5.5 kg real life Thors Hammer (Mjölnir) // 3D printed

Let me show you how I made this 3D printed Thor Hammer (Mjölnir) which I filled with concrete to make it as heavy as 5,5 kg in total. Don‘t miss the full timelapse at the end of the video. Of course everything has been clearcoated which I forgot to mention in the video. ;)

Dude this hammer looks amazing. You did a great job with the painting and weathering. You also look like a skinny version of Thor, maybe you need a full costume.

Great video! Are you planning to work more with XTC-3D or other resins in the future to cover the majority of seam lines before filler primer?

Sintoxic I still have to experiment with xtc 3d or epoxy but I also think it when you have geometric shapes and sharp corners the epoxy does round out the edges which I don't like. So yes I will but depending on the project.

Amazing work!! I was going to do the same 3d model! Im glad too see is very good model if you finish it like you did. I was thinking in put something inside to make it heavier and concrete is great idea. About the leather handle strap, would be nicer if it can support the weight of the hammer, I was thinking in get a larger strap, put it inside the handle, then filling with concrete, will be harder to fill, but when it dry, i think it will support the weight. Sorry for my english.

I think then you have to connect the leather to the steel rod. Otherwise it will be too heavy for the concrete in the handle

Awesome work. What type of glue did you use to bond the hammer together?

For bigger parts I usually use 2K glue and for smaller parts I use superglue

Im new to 3d printing and i want to try this but the handle doesnt fit on my printer. i notice that your handle came in 2 parts. was it like that in an older version or did u cut it in half or someething like that if so can u tell me how XD. Great job btw

I use Prusa Slicer where you can simply split the handle in to pieces. If you don't use it you can use meshmixer, but its a more advanced tool.

help! what's a good clear finish for the handle so it doesn't rub off the paint?

Any kind of clear varnish should seal it.

How long did it take to print the parts at that layer height? I am thinking of doing one almost exactly like this but 10-20% infill sounds like it would crumple if dropped?

I really don't know anymore probably 2 days at least. If you fill it with concrete it will crumble if you let it fall. But so will your floor 🤣

@@WF3DThanks for the input! I'm considering printing with .28mm to save time (Since it's gonna be sanded anyway) while having a LOT of infill so if someone drops it it doesn't ruin a big project.
