PTD.. permanent total disability.. Me too. I'm going out in July.. I have been on Workers Comp 15 years and SSD for 10 years.. I was spied on followed and turned down for everything I ask for.. Had to go to court every time.. Jump through so many hoops.. Once I was PTD.. It stopped.. No one bothered me again.. No reviews .. Now its time for SSR.. That's it.. Now the settlement ....

That’s great! I didn’t receive back pay after waiting 18 months.

I applied in 1991 and was denied because ss did not accept military or veteran's medical records as proof of disability. In fact it was not till the early 2000's a judge ordered ss to accept them and then vets were allowed to reapply, and even then it took more than 2 years till a judge ruled summarily in my favor after about 5 minutes of telling my story in court. But we were only back paid to the date we reapplied. I think the reason they have never requested a review is that an administrative law judge ordered them to put me on disability, they had denied me a number of times from about 1991 and would not accept my VA or military medical records as proof of disability, until a judge ordered the ssa so we veterans could all reapply. But they just denied me anyway and so I got a lawyer and he got an appeal, it took years, but the judged asked me to tell my story in my own words and about 5 minutes into the story she gaveled the case to a halt and found summarily in my favor, she said she had never heard such an egregious denial of benefits in all her time on the bench. And she looked right at the SS reps when she said that.

It took me 5 months to get my disability. Thank goodness they approved me. I didn’t get any back payments. My son was supporting me along with his own household. I couldn’t work and was in a wheelchair. I had to have both hips replaced, and the ball of one hip had completely Disintegrated. I was out of work for 10 months. I went back to work part time. Then covid hit and all of us were laid off. I had fallen a couple of times and now I need to have my knees replaced and the one hip done again. Getting old isn’t for sissy’s! I’m just thankful I wasn’t denied my benefits.

Tell me about it. I tried to clean bindweed out of my jasmine vines. I got about a third done on my butt and look like a rabid dog attacked me. Lol. I traded all my high maintenance annuals for colorful leaves and perennials. I've gardened all my life, I love it, but I am wiped within an hour. On my butt! I had COVID and I think it did something. I love watching history documentaries on KZfaq! In my day, ( oh, here she goes again) it would've taken me days, maybe weeks, of research to find what takes seconds today. You can access all human knowledge on your phone! AMAZING! I love Google. Any weird anything that to crosses my mind I can just look up. Ppl don't appreciate it, don't use it to learn, but would rather take picture of their lunch and post it to social media. What happened to us?? If you're old you won't be surprised to fing IQs have dropped 20+ points since the 70's. Thats the difference between a functional human and a dog. And in many cases, I'd go with the dog! 😂

Same here, cervical disc disease, head, neck and back, along with migraines, heart condition and many other medical issues. I enjoy gardening as well. May I ask which State your located in? karen, x the unknown, athanasia, & gail- wow,,,, i thought i was alone, i identify with all of you, i have degenerative disc disease, spine fully covered with arthritis, 5 bad bulging and degenerated discs in lower spine, 1 mid spine, and 2 in neck, low thyroid, long term breathing issues due to that c sickness which made my asthma worse making me depend on asthma meds daily instead of seasonally, and depression. my energy levels are poor, i get spurts, then goes away about 4-5 hrs later, if i do a chore or task, it takes me forever to do unlike what time i use to could do it, wears me out, have to lay down a while to rest up, maybe rebuild energy but sometimes it doesn't rebuild, i can't do more than one or two things in a days time, it's very frustrating at only 54yrs old, just 4 yrs ago, i was still on top of everything, now,,,, horrible, and with all of this inflation groceries are my #1 killer, i would like to get help with ebt but they say i make too much, then again, i think they need to update their parameters for ebt due to current inflation and it is not going away and the prices won't be coming down so,,,,. i'm also looking into scaling down to a lesser place to live, it's getting harder to keep up with a house and yard, thinking about 55+ community but the ones i have looked at are too pricey for me. anyway, i feel like i am stuck and geting worse. thanks for all your inputs, made me feel a lil better.

