There is also the possibility of the Horus clone regaining its memories when slaying abbadon, and realize to its horror what his original had done. This could even potentially mean that it would become hostile to the chaos gods and all the fallen astartes. Well, don't forget that Horus had to be corrupted by Chaos. He was manipulated, poisoned, infected, slowly stripped of his reason and sanity before having whole chunks of his personality mystically removed. The creature that lead the Heresy to Terra was only in the loosest sense Horus. In any real sense it was simply what was left, hollowed out to be a vessel of power for the Chaos pantheon. Using the Clone of Fulgrim as a reference, he knew what his corrupted original did and was disgusted at his actions. Whose to say the Horus Clone, who by all accounts was only just awoken, wouldn't have the same memories? If so he would remember killing his beloved brother Sanguinus as well as all the other horrors committed. What then?

I think that the Fulgrim Clone actually had Fulgrim's soul, that the "Daemon Primarch" was in fact the Greater Daemon of Slannesh that ascended while still possessing Fulgrim's body. As for the Horus Clone, since Horus' soul was destroyed, a perfect Clone of Horus could only come to be a form of him with perhaps a shard of his soul and identity. I think though, at the end, Horus was repentant but the Emperor had to purge all his humanity to prevent Horus declining again and then becoming a Daemon Prince.

Horus did nothing wrong. @Zovereign: As I said, he impaled the clone, then shot it. The clone died from that. Here's the full passage from 'Talon of Horus' All five of Abaddon’s claws rammed so deeply into Horus’s chest that they burst from his back. The scythes pushed out the stunted remains of Telemachon’s swords, sending the broken blades clattering against the floor. Dark redness spread across what was left of the white fur cloak draped in tatters across Horus’s shoulders. A genetic god’s blood rained down over me. I felt like laughing without knowing why. Shock, perhaps. Shock and naked relief. The storm bolter on the Talon’s back kicked three times, burying six bolts inside Horus’s exposed chest and neck. They blasted him apart from within, adding viscera to the blood slopping across those of us left prone. And that was how they stood, as gold flared in the eyes of one and life faded from the eyes of the other. Horus’s knees buckled but Abaddon would not let him fall. Horus’s mouth worked but no sound came forth. If his last words found any voice, Abaddon was the only one to hear it. I was fortunate that day. Not just because I survived a battle with a demigod that should never have been fought, but because I heard Abaddon’s last words to his father. With a slow, smooth withdrawal, he pulled the Talon clear of his father’s body, and the moment before Horus fell - the moment before the light finally went out in the primarch’s eyes - Abaddon whispered five soft words. ‘I am not your son.’

Horus was a queen, with a high possibility of betrayal, chaos decided to ax the queen in the most effective way they could. They took a king with a queen. Imperium fights on, but their power was cut dramatically short. The chaos gods would never allow Horus to return to the game though, even if its a cheap copy, copy's can attract the fragments of his soul, that are hinted to be scattered within their realms. Besides they can't let someone who actually can do his job live, they need Abaddon the Harmless to keep running around smashing his head for more of their fun times.

ooh, i have a theory for you to do, inspired by this video are the eldar trying to prevent humanities evolution? both the emperor and fabius want to create a new human species, one better than the primarchs, or even the emperor. what you said in this video made me think that the eldar want to prevent fabius from doing so. here's the theory: did the eldar take steps to ensure that the emperors "great work" would fail? we already know that as petty as they are now, the still seek to return to the position of the galaxies dominant species

I think the most interestng possibility was left by the wayside here: The clone of Lupercal with his memories restored, would turn out like the clone of Fulgrim with his memories restored, and would in fact, be loyalist even if never accepted by the Imperium, cleared of the corruption of the warp and seek to lead his sons to redemption as Fulgrim tried to do before Bile sold him off for pack of cigarettes. Can you imagine the sheer amount of FUCK that would do for everyone involved?

Bile could have at least attempted to keep the cloned Horus from siding with chaos to at least deny them such a powerful pawn. they most likely would try to kill him at that point though, which means Bile at least would have the option of chucking him at Terra and hoping the Emperor would do something about that (which i'm sure he would. i mean, a Horus that hadn't actually done a bunch of shit but knew about it all so he could avoid doing it again while also having another Primarch at his side to do stuff? too good to pass up imo). even if the clone was stuck in the deepest dungeons of Terra, it would still be ridiculously difficult to get to him. also, i'm pretty sure the Eldar only say humanity has to die to get rid of chaos because they're butthurt about making things worse and the fact that the Imperium in the crown force of the galaxy at the moment

