A friend of mine has about 30 vending machines. The biggest obstacle to overcome is vending machine locations. They are NOT easy to find. Any place which has a lot of foot traffic is aware of how valuable that location is and will charge you an astronomical monthly fee to keep a machine there.

100%, the larger vending machine operators in Australia know all of the tricks, it's almost like a mini mafia. To the point where they will sell locations (and machines) to unsuspecting buyers (for very large amounts) and then have a side deal with the location to kick you out in 12-18 months and put their machines back in. Rinse and repeat.

Hey Davie, I have been following you for a while now... and you the reason why I am getting into dropshipping. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and advice. I have an original product idea, not yet available from suppliers or manufactures. Reasonably simple and affordable to manufacture for any manufacturer. Would you recommend having it manufactured in China, and follow your recommended dropshipping process to test it? What would you do?

If you have the funds ready to go, then starting the ideation process will be beneficial for first movers advantage. However if you're lacking funds, then the dropshipping fulfillment route will be more cost effective in validation and testing the product without too much upfront investment.
