4x4 & Camping in Australia | The Canning Stock Route Solo | Part 7 | Half Way!

Welcome to Jafffa Adventures where Jill and Terry take off for a half year trip through the remote regions of South Australia and Western Australia on a camping and 4WD odyssey. In this video we continue along the Canning Stock Route between Wells 25 and 27. This is around the half way mark in terms of the number of wells. We get into spectacular country with challenging red sand dunes, and the stunning Slate Ranges. Come join us on the adventure!
If West Australia 4WD and off-road tracks, remote camping, and hiking are not on your bucket list, they should be!!
If you like overlanding, if you like remote unspoiled places, if you like 4WD action, if you like camping from your 4x4 then this is the place to be.

I have seen a lot of csr crossings but the pace of your series beats it all. It pays going slow since you present so much detail while going. stuff i never saw in the videos of the big players. love it!

Thanks for the kind words mate. We did indeed take our time, I think all up it was about 24 days or so. Most do it in 10 to 14 days. I was however conscious of boring viewers, so it’s great to see that has not been the case for you. There are 11 episodes in total on the CSR before we get into the Kimberley, so a few to go yet😉. The extra traffic with too higher tyre pressure will always cause Corrugations. Their are poor and lazy 4WD'ers. Enjoying your Canning Stock root trip. Thanks for the informative show.

Funny I watched the overland travelers canning videos a little while back and that dune where you were commenting on the chopped up condition of the side you were driving down looks a lot like the dunes they were struggling to get up with that truck haha. Also how you bumped into them travelling in the opposite direction in, I think, your last video. What a canning coincidence!

Definitely not boring, in fact quite the opposite. I’m always disappointed the episode comes to an end so fast. I’m dreading the end of this series, you both do such a great job of (I know I’ve said it before) filming, editing and story telling/narration. I’m enjoying this far more than any of those so called bigger professional channels that do this for a job. I’m just loving it. I won’t mention names but a few years back one of those big channels done a series gong thru the CSR with a few of his mates. I thought it would be good but all he did was show him mucking about, playing jokes on each other and stuffing about. Turned out to be less than interesting. And he keeps releasing different versions but always showing the same footage. I don’t understand it. Anyway I better sign off. Didn’t mean this to turn into a book.

I watched the same series you mentioned and learned a lot about what not to do, or at least what I did not enjoy. I think with those gags you really have to be there to “get it”. Again, thanks for the kind words and feedback, I’ll keep on keepin’ on😎👍

Loving your stories of your first cars Terry. My dad also had a Pontiac Parisienne when we lived in Kingston Ontario, and it was a ripper of a car. Quick question, that you have probably mentioned before, what’s in the red Jerry can on top of the spare? Oh and do you carry second spare tyre only, or just don’t reckon you will need it? Also looking forward to the next episode and the beautiful rich colours 👍

The red Jerry is a fuel can. The vehicle tanks hold 275 litres in total and I thought for safely I would carry that spare Jerry for the CSR only. When it had fuel in it (day 1 only), it was in the Jerry can holder where the water is (and the water Jerry was in the vehicle). When I emptied it at the end of day one, I just duct taped it to the top of the spare to get it out of the way. I only carry one spare, but I do carry a plug kit of course, tyre pliers, and large patches and a tube in case the damage cannot be plugged. I don’t think I will ever carry 2 spares, tyres these days are pretty tough. Cheers👍😎

Thanks Terry, i suppose that as you have travelled far and wide and understand most conditions and how your car works in those conditions you are on top of it all. Have you ever had to install the tube?

You got it in one mate. No I have never had to install the tube, nor have I had to take the tyre off the rim to patch it, plugs have worked every time. Having said that, I’ve probably jinxed myself now😉🤦‍♂️