I’m on SSDI and I’ve never been reviewed, and that’s also the same thing when I was on SSI. Maybe I had never been reviewed because my disability happened before the age of 2. I was working back in 2017 and I could earn as much as I wanted because it wasn’t considered a full tax year when I started in Sep. When it came to Apr. 2018, it was the starting of a full tax year and I could earn only $1,220 a month. I didn’t know anything about that, so I ended up earning over $2,200 that month and my disability was taken away from me and I had to hire an advocate to get my disability back. What I did wrong is I went to a re-evaluation appointment that they had set up for me. It was like I was getting on SSI again, so I didn’t get the whole benefit amount I should have gotten. If I had gone to the advocate first, he would have gotten me back on the SSDI and everything would have been fine from day 1. Instead I had to go for like 2 years without my SSDI and go on living on just what I got paid at work. Thank god I was able to live with my mother in order to make ends meet money wise. Now I can earn up to $1,300 per month. They better raise that amount when they increase the minimum wage.

Certain disabilites are not reviewed because they are not treatable or curable. Some of the illness are surprising that SSA does not "consider" as a incapacitating disability would surprise most people. Heart disease is not considered to be a disability to SSA. Also, the side effects of some medications would qualify for a disability to SSA but the illness ITSELF may not be approved. Also, one of the main reasons gir periodic review is that, as the years progress, there are new medications, treatments or surgeries that can greatly improve a person's ability to work. So that is the main reason for the reviews, to see if a person is no longer 100% unable to work.

This is the 21st Century form of "eugenics" to eradicate the "least profitable," to the elite. Poor people and people over age 55 are the least value and the cost to keep us alive far outweigh what profits they can gain from us. Therefore, people over 55 are a "waste," of time and money. They deliberately use outdated stats and unconventional numbers to decide the national poverty index vs the national rate of inflation. The SSA and also the food stamps program and Medicaid eligibility maximum income levels. They do this to make it nearly impossible to qualify for assistance. You would have to be NEARLY homeless to qualify. Most of the people who do qualify live with their parents or grandparents. As we age, WE DON'T HAVE parents nor grandparents to help us with housing arrangements. That is ONE REASON (NOT ALL HOMELESS PEOPLE ARE DRUG ADDICTS) why you see so many gray haired people SLEEPING on the streets and in their old car ! Make no mistake, this is all by design ! Most people over age 55 were working as young adults in the 1980s, 90s. That was the beginning of the END of PRIVATE EMPLOYER PENSION PLANS ! Also the BEGINNING of the EVIL "independent contractor" practice by major corporations. The main objective of this practice, was to destroy unions and to deny pension plans and medical care to these independent workers. Gradually, over time unions became impotent or non existent, and pension plans as well as medical benefits became extremely rare. If you worked in any civil service occupation, you were spared of this wicked practice. But keep in mind, the entire society cannot work for the govt. EXCEPT in Cuba, Venezuela or North Korea, and THAT is exactly what their goal is, FOR THE MASSES. BUT THEY WILL KEEP CAPITALISM FOR THEMSELVES ! Bernie Sanders, Ca Gov Gavin Newsome, Nancy Pelosi, Hollywood celebrities, and the entire marxist elite, will PRESERVE CAPITALISM FOR THEMSELVES. @THE GREAT RESET.NAZISM. WE SAW THEIR DOUBLE STANDARDS DURING THE MASK MANDATES AND THE LOCKDOWNS ! They made THEMSELVES EXEMPT ! They also passed an ordinance where all film companies were EXEMPT from the lockdowns ! Don't go over the 9 months your allowed to work within 60 consecutive months or yes you will lose all your benefits. But they will wait until you owe them a huge overpayment before they tell you to repay it all. Seen it happen to many times. If you're a person that needs the insurance be aware no employer will offer you coverage that's enough. You'll only be losing your income to return to work with every risk. But yes you can keep most of not all your disability while working these 9 months. You only lose your SSI because that's what you pay into taxes, so if you return to work you lose that. If you don't report every dollar you earn, your already going to get hit with their rules you broke. SSA denies every claim at the moment. So your waiting 6 months just to be denied, then you appeal it which takes another 6 months, almost 96% of appeals are denied making you appeal to a hearing which takes 6 more months. But if you read the SSA website, isn't it really weird that they talk about benefits they owe to people..... only if they are still living. You live in the worst country. The US will send billions to help other countries with food and shelter but our own Americans are homeless and hungry? At the same time you all voted for this, and one day when you can't work either and you must rely on help, it won't be there since Americans are even tired of supporting those that need help. But we pay sports athletes millions? Lol what a joke!

