Hi Cody! Former collegiate rower here who has a lot of trauma associated with sports and exercise from all my toxic past coaches. After I graduated I took off two solid years, doing nothing at all. Over the last 7 months (since you did the iron man) my girlfriend and I have been so inspired and kick-started our new running hobby! Our first half marathon is in two weeks and our full marathon is in April 2024! I’ve been following everything you do since your Vine days, thank you so much for this channel and for this community! 🚂🫶🏻

As someone who is not a fan of running and quite a slow runner, I’m always impressed with Cody’s pace times. Cody - those are elite times my dude. Average Joes can’t maintain an 8:15 pace for 8+ miles! Remember that! You are a BOSS.

Former D1 athlete turned father and husband who has no reason to be as active as I used to be here. Your journey has inspired me so much Cody, and this past weekend I finished my first race. Baltimore half marathon in just over 2 hours. Going to train for the full next. Thanks for everything you do, choo choo!

Since then I have lost 100 lbs, ran five 5k races, a 10k race, and just ran my first 1/2 marathon this weekend. I watch your videos every week and they always keep me motivated to keep going. Thank you!

I don't know whether to thank you or blame you. Because of this channel, I joined an interval running program. I am on week four and have taken my 20:00/mi to a 16:00/mi (I even hit a 15:07/mi this morning). I used to hate running; after years of being a basketball player, having chronic bronchitis, and having a messed up knee, running has never been fun. You (and the entire Cody Trains community) changed that for me. Now on rest or strength building days, I miss hitting the pavement. I am even hoping to do a 5K sometime next year and am looking into running gear for outdoor training this winter (#midwestproblems). Two things I never thought I'd say. It really has just been about getting up and out there. Thank you, Chody. Choo choo!

Meditation is so helpful for me. I've been working on it for years and it's still something that makes me more aware of what I'm feeling and how to get through it. It's a "practice", not a quick fix.

Last weekend I ran my first ever marathon, last month I ran my first ever half marathon, and this year has been my first year of running. I always had the idea in my mind to run a marathon although it seemed quite daunting to me, however after watching the first codytrains video back when the channel was created I felt that now would be the time to do it and I don’t regret the decision. Thanks Cody for giving me something to watch during those early breakfasts before a run and providing me with the motivation to go out there and achieve my goals. Also Good luck for the marathon, rooting for you from South Africa!!!

Here's a suggestion that was life changing for my long runs. Buy some SaltStick chews or something comparable. Use them to get 300-600mg of sodium per hour you are running (for workouts longer than 1 hour). Pre loading sodium with lmnt beforehand is also a good idea. The gels by themselves don't have enough sodium to keep me going deep into my long runs. Adding this additional sodium during the run makes them so much easier to finish. It helps my heart rate stay stable too.

Been watching since around feb when I was rlly low mentally & not working out at all. It’s always been a dream of mine to do long distance running/triathlons. This channel helped me realize the only thing stopping me is myself. There’s no reason I can’t achieve my dreams. Yesterday I ran a half marathon in 2.5 hrs and it felt so fucking good. Cried at the finish line because I reached a goal I trained for all summer and finally finished something I started. Thanks for the inspiration, Cody. Love this community you’ve built more than anything on the internet. It’s so positive. On to the next!!!

About a decade ago I was into things like mountain biking, hiking and backpacking but I started feeling sick and miserable all the time to the point where I nearly died(more than once). Turns out I had some pretty serious auto immune issues. After years of being able to do next to nothing and falling into a pretty serious depression I realized how terrible my quality of life was. I decided despite being sick I needed to be active and push myself to be healthy again. Your videos really helped isnpire me to do that. Now I've been a lot more active and I've even summited the mountain that I live at the base of in Montana. I never dreamed I was going to be able to do anything like that again and now it turns out my disease has gone into remission. Anyway I just wanted to express my thanks for the part you played in inspiring me to push myself and heal mentally and physically.

I started working out around when this channel began, and it has evolved into intense weight training as well as intense running. I ran my first sub 20 5K on Saturday with a time of 19:13; a PR of 57 seconds. I can confirm that energy is everything with the race I ran two days ago and how I just went out there determined. Watching this channel has been helpful to keeping myself going in weight training and cross country. Thanks Cody, never stop Cody Trains

Just finished up my first ultra marathon, gotta give thanks to these videos that inspired me to train in the first place. That feeling of the last couple miles is mixed with excitement and exhaustion. But now all I wanna do is do it again I originally got into running from your videos and wanting it to help the grieving process of losing my brother and dad. I felt them there during the race and I also thought of all the videos that inspired me while running. I started running in lockdown 2020, I was very beginner and couldn’t run for two minutes. Sadly I stopped as I was doing it for the wrong reasons and didn’t enjoy it. Fast forward three years, I came back from travelling around south East Asia for 8 months in May - having done very little exercise during that time I started running again (for the right reasons). Two days ago I ran my first half marathon in two hours! I never thought I’d be able to run that far. I’ve also just downloaded headspace in hopes to help my anxiety as it’s been really bad the last few months. Thanks for the videos!
