Observation: it’s just my note and not a font for a correctly interpretation of the content, My “some points “ important to me: 1) middle is hard; go ahead 2) to do list : prefer a more interactive and meaningful way to keep your progress, like writing your goals and trying to increase the ability to make it; 3) Sometimes you need to change goals ; ex: I have to walk instead of run because this or that ; 4) thinks of the category “I have to do” are more easy and meaningful since 4.1) it’s one action “just do it “ instead one “don’t do that , and don’t think and don’t want it “ 4.2) things that “ I can’t do that “ maybe can be helped by changes in the environment and the way you deal with that (I can’t eat that so I can’t be happy > I will be more healthy and more beautiful…) 5) Try always to look to the past and see how much you already done, using it to keep your mind focused and meaningful about your goals; so be clear that your struggles will leads you to this point and your experience will be helpful in the future etc… 6) we can’t change our personality, but we can chance the circumstances (ambient, objects around and displayed around us etc; ) and the freemen of the goals (like breaking the goal in small steps and be happy with the little steps…

When a negative thought has you in its undertow, break the circuit. Interrupt the pattern simply by breathing in. Focus your attention elsewhere until the negative thought no longer owns you. You own it. And you can decide what to do with it. Journal. Walk. Have a conversation with it. Treat it with compassion. Your breath will buy you these options and many more.

This might help someone from my experience 1) Remove loop holes from your schedule. Exercise every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday has more chance to succeed than exercise 3 days a week because in the second case you can increase your resting day from 1 day to a week and forever with the promesse to resume the next day. 2) Use external motivator. Just sharing your goals with a mentor, mentee, boss , child can boost you to succeed because you don’t want to deceive those who admire you or those you want to mirror.

Thank you for this video. As a psychology major, I did take a motivation and emotion course. During that course, what you’re saying about “distal goals, “and “proximal goals, “works. If I can, I will get a hold of Professor Tom cane and show him this video. Working for Missouri State University. he was, and I believe still is, the professor for understanding, motivation, and emotion. This video would fit nicely with the book by Reeve and others, entitled understanding, motivation, and emotion. Thank you again, as this can also be used in special education, my new degree path.

Forgive yourself for the time you wasted and allow yourself to change. Don't feel ashamed because learning new skills is way more useful than sulking and feeling ashamed. Putting your head in the sand is not who you are, it is just something that you have been doing. And you can stop doing it if you forgive yourself an really open up to the possibility that you are worth it.

@Merope4ever

I think there should be a Disney film that shows the joy of decluttering. Because there are films to help with cleaning motivation, but not decluttering so much. When you watch the old disney film Snow white or the film Enchanted, you can get intrinsically motivated to clean more. But cleaning is already way easier that decluttering, because decluttering creates more decision fatigue.

Patience is a virtue. And you need patience for procrastinating. You are right that these 2 things are highly related. But they are not the same thing. Procrastination can be useful to a certain extent, but you need to find a balance because it can damage you when you take it too far. And then you find that you have not created the life that would have made you happy, even though you had plenty of opportunities to do so. You just missed them all.

I think people procrastinate because basically they’re bored people have way too much time on their hands compared to earlier generations
@Merope4ever
@Merope4ever Жыл бұрын
@@jeffred6616 I disagree. There are so many good things to do with your time, that would make the world a better place and also make yourself happier in the process. I know for myself about a hundred different things that I would like to do, easily. We do not have more time. We just have more freedom to decide how to spend our time. That freedom comes with choices and responsibilities. And we don't know how to deal with those choices and responsibilities. We get decision fatigue and we get stressed and we run away from responsibility into many different forms of fantasies and dream worlds. We distract ourselves, so we don't have to face the reality. We don't want to see the poor choices that we made. We don't want to admit how difficult it is to be a responsible grown up. We tell ourselves that we can just have fun and not think about serious things, but subconsciously they are playing in the back of our minds and eating away.

@Merope4ever
@Merope4ever Жыл бұрын
When you want to lose weight and your only motivation to do your exercise is to lose the weight, that is hard because the exercise is only a means to an end. But when you pick an activity that you like and you use that as an exercise to lose weight, then you can be intrinsically motivated because you enjoy the activity. So you should try to find the joy that you can have right now by carefully chosing your activity based on what you like. And then allow yourself to enjoy that activity that also helps you to lose weight. This is a smarter way of doing it, because it sets you up for succes.

Seems like avoidance to me. Just because failur eis not in your vocabulary doesnt mean that you will never ever fail again. Words are a usefull categorization to organize your experience. If you don't have enough words to descriube your experience you will become confused or mislead. Better name the experience correctly so that you can adress it as it is and not hwo you want it to be.

@@Rithmy be more generous than that. I get done what I need to get done and I work through what pains me and I prepare for future difficulties. “Not in my vocabulary” is a saying that means I’m at an established point of self awareness. For example quitting is not in my vocabulary.
