Open Water was always the quintessential shark movie for me because it felt so realistic being stranded in open Waters all alone while the Sharks wait for you to get weak enough to drown.

The first movie was actually decent in my opinion. I actually loved the false ending too. My main criticism was that there were too many characters and they were all unlikable and underdeveloped. I would've preferred to see Nia Long as the lead.

I love all shark movies including Open Water. I like how when the couple first realize there left in the middle of the ocean they have high hopes that there boat will find them...but as the hours go by of them still being stranded in the shark infested waters they start getting emotional then it goes to them blaming each other and the husband starts yelling and screaming at the top of his lungs and there arguing and still blaming eachother. Then it gets to a point where it's complete silence and the husband is dead and the wife just decides to give up and die.

Outside of Jaws, Open Water is my favorite shark movie... Or maybe The Shallows, which I haven't seen but I've have seen some screen shots of.

loved the first one ... this one without Alexandre AJA on it ( Crawl, Hills Have Eyes...) i knew when i watched the trailer it would be dumbed... should have been a direct to DVD

I had no idea this movie existed until I was in Westwood one day and noticed that there was a premiere being hosted at the Fox Theater. When I asked around and someone told me the title, I had to try not to laugh. It's bad enough this got a theatrical release, but damnit, someone could have been watching Once Upon A Time In Hollywood in the space they took up.

I know it's not a shark movie, but the Australian croc movie "Black Water" has some RIDICULOUSLY good moments in it. Some stupid ones as well, but most of it is good.

I enjoyed it, especially the final few minutes in the open water.

After Jaws, Shallows is the best. The Reef is a bit underrated to me.

2nd favorite beside Jaws would be Jaws 2. Then deep blue sea.

The first movie cost like $2 to make and was originally going to go straight to VOD or something like that before getting a last second theatrical release, wherein it made $40 million. So of course it got a sequel. And both movies are entertainingly awesome if you go in with the right expectations. If you hated the idea of this movie so much, then just skip it and review one of the 30 movies from this summer that you never reviewed. Maybe even Ready or Not or Good Boys

Saw Deep Blue Sea in theaters when i was 11. It blew me away. A shark movie still has not topped it since.

Besides just 47 Meters Down so far the top best shark movies in my opinion are 1 Jaws , which is classic and always will be 2 Deep Blue Sea , another great thriller classic as well 3 The Shallows , a low budget movie but a dam good shark thriller movie 4 The Meg , even though theres no such thing as a gigantic shark but however was a great monster shark movie 5 The Reef , pleasantly good and scary and most of all unlike the others it was based on true events 6 Bait , another decent low budget shark movie as well

Can't really think of any other Shark films besides Jaws that I enjoyed. The Meg or Deep Blue Sea maybe. It just seems like all these types of movies are soulless. They either don't invest in a proper screenwriter, cast or director, have a too small of a small budget or they have a huge budget and waste it all on visuals instead of the stuff I've mentioned.

Hummm... well that depends which water you go... Im like 5min from the ocean and ive never seen a shark in my life. We dont have shark here, but we do have a lot of jellyfish loll Im from NB Canada and here the water is too cold for shark. Well thats what i think! We do have whales washing ashore after a big big storm but other than that, its just jellyfish, starfish, fishes, loster, crabs, eels and if we go far north you can see seals, whales. Sharks are very very rare here. I've only seen one video from a local fisherman who saw one and its one video in 30yrs loll and he went very far on the East, it was a 16hrs of boat ride to get to the spot where he was. So if your planning to vacation in Canada, dont worry about sharks. Just worry about the cold in winter hahahah

the best sharkmovie without counting in jaws.. jaws 2 was absolutely a cool flick but i didn't really dig any of the karakters except roy sheider, deep blue sea has it gong for its terrible cgi but very fun karakters.

For some reason I actually really liked this movie beside the screaming fish and how unreal the current felt kinda plus some of the acting was really bad and if we had more time with the characters we would have more of a connection with them but I will say the shots and the premise was amazing and the movie was still pretty good in my opinion

fav shark movie - Deep Blue Sea of course

One of the only part I liked was when the girl got eaten and split into two! It has pretty cool. I kinda felt bad that she was eaten because she was terrified and just wanted out! Also the suspense at the end was pretty ok. I was on the edge of my seat because they were so close to the ladder and got snatched by sharks TWICE! But yeah it’s still bad. MY FAVORITE SHARK MOVIE WAS THE MEG! IT WAS AMAZINGGGG!
