At one point it is one thing, at another point, it is another, and in the middle, there is a transition from one to the other. @@UllrT that's what transition means, but trans is not short for transition it's short for transgender. When a person is gay or trans they always are even if they haven't realized it yet. So if a gay man had a girlfriend as a teenager or a trans man was previously named Vanya, they still are gay and trans and so when talking about them in the past tense, you still refer to them as such.

Vanya but a guy because the actor is now a trans man. While some people think he asked Netflix to change his character to be male too, he actually said he was fine with still playing as Vanya, Netflix i presume just decided to change Vanya into Viktor to make the actor feel more comfortable.

I think they should use the name "Vania" because in season 1 and 2 the character used that name, the people who didn't see the trailers or nothing will feel lost the first part of this video.
