Absolutely the best prepping channel on You Tube. Quick, easy, efficient, to the point, no drama. She's raised a family, been a wife, now has grandchildren and did it all in Alaska and even spends time in the rough out at Granny camp. She's a true survivalist and a teacher. You will not find a better channel than right here. Much love and respect from Michigan.

Granulated sugar is also a good food to stockpile. You will need sugar if you want to be able to make jams and jellies from wild berries or home-can fruit from a backyard fruit tree or just make simple, frugal desserts from scratch. Desserts are good for morale during hard times. And a little sugar sprinkled on top can motivate a child to eat a bowl of oatmeal porridge when they really prefer to have expensive, sugary, boxed breakfast cereals.

You won't go wrong following AG's advice: white rice, all bean varieties, lentils, split peas, chickpeas, steel cut oats, pasta, spices, herbs, seasoning, bouillon cubes, coconut oil, olive oil, vinegar, cocoa, instant coffee, sprouting seeds, freeze dried or dehydrated veggies and powdered: tomatoes, cheese, peanut butter, butter, eggs, milk, potatoes, etc ... all stored correctly of course. Adding just a little at a time.

If you Google it, you've been eating bioengineered food ( GMO) for quite a while. Laws were only passed several years ago requiring it be put on labels. And just because it doesn't specifically say it doesn't mean it isn't. Those bar codes and phone numbers are ways to indicate GMO use. You have to scan or call to get the info. Clever, right? @@

AG, good point about not letting doom 'n gloom voices all across the web drown out the joy in life. I got to a point with a couple of channels that had gotten so politics-heavy and angry that it was making my otherwise frugal but peaceful life feel heavy. I worked hard for decades and learned a fair amount about how to make the most of my modest income post-retirement so I wouldn't HAVE to worry all the time. I hope those who watch you recognize that you're aware of the potential for down times but you don't dwell on them.

Thats how i buy things is in 52s so that its only once a wk. Sometimes it would take several weeks to get to 52s. Now its to the point where its every 2 or 3 wks x 52. So now hav 3 or 4 yrs worth!!! Ive done it slowly since summer 2019. It wasnt all at once!!!! And now its a little easier to fill in gaps. Like pasta roni n rice aroni but in several flavors. Same with hamberger helper and walmart artesian mac n cheese. Latter very tasty varietys with a can of chicken or roast beef thrown in. Quick n easy. Edit had one of the walmart artesian mac n cheese tonight with a can of chicken. Enough for at least 3 meals for one person n good enough to eat it in a row!!!!!

I have noticed labels started adding SOY to products, now products with SOY also have "bioengineered ingredient". Very happy I have put up things before March - when they started adding SOY. Seems my body rejects that. Smart body. 😆 It DOES like lentils and garbonzo beans so - no soy there - lol. Keeping my eye on pasta now, for --- SOY!! Cayenne is also a very good "blood stop". Just saying.

Thank you so much! Like you I dont have a dedicated space for all of my food and supplies. I get envious when I see nice spaces, well organized, and easily accessible. But we do what we can with what we have. I have food and supplies tucked into various spots. Clever and kind of fun to get creative. I try to have some rhyme and reason to it, but frankly I feel disorganized, and my rotating of food is way off. Thankfully dates are "best by" only, and are nearly always (in my experience) always fine several years past the date stamped on it. That being said, I want to do better. So got myself a project coming up. Just added more lentils to my supplies. Big fan, cooks quickly. Versatile. I also have canned varieties, but definitely get more bang for buck with a bag of lentils versus already cooked (great though to have on hand). I wasnt going to add more any time soon, but decided to buy red lentils since I mostly stack green/brownish. Much pricier option, but I found a bulk case for a reasonable price per pound. I get excited to add to my supplies, especially if it is something a little different.

Most valuable takeaway I got from this video was the mental health chat towards the end. I've been prepping for around five years now, so lightweight compared to many others here, and the past year due to financial circumstances have been living off the preps..so yes, prepping *does* work to our advantage no matter what happens. But it's so easy to develop a defeatist mindset, something I've been doing the past year as all my food crops failed for the first time ever. It helps to hear other preppers acknowledge how important it is to live our lives. I've let the gloom and doom steal my peace of mind for so long now but will work on that, like I do with my other preps. Many thanks for this timely reminder AG.

Figure out how much toilet paper you actually use. You need toilet paper whether you have food stockpiled, or not. Here is a link to a video I made on how many rolls of toilet paper to store or stockpile. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mr9zmbZjm5qYmqs.html

We definitely need water, and a way to purify it.

Hi Jeanette. Fishing, particularly fly fishing for trout, both rainbow and brown. Pike is also edible, but big bones, and carp. Pike will require a "lure" as it simulates a wounded fish. Carp are a deep water fish, so you will need a rig for that, but "tiger nuts" they go crazy for.

Hello AG, looking beautiful as ever... Great ideas & advise. I bought 6 plastic trash cans with lids. I divided out my food & other supplies (forks, napkins, matches...) and filled each trash can, and I stored them in different areas of my house. I also have items that I store in the large ziploc bags ($$ Store) to keep dry, things I don't want to get wet,,, ammo, lighters/matches, meds, $$, etc, you never know if your roof will leak during a storm... I even put a trap over boxes that I store canned goods in. *Water is not always your friend.* Also don't forget to perp *~Underwear~* You can wear "Unwashed" jeans & (some) shirts for a year, Not sure i want to wear the same uderwear more than 2 days without changing them. During a SHTF situation, be it for 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 whatever... *Washing clothes may Not be an option.* And I can tell you firsthand... in the summer when its humid, clothes take forever to line dry.

Just so you know, zip lock bags are not water/air tight (found out the hard way). Vacuum sealing is better.

Nice to have your supplies so organized. Keep an eye on your supplies for critters that chew and bugs. I just had a squirrel get into things!!

A squirrel in your house? I do try and look over my supplies every 2 days... I look for tell tail signs,,, and I have stray cat, he thinks he's a dog, I guess i'm his now, LOL... He patrols the house inside & out. He's a good old boy. And I try to eat from my "piles" of food a couple of times a week. Keeping an eye on everything is always a good idea. @@AlaskaGranny
