We go check out a turbo charged 1uz Toyota soarer built by a guy in his garage in nz. Its making 470kw at the back wheels. Running a link Xtreme.
The Cartune Company (2003) Ltd in New Zealand does 1uz and 3uz conversions / parts and wiring. We have been working on UZ Toyota V8 engines since 2004 when we did our own Hiace van to transport dirtbikes around NZ. Since then we have swapped to doing mainly just Lexus V8 work from a family owned farm hidden away in our paradise , surrounded by the NZ native bush. We sell parts and simple to follow wiring instructions for the 1uzfe engines. For enquiries email info@thecartunecompany.co.nz Take Care. Kelvin

Gearbox depends on which country you are in and whats available. Over here in NZ an R154 is a good option. Or T56. Some countries a CD009 is a good choice. For turbo it must be strong.

I just love these! Learnd about the Soarer when I lived in NZ (3,5 Years). Owned a 2JZ-GE Soarer in NZ. We didn't get these cars in Germany. So it took me 10 Years to find an SC400 (1UZ-FE 1993 build), which is a LHD Soarer with different gauges and a different Antenna. I own that car for 3 years now and love it. There are less than 20 SC400 in Germany... When I left NZ I couldn't sell my Soarer. It's my dream car and I couldn't let it go. Stored it at a mate's who had a 1UZ Soarer. The deal was, if it's not sold in a year, it's his car. Fair enough he took that car and put it to good use. I'm completely fine with it! It would be an absolute dream to turbo or supercharge my 1UZ but I haven't got the skills or the money to do so. And I absolutely want the H Numberplate for Historical Cars. It's really expensive to insure and tax that car right now and it will be sooo much cheaper once it's got the Historical certification. Love your work. Love Soarer/SC400 Love New Zealand

Can't wait to get an SC400 for a project car. Custom fab boost piping is going to be such a fun challenge and it's a pretty beefy engine so as long as you stay below 20 pounds of boost with fuel pump, rails, and injectors there is no need for internals directly after turbo install, although in the long run I would like to swap it to a forged block and internals and gut the car into a full street build.

@CartuneNZ

There are guys who have successfully used stock ecu with boost as the stock ecu is mapped very rich in top end with relatively conservative timing for a na. I see some succeed and many more fail do I never bother and go straight to a standalone.

You would delete the hydro fan and plastic radiator for aluminum rad and electric fans to free up space for a turbo or a set of turbos like td04’s. You can get an idler fan pulley from an LS400 and run a shorter belt once the hydro fan is deleted. Relocate the battery to the trunk and youll have all the room to plan out your turbo build.

@@mornehofstede4764 on the Dyno boost starts at 2000rpm at 3psi, 2500rpm 10psi, 3000rpm 16psi. 98 octane pump gas. Boost holds all the way but power falls after 5000rpm due to stock cams. Still makes good power though
