My personal favorite is the Akashic Records, an object (possibly a book) that contains a record of every event that will ever happen in the entire history of the universe - past, present and future. The ultimate source of knowledge!

You cover Excalibur, but neglected the scabbard, which Merlin claims is worth 10 of the sword, because so long as the sword was sheathed, the one wearing it could not bleed.

Great list! here are some items a future list can include: 1. Druid blood: human sacrifice isn't always about winning the favour of the gods, sometimes it's about invoking their wrath. And few things anger the gods more than the spilt blood of a Druid, who was among the very few people in the ancient world that were considered sacrosanct and impermissible to harm _(not even kings enjoyed this!)_ . So when the last of the druids lured the Roman legionaries to a remote island and threw themselves on their blades-- they invoked a curse so strong that reports from all across Britain told of rivers turning inexplicably red! 2. *Golem of Prague* : This enigmatic construct was made in the 16th century by a Rabbi learned in math, mysticism, and astrology. We actually know its current existence in the real world, but no one dares open the room where it is stored because of several disturbing tales: one such event recounts a later Rabbi wishing to see the golem for himself, only to leave the building trembling in fear to ominously reaffirm the warning the original creator declared centuries earlier. 3. *Caul of the seventh son of a seventh son*: sometimes newborns leave the womb with a piece of the uterus still clinging to their head, this 'caul' is said to have powerful warding abilities, but if the infant is the seventh son of a seventh son _(with no daughters anywhere in between)_ then the caul also serves as an auspicious omen that the child will grow up to become powerful in some fashion like healing or resisting evil.

Originally the "Tarnhelm" is neither called that, nor is it a helmet at all - the original object is basically a cloak of invisibility. It's only called "Tarnhelm" in Richard Wagner's 19th century music drama "Der Ring der Nibelungen" - based on the epic poem "Nibelungenlied" (lit. "Nibelungen song"), written around 1200 in Middle High German. There it was called "Tarnkappe" (lit. "stealth cap") - derived from Middle High German "Cappa" - which doesn't mean cap - but _cape._ When the poem was rediscovered, the word had completely changed its meaning. Wagner wouldn't have known any of that, knowing only that a "Kappe" is a cap and probably thought a cap wasn't that impressive, so he changed it.

12:38 The mead of poetry was not made be Odin. In the Prose Edda it says after the Aesir Vanir war hostages were exchanged and all Aesir and Vanir spat into a giant cauldron. From this cauldron sprang Kvasir, the most well spoken of gods. Kvasir was later killed by the dwarfs Fjalar and Galar who mixed his blood with honey and brewed the mead. The Jotun Suttungr tricked the two dwarfs, stole the mead and hid it under a mountain. Odin in turn seduced Suttungrs daughter Gunlod who allowed him a single sip from each of the three barrels of mead. After draining the barrels Odin escape in the form of an eagle back to Asgard chased by an enraged Suttungr. To lighten his load Odin pooped out some of the mead which landed in Midgard, our realm. And that is where bad poetry comes from.

We don't have very much folklore, to be honest. The Europeans spent a lot of time erasing American folklore/history, both north and south. In fact, most current American folklore like Paul Bunyan, for instance, are corporate mascots. Designed to convince us to work harder. Outside of that, it's mostly just cowboys and wendigos.

That's probably because North America is one of the newest "discovered" countries. Hell, what we know as native Americans only came here about 13-15,000 years ago. And practicing living in harmony and balance with the land, I'd kinda be surprised if they had any kind of "mythical artifacts" as they placed next to no importance on "materialistic objects or items." Again, this is just personal speculation. 🤷‍♂️

The story "Aladdin" or "The Tale of the Wonderous Lamp" was not part of the original "Tales of Scheherazade" (There was no "1001 Arabian Nights" as there would have been no concept of "Arabia" at the time of writing, that name was an invention of European translators). Putting it in with the ToS was a choice made by translator Antoine Galland as a publishing convenience and has remained a convention every since.

Actually, no one actually knows what the Sampo was. The Kalevala only refers to it in vague terms and that it brings the Nordrlanders wealth and prosperity. Also, Louhi actually owned it because Ilmarinen made it for her in exchange for a daughter's hand (which he never got because of shenanigans Louhi had no actual hand in). The story surrounding it was a bit more ambiguous than 'Louhi bad', at least until the last tales where she steals the sun and the moon in the motherlode of all overreactions.

In my fantasy universe Philosophers' Stone is a source of power for vampires, they're using that instead of hunting for humans... Main character shattered the Flamel's stone (after Flamel's death) into smaller pieces and gave them to all vampires' families... Main character is a magical-powerful human, but vampires are having a trust in him, 'cause he is also looking like a monster in humans' eyes and in eyes of other mages, wizards, druids, etc. ... Instead main character is helping magical entities, he helped werewolves to control their abillities, he helped dragons to hide from humans, and he helped trolls to build a kingdom in post-vulcanic caves... There's more, but this comment is already long... P.S.: I'm not an english speaker, so my comment can be... bad
