Music fits pretty well. It gets stuck in your head for infinity, same amount of time you feel you spent at the 43rd.

I went to 43D for my reception at leonard wood. The hardest part of the entire basic training. You literally stand or sit there for entire 5 or 6 days. Plus, the bed in the barracks so hard as it hurts your back, lol.

I remember it being a relief once I got to basic. Hated reception with a passion.

They say one day you’ll wake up and you’ll be back in reception.

If you are watching this waiting to ship to FLW. Just know that this is 100% the worst part about basic training. You will actually be so relieved to finally start training. Was at reception for 6 days felt like 6 months

Feels like forever ago when I first stepped foot into that godforsaken place. It's all a blur to me now but can't forget it either. To think, my first night I showed up at around 2300, didn't get to sleep till around 0100 to wake up at 0430, first thing I hear is "GET THE FUCK UP PRIVATES. HURRY UP, YOU WILL CONDUCT HYGIENE AND MAKE YOUR WAY OUTSIDE BY 0430."

I notice some full looking backpacks. Don't bring hardly anything. Spare shirt, 2in1 shampoo/conditioner, deodorant(no aerosol), and your paperwork is all you need. You'll spare yourself a lot of trouble. Females will want to bring hair products(no aerosols), bras(black or white sport and 1 regular in white), undies(plain muted colors like black, white, nude), and period products. The selection at the little shopettes suck and women who need larger cup sizes are likely to be completely out of luck. You can start to get mail fairly quickly so no big deal if you need something not completely essential.

I went to basic and AIT at Fort Benning in the 80's. At the time, the reception station was just called Johnston Hall. I hated the in processing and medical and dental and everything else. When we got shipped out, I didn't know what was coming. I was scared to death. This video brings back memories.

The WORST part of OSUT for me. I stood in line for 7 hours for a hearing test... Nothing about reception is great. Also any Delta 795 bois here?

I went through reception twice. One for basic training at Ft. Jackson and the other when I went active duty. I was stationed overseas and I had to do reception again. I think I saw DS White in the video. He was at Ft LeonardWood when I went through reception again.

When they give you your cuts they try to take your scalp too.

Ill never forget this place. I burned my hand washing dishes doing kp duty. I had to stay in reception for a few days longer till the doctor cleared me to go to basic.

I took basic at Ft lost in the woods in 72 They were real nice that night we arrived at reception filled out paper work had a form letter to sign and send to the parents. Then they took us to the barracks and tucked us in bed at midnight and said we would get 8hrs of sleep 😴. The next thing I knew it was 4:30 in the morning and a lot yelling and kicking of bunks. Welcome to hell. Don’t believe everything they tell you. Thanks for your service.

Funny story. I once had a funny dream that I went back to visit with my family to show them where daddy was back in 2012 at Fort Leonard Wood I went to with my family to the PX Main px, and some of the quitters were still there. LOL

The dang benches are the worst. I would actually hold the blue book in my hand and fall asleep acting like I was reading it. Got called out by a DS and was told to recite the soldiers creed did so perfectly and went back to sleep lol.

I remember this place awful awful and awful and I remember the drill sergeants picking on recruits the whole time oh man. I recall this one kid fucking up and the drill ser. Asked where are you right now this kid responded with “the army” and I just fucking I had to hide yeah this never wanna go back to this place again holy moly.

The worst thing about 43rd was the hot ass barracks at night.

Coming from a soldier who walked these very steps...It’s disheartening to see the lack of attention to detail in this videos editing. It shows clothing issue past the half way point of the video. However, you see soldiers already in uniform. Couldn’t have been the Engineers responsible for the making of this. ESSAYONS!!!
