I have many Soviet and Russian watches and have owned many more. Poljot were for the elite. Raketa, Slava and Chaika mid ranking. Pobeda for the common man. Vostok for the military.

I'm lucky enough to still have 3 Vostok watches. 1 from Aussie and from the Ukraine. They just go and go.

I’m sort of curious what a Vostok Amphibia is like. Might have to add one to the collection. Thanks for the video. 😊

It's trash, like most things out of Russia. Mine was wildly inaccurate and the bezel action is gross. Sold it to a buddy of mine for cheap. Honestly you'll see better quality out of a $30 Casio.

Pobeda 39K Belonged to Dr. Genin who strapped it to Chernushka the space dog. That was the first watch in space. Sturmanskie powered by a 17 jewel sportivnie movement was the watched strapped to the first man in space: Yuri gagarin, cosmonaut

curious question, maybe for another video or it could be answered here. Does the current Sturmanskie watches use NOS Poljot 2609 movements, or is there an ebauche (movement) manufacturer making them now. If so, who?

There are 2 versions of movements in Sturmanskie Gagarin collection for now. First option is 2609 Poljot movements, there are quite a lot in stock since Soviet times so they used them in new Sturmanskie Gagarin in hand-wounded version. Also there are self-wounded version with Vostok modern-made movement. with couple of other differences. So if you buy Sturmanskie hand-wounded with 2609 in the name you could be sure that there is soviet Poljot movement inside it.

@@The4i4x then it is new old stock, the poljot 2609. too bad no one makes the 2609. the only thing closest to the sportivnie movements are the Vostok hand wind Komandorski movements.
@The4i4x24 күн бұрын
@@mystic48209 The closest thing it's Poljot 2609 - new old-stock. Original 2409 had been replaced by 2609. Seems you're looking for new watches but with old movement and design?

Hmm I wonder if the vintage watches are actually Frankenwatches

Russian watches don't and won't exist for me since 2022. I gifted one Amphibia and sold an Amphibia and a Komandirskie. I agree with your first suggestion 100% and i add "and stay there". 😉

Did you treat all US-made products the same way after 2003?

I heard that Vostok is basically German watch. Built on German machines.
@thehumblehorologist60915 ай бұрын
Never heard that.
@mattcameron93492 ай бұрын
It's a bit more complicated than that. Since the fall of the USSR the company has split into two separate companies: "Vostok" (Chistopol, Russia) and "Vostok Europe" (Lithuania) Vostok Europe does indeed use some German tooling. Original Vostok in Russia does not. In fact, Vostok tooling from the 1940's originally came from.... America!

@@mattcameron9349It's very similar to Cuban cigar brands that have identical brands in the DR and Nicaragua, for example.

@@thehumblehorologist6091 I was given one by my ex as a gift years ago, and it was absolute trash like most things from Russia. I think I sold it for 20 bucks. Rubbish.