Seek pays more but you're responsible for your own bills and such where ask is for people who haven't been working for10 or more years so you are no longer eligible for work but you dropped off social securities radar so you don't qualify!! I keep wondering about all my previous work before those ten years.. They no longer count!!

It takes 3 times to get it usually with or without a lawyer. So don't waste your money on them. My dad had cancer diagnosed in Oct. 1982 when he got accepted but he didn't get his 1st check until the May month he died, which had to be returned. Suks

Richard I can understand how you feel my world fell apart in 2019 I've been very active working as a service writer keeping cars moving and staff because I was a closer and manager s left at 4 shop was open till 7. I have type 2 diabetes had been asking for years why am I putting on weight nobody could answer me they told me I was an exercising enough and I'm like do you see what I do for a job then they blame it on that I was eating too much cake cookies and ice cream do you see what I eat in a day I eat healthier than most people. beginning of the year went to the doctor for my yearly physical I asked her what I thought was a stupid question which led to an ultrasound then to a biopsy then my butt in surgery two weeks later with a total over hysterectomy and lymph nodes removed because they found cancer came back from that working my job again so I went back to work in April October rolls around I've been having all these issues over the summer breathing not feeling well been sent over to liver specialist they pulled me off of some of my meds that I was taking couldn't have any steroids things seem to be going okay close down the shop on a Sunday came home 4 days off 3 days off sorry got in the shower Thursday morning got halfway done with my shower my back locked up that's all I could do was to get the soap off my head and out of my eyes and from there it went downhill we're two years later and I'm lucky I can stand 5 minutes 10 at the very most and if you have me stand 10 minutes you better have me with a walker a cane a wall something and you better be getting me a chair because I will be in tears cuz my back can't take it I got three bulging discs I've got deterioration in my back I have not osteoporosis the one right before it I have a vitamin D deficiency they found that I have bone deficiency we've just pulled me off of the high dose of vitamin D to see how I react through the summer so we can try to dial me in better the endocrinologist is she keeps on putting me on more insulin and I'm fighting her and I just got my disability in June of last year I'm just thankful for where I live that the landlord is able to do things for me but trying to keep motivated and doing stuff it's really hard my biggest issue is getting some kind of help here at home to help me clean up a little bit more so things aren't so much cluttered so I can get things up off of the floor I can't get the dustpan to do it and some of the stuff is too big for the vacuum cleaner or if I suck it up in the vacuum cleaner it'll ruin it. so if anybody's got any ideas on how to get some help I talked to the state prior to the pandemic and because I can wash myself and dress myself with the exception of my socks I haven't been able to put socks on for 2 years last time I had socks on I hit have my neighbor put them on. I have to be really careful when I do grocery shopping I have a walker that I figured out how to put my groceries in but if I weigh down the Walker I have two steps I got to get up and I can't get the locker up those two steps cuz can't pick him up can't take the Walker up two steps and if I do manage to get it up by the time I get it up to the top stop I'm shaking like tourette's and I'm shaking everything I shake stuff right out of the Walker. my one neighbor and it realize she was behind me the one day when I struggled getting the Walker up the two steps she thought I was having a seizure. supposably I won't have a review all right so this June will be one year so I have another 3 years so I'll be 58 by the time they go to review me again and we're still trying to do everything humanly possible to keep me going I can still drive but I don't go out unless I have things to do I make a list if I have a doctor's appointment I check my list and see do I need anything from the grocery store do I need to go to the mailbox do I need to go to the pharmacy any kind of errand that I need to run I run it the day I go out to the doctors because usually once I've gone to the doctors and done all my errands the next day I'm flat on my back. okay now I'm getting on a soapbox sorry but there's people out there that look at some of us and say oh there's nothing wrong with you okay step into my shoes and see what a life is like in my shoes where you can't pick stuff up off the floor or I have a dishwasher I have problems loading and unloading the lower rack because if it's too heavy I can't pick it up and if I manage to get it picked up and put on the stove then I might be able to get the dishwasher unloaded but that'll be it for the day I see a chiropractor to help me loosen up things I have an issue with my one hip when I first started going to the chiropractor I had one foot longer than the other and then they noticed that my hips weren't quite squared so we're having to retrain muscles the only thing that's good about the chiropractor besides the fact it's a slow process it is helping a little bit here and there sometimes it causes other issues but Medicare helps cover chiropractors I don't know too many of the other plans that would I've heard horror stories about using the other plants I'm also qualified for Medicaid I have to find out what they cover because so far every time we've tried to send through my meds through them they're not covering it so I have no idea what's going on that's why I haven't gone to any other plans because I do have Medicaid and Medicare Medicare being the primary but I got to find out what Medicaid's going to cover for me are they going to still cover my eye exams every year and my dentals cuz they don't have to buy glasses for me I wear cheaters I usually tell the the eye doctor what prescription I'm on and he just verifies that yeah I'm using the right one. all right I'm done whoever's made it this far thank you for listening or reading. anybody have any extra that they want to add or any help anywhere that they can think of I live in Illinois. would like to live somewhere else but my family is here. and with what I pay for housing right now for small one-bedroom apartment I don't think I can get it anywhere else so I'm kind of stuck.

