it. Every time I think about buying something it's like do I want that, or do I want to go on this holiday? And do I want to be flying economy or business class? And then it's easy to put things in perspective in terms of how much I want to buy something. It helps me break the habit of buying things just for the thrill of buying something. I find this has brought me more peace. I don't miss any of the things I didn't buy and I love buying less, but I will never be 100% frugal and will still splurge when it really matters to me because otherwise what even is the point of having money?

She's basically saying here don't spend to look rich and be foolish with money .

As a divorced single mom, I can finally live in a calm home. No eggshells. It's wonderful. After my divorce, in my late 20s, I was able to get my driver's license, my early 30s I started and finished my associates in accounting and now i am pursuing my ba; all while raising and creating beautiful memories and adventures with my kids.

Just a reminder that not everyone necessarily chooses certain things. What’s an easy choice for someone else could be impossible to others. With things like depression, chronic illness, etc, sometimes you can’t just easily choose to get out of bed and exercise and eat well. For me personally, with my ADHD, if I didn’t have meds then I would have continued down a bad road and it would have never been in my control.

This was great. I keep a low key life, dont take too many risk because I get stressed easily. I don’t keep a lot of friends because I feed off their negative energy. I work a simple job that I love. Yes I don’t make a lot but I live way below my means. I could make more but it will come stress and I don’t want nor need it.

Yessssss love this message. Soft life is Easy. I also had the epiphany that if I don't want to do something I just don't do it, its very empowering for me as a FORMER people pleaser. Its ruffled a lot of feathers with people who depend on me emotionally and my labor. I dont care though ❤💅

Last year, I was struggling with an illness, every week I'd have to get my blood checked. The doctor told me my blood test came out beautiful and healthy except for one problem. My stress levels were curbing my road to heal from the illness. Realising that I took out a lot of things from my life that were contributing to my stress. Stress not only kills, it also stops you from healing emotionally and physically.

My bank account came with a separate account that is also connected to it, but I cannot pay from that account or be charged on it. It's basically untouchable and invisible to anyone but myself. Any money I have left over at the end of the month (if any), I will put on there as a backup. If I need it, I will take some from it. I also have a payment plan where I pay in a certain amount of money each month that will grow over time. I do not touch that money at all, it basically doesn't exist to me.

This describes my millionaire uncle to a T. He lives in a small house in a older humble neighborhood , doesn’t dress up unless he has a business meeting. Has an old fishing boat. The only thing he splurged on was his truck. lol he will go outside and still help work on the cars too lol he doesn’t live to impress anyone but will occasionally throw a little hints out to us. Lolll (family)

I need this. Stress doesn't just affect your mind but your body as well. I was in school worrying about everything and I had constant migraines to the point where my grades were dropping. The people around me seemed so loud and it got to the point where I couldn't move and I started seeing double. I took a break from school for a week and felt a little better. After that I just took on homeschool, which is where I'm at now. The year before I was doing great, I only had A's and I was fit and happy. My life was productive until it wasn't. Now my grades are A's again and I'm fairly alright but I don't ever want to go through that again. Don't put too much on your plate at once or you'll end up with even more than when you started. As of now I'm prioritizing my health and living as peacefully as I can. Stress is a free handout in life but you don't need it to make it through. I'd rather live a softer life.

Yas 🙌❣️ what many underestimate is that stress can actually unalive ya 😐.. I remember when I woke up one morning with pain in my lower stomach that hurt so bad that I cried and cried short of madness caused by pain. My mom rushed me to the hospital and I got emergency surgery. Later the doctors told me what happened: there is an illness that causes knots in the colon which is deadly. This disease is caused by permanent stress and the doctors told me that mostly girls in their early twenties are affected by it. They said it's a chronic disease and that I have to make immediate drastic changes in my life if I don't want to put my life on the line again. This experience left a mark on me: a scar from the emergency surgery which always reminds me to never overload myself again. If I could tell one thing to all the bb gals out there I'd ask them with all my heart to NEVER FORGET ABOUT HAVING FUN AND CHILL! ❤❤❤

I usually just follow the lead of my partner. And usually old people are very good at small talk so it’s gonna be okay. I’m very quiet too and don’t really speak unless I’m spoken to, but it’s nothing to worry about. As long as you’re sweet and polite you can’t go wrong! (Unless they are evil then everything can go wrong, but it wouldn’t be your fault at that point lol) offer them something to drink, eat, make sure they’re comfortable. And let them talk 😂 they love to talk.

As one of those kids who grew up in a turbulent household. I'm 30 and I've been hospitalized and has many scans due to heart arrhythmia, my heart mimics signs on a panic attack without me actually under stress. Its quite disheartening for me, literally. So even though I live a "soft" life, I am still affected by my childhood in my health. So at work now, I only put myself up for the major tasks which put me at the forefront. I don't stress myself for the little tasks because its low level stress. For major tasks, I'm also learning to ask for help (in the form of scheduling 2 hour meetings as a workshop). So that I learn once and get it forever. I'm also the eldest sibling lol, I wish I had a big sister lol.

I’m very easily stressed too and keep a low-key life, I work for myself in a job I enjoy; I don’t make loads but enough to get by and have small luxuries. I’ve lowered contact with people I find draining, have drawn clear boundaries with an ex-situationship which has regulated my emotions, made me feel stronger and happier and am working on meeting new friends atm. Hopefully by next year I will have someone to go on holidays with and when the weather warms up I will be out on the water paddleboarding most of the time 😊

One of my co-workers at a past job made so much money. He was always doing OT. He was getting a nursing degree while working more than 40 hours outside of school. None of the money past the cost of his room in a shared apartment when to him. He ate for free at work and took home anything we'd donate to freeze. BUT, all that money not going to him he was sending back to his family overseas who couldn't move, his grams and aunts and uncles (as his mom lived here because she married an American.) That compassion is beautiful but is also why so many hard workers never grow fiscally because they don't also set some aside for themselves to invest :(

People want you to post _more_ ? Girl you're already on my timeline like crazy. I like that you post whenever you feel like, and you're churning out quality. I don't care about a schedule, if you post I'll see it cuz that's what a subscription is for. BTW, just a video idea I'd be interested in -- what workouts do you do? You mentioned off hand that trying to workout the same as a man can lead to hormonal imbalance (and I've personally experienced a lot of swelling and pain from doing so) , so I'm curious what you do?

The stress showing on skin is sooo true! Because of my study I stress sooo much sometimes I don't even realise it. I had a month of freedom from my study at december and my skin healed up so fast, I don't even remember when was the last time it looked this good. And then I had to go back for an intens study period because of my final, and it breaked me out like hell. And I couldn't figure out why, because I was sooo used to stress from my uni that I didn't even realised anymore I were stessing, I had to check what changed between the mounths to find out. Luckily I'll finish and get my diploma in february, but it's sooo true, my skin knows my mental state better than I do and I need to do changes.