I'll admit, this one has me scratching my head a bit. Mostly because, if I have it right, Horus' soul was completely dusted and destroyed by the Emperor in their final showdown. Now granted there's rumors (and even the possibility) that pieces and fragments of it still drift in the Warp. But for all intents and purposes the original Horus is dead and gone, not even able to ascend to demonhood. So what, exactly, would his clone be in the context of the Warp? What kind of psychic presence would it have? Taking the premise at face value and he defeats Abbadon, would it grow it's own mind and spirit or would it serve as a kind of psychic flypaper to the remains of the original's spirit who could then use it to partially reconstitute itself? Either way would it then look on results of the Heresy, the destruction and devastation wrought in its name, and smile with pride, seeking to pick up where it left off or rather recognize just how it had been played and make an attempt at redemption? The re-emergence of Horus, even a knock off, would be a powerful weapon and propaganda tool for the Forces of Chaos. But it could be an equally powerful one for the Imperium as the prodigal son of the Emperor returns to the fold. Assuming the clone actually is able to have it's own will and mind or was able to get a least a enough of the old Horus back I would actually speculate it would turn its back on both Chaos (who caused it's original downfall) and the Imperium (which has degraded into the antitheses of the Emperor's dream for humanity) and strike out on it's own. Given its power and connections to the past (for good and ill) I could indeed see it attracting both loyalist and traitor legion alike to it's side, inspiring the former and redeeming the later, building up a kind of cult of reason dedicated to the Emperor's original intents, creating a kind of Reverse Heresy. That's my thought anyway.

I think Horus still lives, divided into 4 still trying to finish the labors chaos originally gave him. Maybe eventually Horus will seek to reunite himself and his soul weakened will join the Ultramarines in fighting against Chaos. With shards of Magnus floating around I could see a similar fight with the infested demons in his body to purify himself from chaos as the exorcist chapter does to resist chaos. It would allow for a redemption story and maybe with Magnus returning he can let the Emperor rest.

The basic premises rule this out. 1- the clone was not Horus, Horus' soul was annihilated. Just because you reconstruct the physical bits does not mean that a person is still there, ask Mary Shelley. 2-The powers of Chaos had bet on Horus and lost. We know that Fabius had constructed a clone of Horus. If your point is correct, who is the say that Abaddon was not the tool of the powers of chaos when he destroyed the clone? 3-Fulgrim's soul was not annihilated. As a result, the circumstances have to be treated differently. The clone of Fulgrim was not only physically viable, but arguably had full drums Soul, or at least a mimeograph of such a soul. Fulgrim was a sensitive sort when he was originally brought up on Chemos. Fabius did not alienate him or abuse him. There may have been legitimate affection. 4-The idea that the Eldar end game with Fabius was simply to keep him busy and not attack them is pretty sadly myopic. The Eldar are never that one-dimensional. There is a lot more to the game they're playing. Besides, they led Fabius right to a large group of Eldar.
@40KTheories

*Supposedly annihilated. There were still remnants of the original Horus's soul within the Realm of Chaos still performing labours for the Chaos Gods even just prior to the Siege of Terra (as shown in HH: Slaves to Darkness. I even did a video on that topic a while back if you're interested :3 ) Secondly there is nothing to disprove the possibility that the clone developed it's own soul, since in 40K souls are created by some unknown biological process (hence why those with the Pariah Gene lack souls). But all in all, the subject of Clones and souls its a topic worthy of a video in its own right. In addition, while Fulgrim's soul may not have been annihilated, It was still claimed by Slaanesh when he ascended to Daemonhood

@@40KTheoriesYeah, I read Slaves to Darkness, it was slow and a lot of retcon. The souls and clone issue in 40k is a great issue for a video! Good call sir! I think that Fulgrim's situation is still murky. The daemon possession situation with Leaer Blade leaves that uncertain. Fulgrim may be a real litmus test for soul/clone issues in the books to come! If Horus won/survived, he would gather the traitors unto him and guide them to a mission now worth fulfilling. Instead of pursuing hatred and rage against the Imperium of Man, the Traitors would seek to build a new Imperium built more honestly upon the Emperors True dream and vision for mankind. This would create a massive schism among the chaos Marines as less hardcore and "only" Renegade chapters would be most likely to heed the Horus clone's call. Horus' clone could in fact have the Fulgrim Clone at his side in this endeavor. I can easily imagine lop-sided wars against the IoM at first, but some chapters already teetering toward Chaos would find Horus's "Rebel Empire" a very easy pill to take. Before too long the Horus and Fulgrim clones would change their names to avoid the negative connotations and deflect some of the ire of their original Daemon Primarchs. The IoM Sees no difference, but the Rebel Empire garners much support some even from the IoM itself. But the fact that the Rebel Empire is founded by the clone of the arch-traitor and a fell Primarch brother, plus so many chaotic and renegade Astartes... Even if the IoM at least unofficially wants peace with them, officially they have to pursue their annihilation.

What if the untainted clone reverted to his former, more noble self and ran amok throughout the Eye or made it back to the Imperium as Father's son? After all, the clone hesitated in felling Abbadon and that's not the tainted Warmaster's style (murder, mass murder etc came easily to him). Would Horus take his father's place finally?....

If the clone was victorious or at least escaped the conflict - Chaos would have lost Horus and likely many of his troops. Not a huge deal, but a diminishment. Clone Horus would be a nuisance and be picked off/apart by the vengeful Imperium eventually - but perhaps the Imperium would be even weaker after just one more front opened up on it by the warmaster. And down goes humanity - probably to Orks and Tyrannids - as even now they only keep pace. Here's a question though - What if Fabius Bile has all the primarch gene seed organ plans? Why can't he make his own if he can clone one? They weren't augmented humans - they were grown and whatever augmented organs they had - grew with them. Far more advanced than Astartes - Primarchs probably have more in common with Custodes in some ways - despite the talk about gene seeds and the "God Organ"