Also, read the scriptures where it reminds you that God smites your enemies for you. You don’t have to do a thing. But don’t go watching the news, and living in the kingdom of man and putting world concerns into your spirit. Stay under the protection of God, and let him be your fortress. 💕

So, just spend your time instead thanking him with your mouth (the power of life and death, blessing and cursing, are in the tongue, so only speak what you want to see and not one peep of what you don’t want to see, no matter HOW scary it looks). Make a long thank you list and really talk to God about every thing on it, and that will keep your spirit in the right place. Forgiveness and thanksgiving have to come before requests. Of course, because even we want to see gratitude for our efforts. We are made in his image, so it makes sense. And you did that with your comment, you did express a fear, but quickly gave God credit right off, even said it came first. You’ve got this. Focus on what he’s done, and thank him ahead of time that you have the victory here, because if God is for YOU, who can possibly be against you? I went through all that, the one I worried about was the DR., appt., made for me from S.S., after I was made disable, I put it off for 2 months, Was in the hospital, every thing was fine, at 65 was put on straight S.S.

I am so sorry for you. The Drs and medical system is a disgrace. I moved to a new state 5 mos ago and finding a new dr is a nightmare. God forbid you have chronic pain and need meds...they treat you like you're some kind of drug addict, it's just ridiculous. that's why people finally resort to getting drugs illegally.

