Mud-skipper 16hp 100-inch shaft on 1965 Starcraft 14ft v-hull. 7.5" prop, 14 mph unloaded. Engine hitting 3600 rpm, will try 8 and 8.5" props. Was getting 13 mph with 2 people (about 450-500 lbs plus boat)

For the amount of ppl that say v hulls don’t work with mud motors it seems like it works great

I would agree. Most act like it's cardinal sin or some kind of physical impossibility.

I have the 18hp on the same exact hull and im able to get 21mph with the 10" prop, thing moves!!!!!! I love the mudmotors on these rigs!

14ft vhull will best be paired up with 22hp I have a 16hp on my 12ft vhull and love it.

Does it do well in the mud? And how shallow can it get? I’m considering the same boat and putting a surface drive on it

That seems kind of low for a 16hp doesn't it? I had the 6.5 on my 1436 flat, and it would get us around 12-13 with 2 people and gear

Are you running this in salt water? If not are they built for salt water

Fresh. But I believe shafts are galvanized... And new shafts are only like $100

yes, mud-skipper is the brand I have. They are the cheapest. The kit works fine, the ergonomics of a longtail are pretty awful. You have to spend a lot more to get something nice though. Building the z-handle and using different lever for cable worked pretty good for me, but required quite a bit of time to get it all dialed in.
