Great Work STU! It is always great to see a fellow craftsman at work, I have been a Plumbing and Heating Engineer for 16 years, but was a Toolmaker in precision engineering for 23 years till I retrained at aged 39 (3 years college, and worked FOC with a qualified lad evenings and weekends) I recently did a plastering course to add another arm to my already successful business, and have got into 'Rendering' for summer work! I always appreciate your workmanship, I have been taught the same way! Cheers

Great video. I have question. When I had my house built, I noticed that when they built the facade, they put holes on the mortar. Why is that???

I'm here not because I know anything about brick laying, construction or even DIY (in fact I'm terrible at DIY)! I'm here because someone mentioned your SIlver Button story and honest hard-working guys being screwed over by the big corporations resonates with me... then I started watching your videos. I love seeing people building and repairing things with their hands, somehow strangely relaxing. Hope you get your button cos I'll keep watching (now subscribed).

Ahhh working with my dad as a young man brings back memories, glad I went to another trade but still respect masonry . Hands Súper fought dust all in your nose and clothes and felt like you got hit by a truck after a warm shower and cold beer sitting in the couch .

I find this so relaxing! What an amazing professional! Forgive me for asking such a silly question: At 4:18 you lay the final brick of the row, but you didn't load any mortar on the end....is there a reason for this?

stu crompton good to hear Stu. Absolutely love the channel and the obvious hard work you put into it. Really nice to see the relationship with your dad too. I’ve learned a fair few bricklaying tips which will come into practice in my new house..built in 1886. Lots of re-pointing needing done I lime render and I’ll be following your tutorials. На 22й секунде обратите внимание на швы кладки, сделанной ранее. Там все в высолах, значит придется кислотой обрабатывать. После завершения работы кладку необходимо укрывать.

Always some tool who knows nothing about the industry to put something like this. If I didn't see a bricklayer do this, I'd look down his wall and see a motocross track, hope the dude who just called a bricklayer a "brickie" stays at his desk job.

Hey everyone, could someone please tell me how can I check if the footings is adequate to take on more load? An existing brickwall, the owner of the property asked me to lay more bricks and make the fence larger. However, I have to assess if the existing footings is adequate for extra load. To assess basically I have to measure the width of it and the dig the dirt around it to find out how deep the footing goes. Is that correct or are there other ways of doing it?