@@stj971 So very true! I was Blessed & had amazing PM doc in Va who actually had me doing well on the meds, then I lost my job & came back home (FL). My pain meds were stopped cold turkey & I was put on Wellbutrin, which did not go well for me, at all! Now I went back to my old pain doc after the last incident I wrote about & despite the long, tough ride, I won't ever leave him again! But here in FL I am given about the equivalent of 1/4 the strength of meds I was on up north & unfortunately spend even more time in bed or my recliner. I was Blessed though because my old pain doc here took me back & he & his staff were wonderful (as usual) and. understanding! Unfortunately though they sent my meds to my old pharmacy so I was only able to get 1 of my 3 Rxs (lol can't catch a break, 1 is just Lidocaine patches, but I do need them but I have a few days' worth left). They already have me scheduled for my 2 medial branch injection procedures for the left side of my neck before they will do the RFA. I have had a few of these over the last 16 yrs & they just don't work on me. Idk if they help other CRPs patients or not but my female best friend & I both have had that problem. When I walked back into the pain doc's office I was so very relieved, I was absolutely startled by the appearance of the office & staff there vs the doctor's office at the one who treated me so poorly, I didn't notice the difference at the time... At least I know I am back in good hands, I just have to get a ride set up for that day to & fro for my next procedure! I will have a "quality of life" despite what the wacko pain management doctor @ Florida Medical Group said! Thanks to God & Dr Neill Ellis at Florida Pain Relief Group & his staff! They took fantastic care of me over the last (approximately) 3 years, & only reason I left was because they didnt take my new insurance, so I went back to my old insurance company & I am so glad I did! My meds are gonna cost more (again) but I would rather pay the money than even eat! God Bless you all!

OMG 😨 I'm facing a spinal fusion, that got triggered from a tendon/hip surgery...now Im.kinda thinking I'm gonna work harder at physical therapy to stabilize everything. It sounds like you had the same thing, and EVERYONE tells me this, that one surgery leads to another and another and another, until you're a cyborg. A crappy broken one, but still mostly plastic and metal. And meds make you gain weight. Try keto. I can actually lay flat again st my legs when stretching. It's been YEARS/ DECADES! LoL. Good luck Mr Cyborg. I hope your pain subsides. You should check it out, bc inflammation is the main cause of pain. And fat is great at causing inflammation. It's a vicious, and I do mean VICIOUS cycle! Hey, a diet you can eat fried cheese sticks on....how bad can it be???

@@athanasia6766 Yes I did…the first neck surgery went awry and made it worse..the second neck surgery I kept getting like a shocking pain in my right side of my neck…and some doctors ain’t to fast of getting you done…I had two lower back surgeries the second one to fix their screwup on the first…I had my right hip replaced and within year my new hip popped out TWICE…I’ve never felt so much pain in my life…when your new hip detaches from its socket hole the pain is extreme and continues…my surgeon ask me about why it popped out I told him the truth and said maybe it wasn’t fit into the socket strong enough…he received that comment well…but yes I feel like a cyborg and if I could have it all over to do again best and believe I’d get a second opinion… P.s. the healing process when that happens even once is just another 6 months longer to heal…good luck on your decision whichever one you make…I’m only speaking of my bad look heck you could go in to have the surgeries done and come out feeling wonderful…oh and my younger brother had the same surgery I had and he’s almost a cripple…his lower back is just giving him all kinds of problems and tons of pain…they had him addicted to OxyContin and other pain meds and he chucked them in the trash and now he just tolerates and puts up with the pain…

SSDI payouts for the disabled aren’t enough to even reach the poverty line. And you’re confusing recipients with “welfare moms,” who’ve never worked a day in their life….they keep spitting out babies for a bigger check. There are a small number of SSDI recipients who take advantage of the system. However, the majority of us are heartbroken that we can’t enjoy our careers, permanently. I have secondary progressive MS, and I dearly miss my nursing career. I put myself through college with no loans or help from anyone. It’s been 21 years since I had to sit down and fill out those papers. I cried the entire time. Because I was severe even back then, my benefits were approved in two months. No one dreams, or hopes they will be disabled, but sometimes you draw the short straw. Instead of calling us lazy, do some research first. Your words were hurtful, and not just to me.

@@willywonka6252 I also sent in over two reams of medical documents from just the last two years and a major surgery that took over two and half years to get done despite working plus the many minor invasive procedures. Having health insurance but was continuing getting denied for the surgery for over two years. Have to live with nephrostomy tubes in both kidneys that entire time. They had to change out the tubes every two to three months. This was all done while working as a property manager. Have a surgical procedure then run back to the office the same day to get some stuff done. My husband was pissed off at me but more so at obumacare. To many obstacles also because I had to have many specialist including for the surgery. The doctors told us that they had never seen a case like mine. On my second urinostomy, they use Iliosical bowels to reconstruct the urinary tract (5 times now). This last big surgery they removed the iliosical valve which has now caused major havic that still has not resolved. Most all babies born with it passed away in the first few years. God has blessed me tremendously throughout this process mostly because He allows me to see the needs of others which takes the focus off of self. Give your situation to God, He does bless those who endure to the end.

