Kouri Richins will appear in court this week for a two-day hearing to determine whether there's enough evidence to bound her over for trial. Richins faces a long list of charges in the death of her husband, Eric Richins, in March 2022. Prosecutors say Kouri poisoned Eric with a massive dose of fentanyl and then wrote a book for her sons about grief. Ahead of this week's hearing, prosecutors filed a brief outlining their case with new details about Kouri's alleged actions and an affair they claimed she was having. Law&Crime's Angenette Levy goes through the new information with Greg Skordas, the spokesperson for Eric Richins' family in this episode of Crime Fix - a daily show covering the biggest stories in crime.

How is it still legal to take a life insurance policy out on someone w/o their knowledge?
@dougliner2521
@dougliner2521 28 күн бұрын
Well it is reasonable to allow a financially interdependent party to ensure themselves against the loss of financial support. If a financially dependent spouse or business partner was barred from getting a life insurance policy on their partner because the person who's financial support is being insured was abusive or controlling it could be disaster for the dependent parties if the income is lost. All policies prohibit payment to the beneficiary if they act illegally against the contract. Whenever there is a pending a an autopsy or open investigation where a beneficiary has not been cleared, the policy should not pay until resolution. Suicides usually alter the amount of payout, often to only remittance of the premiums paid. Illegal acts by the insured party resulting in death should also affect the terms of payout, which raises the question of her claim of illicit, illegal drug use. That is interesting because it could have affected the value of the policy. I just hope his children are either listed as secondary or were co-listed as primary beneficiaries or that the laws of that sate cover should they not be listed cover their financial interests since the marital assets paid for those policies.
@anonymity2882
@anonymity2882 28 күн бұрын
@@dougliner2521 So your argument is that people should be able to do it because they are too afraid to ask the spouse/partner? If that is the case than there are other options like divorce. I bet when she made the comment to her boyfriend that she would be better off if her husband was dead, that she was trying to see if he would suggest he would kill her husband. He obviously didn't take the bait so that does show he has some integrity, now not enough to stop him from sleeping with another man's wife but enough integrity that he would not kill another human being. I have seen so many of these true crime shows in which the woman makes these sort of statements and the boyfriend is right there ready willing and able to destroy the rest of his entire life for a greedy wicked demon with not so much as the bare minimum of a moral fiber.
