Us in L.A. have always considered Pomona as L.A. County. The laws have classified Pomona as part of the San Gabriel Valley, or the 626. My aunts moved to West Covina back in 1990.

I moved to Pomona from Ohio in 1977 to start a new life. My new jump-start there was all good. I realize that I was moving in a different era, I always Carried big love in my heart for the city to this day. I remember when the homie Mike Weaver became heavyweight Champion of the world by defeating my original Ohio hometown homie Michael Dokes in 1980. I remember the other Pomona boxing superstar Sugar Shane Mosley. Big Love for the City always.

True enough that Above The Law did broadcast L.A. moreso than Pomona in their music during the early 90's, possibly for promotional reason(s) but yeah it was to some degree known that they were products of Pomona via some overt lyrics on their first 2-3 albums. I'm not from Pomona, i'm originally from South L.A. but am now in the Antelope Valley.

My family moved to Pomona from LA in 1972 these guys facts are so wrong I just don't even know where to begin. but they are very right about the LA County thing. I never bang, but grew up with people like Tim and Ray Charles actually they were my neighbors and would look after me. I Grew up in the islands from age 5 to 13 then we moved to the Northside ghost town. Just because you are from Pomona you didn't have to bang. No one pressure me to sell drugs to shoot at anybody. You either bang are you didn't Bang but you still fought for your friends in your hood if shit went down. Well it was like that when I lived in Pomona. Since then I've traveled around all around the world 🌎 to know life is much bigger than Pomona.

Pomona always been considered LA County out here in the 951. At a matter of fact theres never really been an established La Hood in these parts or for the least in The Lomas. Compton & Florence came in trying to claim but were diminished within the same year. Its just all the fools that come to the IE from other parts are the lames that couldn't handle their own hood then try to move and bang on someones already established sets. Well At least that's my theory on it.

Honestly, I grew up in the IE, I have a ton of homies from Pomona, I got my hair cut in Pomona every week, and at the time I shopped in Pomona because Indian Hill was the only real swapmeet (Im sure times have changed). I never really knew they didn't want to be considered IE, but then again we never spent time talking about that kind of stuff. Back then all black folks in the IE had one common bond, our parents shipped our asses away from LA to get us outta trouble, so we all missed home. Its cool though, because IE always had love for Pomona and embraced Pomona. As an African American though I always never understood why brothers from that area never wanted to help us when we had conflict with them racist Essays (I say racist because it was some cool ones we never did have issues with). We had all kinds of riots and was outnumbered 10 to 1, and for some reason we always thought brothers from Pomona would eventually come help us smash but that never happened. We always respected Pomona as being a place with real soldiers. Is what it is. Maybe it's a generational thing.
