Even though the commentary is EXTREMELY biased in a sense of the commentary I love it and I am an American. I love it because it shows so much excitement in the race. I love when people get excited for a race verses just bad talking other teams. The commentators may have been rooting for their home team but they made it very exciting and I love it. Jamaicans just talk trash these commentators just talked about the race and were excited for their team

+Kenneth Coleman true but they do at least mention the other teams, names of other teams' runners and some info about them, I've seen US commentary that doesn't even bother. The US coverage of the 1988 Olympic men's 4x4 said at the end 'trivia question: who came second and third? We don't know but will get the results after the break.' Totally disrespectful of the other teams.

+TheYorkMan well the Americans didn't exactly have it their own way at the Beijing world championships. Loved watching the drug cheat Gatlin get put in his place by Bolt and the trend of American favourites get their backsides spanked by so called inferior opposition. Michael Johnson commenting on the BBC was lost for words at how poorly the Americans performed. He said they were banking 30+ medals but they ended with around half of that. LOL. I hope the trend continues at next years Olympics.

I think this was C4 coverage. Unlike the BBC, they are independent and make no attempt to try to be impartial. Cram & co. on BBC are very fair in their commentary.

I think home bias is pretty universal,if not a bit cringe making sometimes.Cue slo mo close up of our boy coming in last in Heat One with the usual pathetic excuses. We get used to that over here!

Indoor racing is much tougher because of the tight corners and traffic. 2nd Leg for US blew it and left Ross with a mountain to climb. Hastings ran well. Ukraine and Russia forced Ross to consistently run in 2nd lane for both laps adding about 4m to Ross's run. Ukraine had no business running up close so early in her leg. She died anyway and just made everything more difficult.

I wouldn't say a 2/3 meter deficit at the final changeover was a mountain to climb.Especially when you're the world champ at that distance. What the hell are you talking about the Ukrainian girl had no business running up on her. It's a race, she thought her tactic of getting to the front asap was her best chance. Are you suggesting she should have stayed in 4th because it made Richards Ross nervous and getting her tactics wrong?

I wouldn't say that a 2m deficit is mountain to climb either. But it's not 2 or 3m if you run in the 2nd lane. The lane differences are about 4m per lap depending on the actual radius but overall it's closer to 8m over 400m if you ran in lane 2 versus lane 1. That's where the loss occurs. The 4x4 is an open lane race after the 2nd leg. When I say she had no business making that move it's from a performance and tactical perspective. I've run plenty of relays where some idiot flies by and then dies along with the person in first making a 2 deep wall to go around. So, yeah, you're free to be a moron. Even worse is when that happens a third person can now pull up and box you in requiring you to cut stride now to go behind the person on you're right, let him pass and then go 3 wide around the corner. Either that or wait until you come off the corner. It sucks. And yes it's Ukraine's job to run for her team which she did not do well in my view. Heck, maybe it was her best race ever. The reality is the Ukraine finished a pathetic 4th place 20m back because she had "no business" mindfully speaking, running up at that speed given her overall capability and then clearly dying. It happens all the time. No one suggested Ross was nervous or anything of the sort. Have no idea how you jump to that. The Russian and Ukraine girls basically died at the 240m mark and staying behind them through the 3rd corner, as most would do to avoid the extra distance, just allowed UK to get too much distance. Ross flew down the back straight to make up the gap. The Ukraine girl really thought she was in it, like she was going to win if she jumped all over the leader in the first 150m. A tactical error by any yardstick. I do think Ross made big tactical error as well at the second corner. She goes wide-right basically running the whole race thereafter in the 2nd or 3rd lane. +8m to UK. At 3:50 she fears the box-in described above. She should have run right behind UK. The Russian girl also runs in lane 2-ish in corner 2 costing herself another meter or so. Just absurd. Ukraine then dies and Ross forced into lane 2 . Easy for me to say looking at the race. It's indoors though so not a high profile race.

@@eizyaws Old video but hey ho! The order you line up in is the order the runners are in at the 200m mark. The Americans didn't follow that rule & should have been DQ'd, as teams other than they have been in the past. But alas, rules ignored & thrown out.