Good question.... As long as you are meeting the treatment criteria with the VA you should be fine. If you are not using Medicare and paying part B $170.10 per month there may be ways to reduce this expense. They absolutely cannot use the fact that you collect VA disability against you in any way. Just be mindful of the rules under both programs and you should be fine. I have been on 70/30 VA with I.U. and SSDI since 2014 with no issues.

Focus on the lack of ability to work not the disability if you want to win.

I received ssdi under the "disabled prior to age 22" law and rule. I had very few medical reviews. When I had them they told me not to worry and that as a "disabled adult child" they did not question my disability and I would have my benefits continued. They make this process so complicated and dont seem to follow any rhyme or reason.

@@TheDisabilityDigest I think I may have used one of these before but I'm trying again the main thing I come into problems with is Washoe County or Reno having any interest in helping dyslexics Washoe County's been through at least one major lawsuit and possibly many smaller and still haven't fixed their programs most of the parents out here when I understand are using the new phone Technologies but I have no mentor and no way to be paid to be mentors too many of the children with dyslexia out here

He is correct Biden has budgeted for SSDI to have investigators find people scamming the social security administration. In other words if you say you are disabled, then be disabled.

They sent undercover investigators to my door saying someone was trying to steal my social security number. Thought this was a valid investigation, during my review I found out they were undercover to try to catch me compromising myself.

You do not have to report money they can NOT prove you have. If you work under the table cash only jobs then you don't have to prove jack crap to them. They can't prove it so why tell them I mean good god. All they want to do is constantly reduce your disability over every little damn thing so if they can't prove it on paper then keep the mouth shut. It's common sense if you ever wanna get anything nice or save money for a future big purchase.

I tried working again in 2007 a night stocker and was making over 900 a month and they reviewed me even though I was fired 4 months into the job as I figured my mental issues would get in the way as always in my past. Well social security took me to court in a medical review saying I made gainful activity and I fought them just muself no lawyer and won my benefits back cause getting fired was not gainful activity. The judge was nice to me and chewed social security out and awarded me my benefits and praised me for trying to work again and told me to be careful and if I try to worl again to make sure I don't make over 900 a month or they will consider it gainful activity and end my SSI that took me 2 and a half years to get in 2001. Been on SSI since then and have had 4 reviews and just had one a month ago. Paperwork in the mail and sent in all proof from my mental drs and med Dr and haven't heard a word back from them which I guess is a good thing I don't know. My benefits are still going so thats good. It was just those update papers to see if they need to review you. Thats been over a month ago and no word back. I sent in lots of new proof and more stuff added than before. I bet their pissed now they can't say Im better. Haven't worked at all since last fired in 2007. So I bet they mad they can't use that againt me again lol.

@@TheDisabilityDigest I'm sorry I didn't see this before - seems KZfaq is "withholding"..... I was on disability until I turned 65-66. I had to go on MEPD (medical eligibility for persons with disability) to get title19. We had some info-classes about working while on SSD. In the fine print at the bottom it said that one didn't have to make the (then) $700 to meet the fully employed qualification. They could cut us off at $400 if they thought that was "gainful employment". I wondered if MEPD, which was supposed to allow us to continue to get title19, was a trick so they could kick us off it. Problem was, I had a spenddown for title19 - and I couldn't "continue" to get something I wasn't getting. I felt blackmailed into working. I wasn't supposed to be working and it made my disability worse.

I expect that your SSA income will put you over that asset limit to collect SSI. Note that 90% of the work we do here is targeted toward SSDI recipients but I expect you will find some value

At age 62 your disability will automatically turn into retirement. If you are still disabled and low income you can get ssi and retirement at the same time. $2,000 asset limit per month for ssi.

