I just graduated osit I had the same experience. But I enjoyed some of basic especially real training if you are going and read this just know it sucks for the first half but it does get better the longer your there.

I go to OSUT there on Jan 4th. Extremely nervous but also excited

From my experience being at FLW I got there 22 November 2021 and graduated OSUT 25 March 2022 reception there for me wasn’t bad my company definitely took it for granted. Once we arrived at Bravo 35th EN BN it was a shit show but for those wondering about phones. For OSUT the phone privileges you get during your 9 weeks of BCT expect the same for AIT but if you aren’t OSUT you’ll have your phones on your person during AIT. I’m currently still at the 35th jumping from Alpha to Charlie to Delta waiting to go to Airborne on the 21st then off to Italy I go. I’m a 12B Combat Engineer for those who are wondering.

Or the reception time whether it is 1 or 2 weeks that I have seen that sometimes passes is part of the 10 weeks of training that they tell you, thank you and greetings Soldier!

Never again. Did BCT and AIT there on the coldest season last year. I hated it since my rights got taken. Transitioning to Fort Campbell was like WTF. I’m chilling but getting deployed this month.

20 years ago reception was the worst part for me. Nearly a week of sitting on wooden benches, sleeping in wooden WW2 barracks, and worst of all no countdown to graduation.

Are you able to write to someone who is at the same base as you for basic training? So the person I know is already at flw. And I was wondering when I get there, am I able to write to them while they are also their?

How many days was reception? My daughter got there last night at 1am. I heard I get another call when reception is complete. Can you tell me how many days that is? She is Osut I believe, 23 weeks for psychological operations. So she arrived on a Tuesday evening approximately midnight. Also sorry one more question. From what I'm learning she won't have a 10wk graduation if she is Osut so is it accurate I have to wait 23 weeks or is there any opportunity to see her before. Thanks so much in advance

How is the hearing portion at reception? Is it strict if you fail one hearing, or do they send you back home if you fail? Also, is it the same as MEPS where you put the headphones on and click the button when you hear the beep? I ship off July 27, and my left hearing is getting lowkey dog shit. I signed up as an 11 bravo (infantry) and meps sent me to fort leonardwood because of a wrong plane ticket. I was stuck there for two months doing nothing but sitting and waiting, it’s depressing, the bays and restrooms are cleaned by the hold overs (kids who have medical conditions or other reasons as to why they can’t ship to basic and are waiting to go home or get kicked out) the bays are nasty, there’s mold in every corner of the showers. You just sit down all day on a bench with no back support and read a fucking blue book in silence, sometimes you stand for hours and it’s really hard not to fall asleep. You’ll be waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning just to sit and stand all day feeling so tired with a small book and a green bag on your hand, the outside of the base is also depressing, no green at all just dead trees and grass and rude ass people, glad I left that shit place and left to fort benning for my basic.

Are the 43rd AG reception barracks still haunted? I was at the top bay during winter 2018. The barracks closest to the road on the far left coming from the cafeteria side of the 43rd AG path. At night during firewatch, I’d hear chatting in the distance. A lot of it. Like if you were in the cafeteria, but everyone would be asleep. And the energy in there was off, people claimed to see dark figures standing over their bunks at night. My one battle saw a dark figure walk into the bathroom, (you’re supposed to sign in/out while waking up at night to use the latrines) he thought it was someone but he waited a bit before going in there to check who it was, no one was there.
