Yes!!! Suspenders! My gosh, they are so underappreciated. I absolutely love my suspenders. Not just as a functional piece, but also because they look incredibly powerful if I take my jacket off.

I like the tartan options. I used to have a black velvet jacket and yes, it was popular. I'd also recommend a kilt. It gets plenty attention too when it looks sharp.

Funny you mention a kilt. I was in Edinburgh for a month in August and went to Kinloch Anderson to have one made. Finally got it two days ago!!

The black velvet option is very nice. It would relate best to my social space specific to the holidays which consists of mostly close friends and family. It's interesting; as much as I'd like to take risks, and I'm sure as much as it would be accepted amongst loved ones it would still feel awkward and out of place. I don't attribute this paradigm conflict to an unbalanced social class within a specific group but more related to the style and design sensibilities within a specific group. Even though shared commonalities and interests can make for strong friendships and/or relationships, in this case; design and style - it should be viewed as a much lower priority than ethics and morals. Again, I'm sure it would be consciously and subconsciously accepted but it would still feel uncomfortable. Am I not confident enough in myself? Maybe. Brian, do you find you are often overdressed within the group but dressed correctly for the occasion?

Thanks for the very thoughtful comment. One of the reasons I like to dress well is that it makes me feel more confident. There is definitely an element of "reading the room" involved when dressing for a social occasion -- in other words, if you know you'll be hanging out with people who don't put time and care into their dress, you probably shouldn't go overboard because that will send the wrong message. But there is nothing wrong with looking good and put together.

I like Option 3. Option 1 is nice too but it’s a bit too bold to wear outside of Xmas holidays. I’ll just rock my Versace sweatshirt paired with my ASRV joggers and Native shoes. I have no parties to attend.

Very nice outfits indeed…but let’s get real now. We all know that these are outfits that are only nice to look at on KZfaq, for presentation and sartorial creativity purposes. No one here is gonna ever wear this, or have an opportunity this elegant to wear such beautiful pieces, unless you lead a double life as a secret agent by night. People just don’t dress like this, even for holidays or office parties, even if it’s at a venue. And if you do, you’re gonna be “that guy,” which is not a good impression to make. If it’s an office party, you better be the president, or an executive.

Actually, I’ve worn all of these things out in the real world. You’re right that you should dress for the occasion-these wouldn’t be appropriate for an office party-but if dressing well is important to you, you make your own occasions to wear what you love and feel good. Also, what you see me wear on KZfaq is what I wear. I don’t play dress up like so many other so-called influencers.