I have been on disability since 2000.. ssdi Worked from 1965, disabled 1999. Me during disability, I just worked part time 22 hours for 2yrs. Then stopped. Stressful being up at 6 am for an 8:30 am security job. I used to work all nite at a casino. Or half the nite 4-12 am. I had one review 2009. That's all. Plus at age 66 my retirement started. They sent a letter. U are now certified retirement. U are 66,. The start retirement age of a person born 1951. Your $ are the same. Pending your yearly cpi $ that's starts each January. I don't know what this 1962 retirement stuff is? Unless u are on s s I. Confused unless it's changed. People that get regular social security have to retire at full retirement age( now 67) 62 for us is ,30% reduction. My disability. Bi polar.

In my experience, being on SSD since 2004, that short form is them checking to see if they think they need to pull a full review on you. Your answers will determine if they pull a full review on you. I hope you filled it out accurately and I hope you are aware there is a time limit for that short questionnaire to be returned.

@@Starscreamf15 Haiiii . I have a Rare Eye Disease called Keratoconus & last year in July , i ended up getting corneal Hydrops in my right eye . Moral of the story , i need a transplant & a cross-linking procedure done in my left eye . I was in excruciating pain for 3 months when this happened last year . My vision has gotten worse now . It’s blurry , it’s hard for me to read , when i watch tv i can’t read the words & the images are blurry & i get headaches . I did a application online March 22. On April 28th , i got some papers in the mail that , they wanted me to fill out . Like a Vision Questionnaire, Work History & my Daily Life. They wanted it back by May 2nd .

@@Starscreamf15 I agree. I have had to complete this short form a few times since 2011 and always got a letter back stating there is no need to contact my doctor at this time. I also suggest to fill out this form timely and honestly. If you feel you are getting better or worse, just let them know. Also make sure you are regularly seeing your doctor or specialist. If you do not have to see a doctor in a year, they may wonder and question why.

Ikr.. I'm about to turn 58. By the grace of God still extremely healthy. I would like to do more in my life than work. Leave at 7:30am back home 10 hours later. Do a few chores, its bedtime repeat again tomorrow . My husband just turned 64 instead of retiring from a physically hard another company offered him more pay to train their guys in his area of expertise. I feel like at this point we're not going to enjoy our older years. Sooner or later time will catch up to our bodies & mind. We have to work to survive. A month of ssi might be 2 weeks of our bring home pay.

You still can retire at 55 with no health issues if you don't depend on Big Brother to save you. Planning for YOUR future was YOUR responsibility.. at no point was SS ever supposed to be a primary retirement plan. It was a bare basics safety net FROM THE START. If you made it to 55 years of life, especially in America, you have had ample opportunities to square away your own residual income. For that matter whether you work or not has always been your choice.. no college? No problem, start a business.. can't start a business? No problem, invest at a young age and build the wealth you will need to be independent of a broken system. You had the freedom to choose and you chose to fuck around and blow time and money on whatever it was and now you want a bail out.. 😏

@@davidmarklein unfortunately I was widowed at 28. Leaving me to raise our 3 very young children alone. I didn't plan on being a single mother. However I did buy a home, where my children were safe & secure. My plans may have been different than yours.

@@numbernine3436 lots of wealthy single moms of multiple children You may not have chosen to be a widowed single mother.. but I aint buying that situation alone dictated you should have relied on social security for your old age.. my mother raised 2 "very young sons" with no college degree or trade skills and we started as poor as it gets. She doesn't need social security. You are not as special as you want me to believe and your situation and the choices you made along the course of your life are not as unique either.. You've had plenty of opportunities to do lots of things.. like remarriage and giving your kids the single most important thing THEY needed to be successful A two parent home. Thus is a statistical fact. But go ahead and feel sorry for yourself and complain the government isn't taking more from your fellow citizens to give it to you.. you still have that freedom that was gifted to you.. providing you a life that by any standard was less difficult than Roman emperors.
