Because Alice in wonderland can't really be copyrighted, is it possible to still make the game but rename it and rebrand certain things so EA can't have power over it?

@@Kimo_Neko Unfortunately American McGee's contract with EA forbids him to create anything based on Alice in Wonderland outside of the property he already created for EA.

Because American Mcgee was asking for a $50 million development budget on top of even more countless millions on mwrketing from Electronic Antichrist!

So, like someone else mentioned. What if someone else was technically the head to create this third game. But altered things enough so legally it would be scene as separate while still using a lot of the work and assets that were already done?

@@MattIsTheCat If the game gets altered to such an extent that E.A. can’t take any legal actions.. I think it’s impossible to create a similar vibe and that would make it feel more like a cheap fake than a real sequel. I’d rather have no trilogy than getting disappointed even I’d like to go to a mad wonderland with beautiful 2023 4K graphics and a fresh new storyline. Tbh I start hating my taste. Regardless of TV shows or games most stuff I really like gets cancelled.

Still depending on EA accepting it. The "Let's make impossible things happen" at the end seems like yet another plea to EA to let him make this game.

Maybe the re-release on Steam had something to do with it. That's why I immediately bought it the moment it was put up. 😂 They're probably gauging how relevant the IP is to warrant a 3rd game. I really hope that re-release did well...

@@kratosscottkennedy9077 Mate that development budget alone is way more than the amount it took to create Horizon Zero Dawn or even God Of War III, hell if you include the marketing you could almost fund three high quality AAA PlayStation projects on that alone $50 million is a massive gamble no publisher wants to take even less so the investors backing them in the first place

@BambanGarcia Zero Dawn's production cost was roughly $49,000,000 so it's not way more than that in relative numbers. But that aside EA doesn't seem to have wanted to fund the game regardless of the high budget request. The game spent 10 years in development limbo with little to no word on it from EA

Sadly, it has been announced that American McGee is retiring and this game is not going to happen thanks to EA having the rights and they will not fund the development.

Is this new game going to happen?

@@WildLegio They didn't design Fallen Order, they just helped put it together. Virtuos mainly does support work for bigger studios. Alice: Asylum will be entirely American's vision.

Might be. He's had this made since 2018. Hopefully this is the nudge needed for EA to greenlight.

American Mcgee is asking for $50 million in development budget not to mention marketing would be around half that amount so suits are looking into a $75 or so million financial gamble from a franchise that never was a commercial hit, yeah kind of hard to disagree here

@@bamban_garcia5562 then they could've just sold the licensing rights instead of killing a series that started over 20 years ago...... but they want to keep the IP of a game they don't care about just because they want to have it in their catalog out of pure greed.

@@edelleaa The Alice IP itself has been free in the public domain for years now the gaming aspect of it not so much

His hands are tied. The IP belongs to EA. Until EA gives the greenlight (which they implied won't happen) or they release the IP (which they also stated they have no intentions of doing anytime soon) this project cannot go any further.
