Hey, Brandon great video. Some of those I have not read so thank you. I just started rich dad poor dad based on your recommendation and loving it so far. Question though. Just sold my afterpay shares which I bought through my super and made $20k off of them. And I applied to have $10k drawn out of my super and will do the same next financial year. By selling them I have not lost any money I would have otherwise had I not invested. I am thinking of using this opportunity to invest in my first portfolio outside of super in an ETF portfolio consisting of VAS, VEU, and VTS based on Scott pape recommendations, for a high dividend portfolio. However, the current share price of those are very high and I wonder if I should wait or do something different. I want to invest in shares as a passive income avenue but also want bang for my buck. What do you think? What are your thoughts and what would you do with $20k that you had to invest as a first-time investor. I'm 30 years old with no house or children and renting

The Beginners Guide to Wealth by Noel Whittaker is a great starting point for teenagers. Covers success principles and basic money rules. Highly recommended. Great channel Brandon 👍🏻

The Intelligent Investor by Graham gives a great perspective of the good mindset to have as an investor in the stock market. It's a book written quite some time ago but still very relevant to today. & Rich Dad, Poor Dad was an amazing read as you mentioned it.

@@Mersal-uj5nh it's easy to think he made money in equities because of his skill rather than the general market moving up in a bull market. You can pick stocks that otherwise would go down such as Tesla that went up in a bubble.

I can definitely attest to Rich Dad, Poor Dad being a great starting point. Since childhood, I have struggled with reading and when I was around 16 years old I finished my first book outside of the classroom, it was Robert Kiyosaki’s ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’. This book not only opened my eyes to the Rich Dad Mindset but it also unlock my love for reading! And although I am still not a quick reader, I have learnt so much more than I thought possible about investing and personal finance from books! Thanks for the recommendations Brandon 🙏🏼

Can you do a video of the breakdown of your positions and holdings on the ASX and what media streams you use to compare them. Obviously you don’t need to include what you paid or your position size if that doesn’t suit you but I’d find that awesome content. What I own and why I own it as a breakdown! Been a follower for ages.

My favourite author has to be Jim Rogers. I really liked his books. They are not technical but you learn a lot from them. Street smarts is a really good read.

The first personal finance book I read was The Millionaire Next Door and it really helped me understand how to properly manage my money. Rule #1 is definitely my favorite for investing though.

Nice list! I personally got started with RDPD and got into shares but went into a more passive investing direction. My personal list would be: 1. A Random Walk Down Wall Street (Burton Malkiel) 2. The Four Pillars of Investing (William J Bernstein) 3. The Little Book of Common Sense Investing (St Jack) 4. The Intelligent Investor (Benjamin Graham) 5. Thinking Fast and Slow (Daniel Kahneman)

you need to be familiar with basic accounting and investing definitions to read it otherwise it can be tough but otherwise its probably the most important book on investing out there

Intelligent Investor was the first book I read and it's been so helpful. Also reading Financial Intelligence to understand corporate finance a bit better when looking at balance sheets and all the other stuff.

Awesome list I could not agree more with you Brandon. If I'd have to pick just one it'd be Phil Town's Rule #1. One of the greatest teachers of modern value investing. For the past 5 years he's been making a podcast with his daughter Danielle called Invested. Highly entertaining and educational. If you haven't already, you should definitely add Invest Like a Guru by Charlie Tian and The Motley Fool Investment Guide by David & Tom Gardner on your must read list.

@@NewMoneyKZfaq I read Rich Dad first in my teens like many people. I would say that Babylon is a perfect entry level book, It will be a tough decision about which one I have my child read first when ready. I do know that those will be the first two books.

Amen on "intelligent investor". Ive made it 2/3 of the way through and hit the wall. Already finished "100 baggers" and "the little book of behavorial investing" in the interim and have enjoyed both much more haha. One up on wall st is my fave so far. Business adventures was interesting also

@@mixingitup7653 same. i used to say ignorant things like "oh man i know as soon as i start investing the market is gonna crash" now? i'm licking my lips hoping it crashes i've only just finally finished chapter 8. buffet says you could get rich just reading chapter 8 and 20 alone, probably a little tongue in cheek. its a tough read however like brandon says. but it will be very rewarding. just like Christianity, the stock market has received a bad reputation based on the actions of humans

I definitely agree that Peter Lynch's "One Up on Wall Street" is a great and easy book to read. It was my 2nd book on stock market investing after The Intelligent Investor. Looking back I think I should have read One Up on Wall Street before The Intelligent Investor just because of how relatable and easy Lynch makes stock market investing seem.

I wish Rule #1 was around years ago. When I first read it, I literally got excited. Its well written, and extremely easy to follow. The key points are pure gold. Another book that may interest you is Valu-Able by Roger Montgomery. Its not as easy to locate as the others, but worth a read if you do.

He gets revenue per month from KZfaq, his courses, affiliate links. He hardly gets any monthly revenue from investing. So it can be a bit deceiving initially if you think he gets that income per month from trading and dividends. Like most people in this space they get rich by teaching other people how to get rich. The good thing about him he is open about this. He has a video regarding how he gets his monthly revenue. Also his information great, and clear and easy for the beginner investor

1. Rich Dad Poor Dad - Robert T. Kiyosaki. General rich person mindset, get on the right path. 2. Barefoot Investor - Scott Pape. Australian (not the best internationally), get finances in check. 3. One up on Wall Street - Peter Lynch. Makes stock market investing understandable, "you have to know what you own". 4. The Dandho Investor - Mohnish Pabrai. All the books are really fantastic. I have read Rich Dad Poor Dad, Dhandho and Barefoot Investor, I haven't read Rule no 1 yet and One up on wall street is in progress.

At 26 years old I started reading about one month ago and finished, Rich dad Poor dad. I see now how late I am to the ivesting and reading game in my life. Im currently reading never split the difference. I am really awkward in social situations so I want to get better at that too. I will definetly read lots of Finance/Investing and Psychology books. Ive made a list of about 12 books I want to read this year. thanks for the video.

I've ordered One up and Rule #1. Did my own independent research as well and these seem to be great recommendations. There were a few other good books but they were too biased towards funds as opposed to stocks. I've been dabbling with stocks for a couple of years now. I think it's time I up my game and knowledge!

Peter Lynch did not “turn” $18m to $14b, and $18m compounded annually for 13yrs does not turn into 14b- more like 500m. he added to his aum through add on investments during his tenure.

I would recommend the Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel. Fast read but packed with a lot of good information.

I’ve read Rich Dad Poor Dad and the Barefoot Investor and agree that they are great books! Thanks for the additional recommendations. I’ve given the Intelligent Investor a go in the past and just couldn’t get into it.

The first book that started my investing journey was Ramit Sethi’s I Will Teach You To Be Rich. Then I realise US and Australian financial landscapes are different so I picked up Noel Whittaker’s Making Money Made Easy.
