Could you do a whole series on hair myths? If I see one more person throw a clump of hair in a cup/bowl of water, I'm gonna scream! I'm not trying to make fun of these people - they're going off of what they've been told. Although that particular myth has been getting debunked more & more, it is still out there, along with 100s of others. We need more professionals like you getting the correct info out there! Your knowledge is always appreciated!💜💜💜

Yes, I can. I’ll start spending more time combing through social media to find more of them. I already have a few more in mind, including that cup test thing. I’m working on getting my knowledge out there. Not too many have found me yet, but I’m still growing and going in the right direction! Thank you for always commenting and for supporting my channel!

So glad you covered this!! There are SO many misconceptions regarding curly hair in general. I won't name names, but there's a curly girl influencer who offers a wealth of bad information. She isn't too big on KZfaq, but has a blog, & is very popular on social media as well as curly hair forums. It would take me all day to list just what I'm personally aware of.
@VengefulAngeI

I do want to share what happened in the one KZfaq vid I saw from her. It was about how to get volume. She used some dry shampoo at her roots, & then went directly to her bath tub where she proceeded to thoroughly wash (scrubbing her scalp really well) & condition her hair. She said it was a "hack" and that despite washing, conditioning, and styling her hair, the dry shampoo she used prior to her wash day is what would give her extra volume. I couldn't make this up if I tried.

@@jenniferguevara2809 right?! I just saw this a couple of months ago - she came up on my recommended list, and although I was fully aware of her bad info from reading her "advice" a few years ago, I watched her vid out of curiosity - I didn't know what she was going to do, the title just mentioned something about volume. There were SEVERAL comments saying "but aren't you just washing the dry shampoo out?" And "But couldn't you skip the dry shampoo step?" Crazy!

@@CurlyChelle547 When I 1st came across her, I was very new to all the curly hair stuff going around. I had never had major struggles with my hair, & never straightened it. When I 1st happened upon the curly girl method (🙄) I thought well if their hair could change like that, what could mine do? So I dove in, & read mostly her stuff - she's a good writer, just bad advice. So I had some bad info without knowing. She wrote about her "hygral fatigue" phase, with pics, except it was actually a moisture overload with buildup. (I later realized). As a result, I went around for 2 years thinking hygral fatigue was the direct result of using moisture heavy/no protein products. I also began over washing my hair for fear of hygral fatigue, and between that and sleeping in a plop & sometimes an overnight conditioner too(tip from her), I'm lucky I didn't end up in full blown hygral fatigue!People look up to her, and she's out there telling people how to figure out porosity by that water test, as well as - wait for it - saying that low porosity hair is known for drying really fast once your hair is wet due to rapid water evaporation, whereas high porosity hair takes forever to dry due to it retaining water (according to her). My long winded way of saying it's really bad out there with the misinformation!

Could you do a video on all things frizz? My curly hair journey started a year ago, and Ive been thinking that I may have to just accept frizz in my life if I want to embrace my natural curly hair..is there an amount of frizz that's normal vs not normal? I've had wet frizz and even frizz right after applying my styling products..and of course each day gets frizzier despite attempts to refresh..help?!

I’ll put this on my list! I’ll give you a quick sneak peek though, you’ll have to accept at least some frizz in your life. All curlies and wavies have it. Goes with the territory. But I’ll definitely address your other concerns in a video! Thank you for watching!

I was told yrs ago(early 90s) by The Phillip Kingsley Trichological Clinic in London that even when hair texture is coarse that the hair should still feel soft. I have some hair strands that feel on the idea of fishing line or nylon thread, is that how coarse strands are supposed to feel? Or is it something I am doing wrong?
@CurlyChelle547
@CurlyChelle547 2 жыл бұрын
Some can feel like that. As long as the cuticle feels smooth and not roughed up. But it’s also a good idea to have bloodwork done to rule out medical issues just in case. Products with silicones in them are great for softening strands and increasing manageability. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching!

Can you please help me? I am a soon to be 47yo woman and I have not colored my hair in 6 years. I have some gray, which looks like highlights. I live in Texas where the humidity kills my hair. I for the life of me cannot find any products to wash,condition and style my 2b-3aish curls. Anything I use just feels gross like it’s just sitting on my hair and costing but not doing anything. I have hard water as well. I’m so confused cause someone said gray hair can act like high porosity hair. But when I read the description it seems my hair is low porosity. 🥺 Thank you
@CurlyChelle547
@CurlyChelle547 3 жыл бұрын
I’ll try to help as much as I can without seeing your hair. The hard water is probably part of why you feel like products just sit on your hair. You likely have mineral buildup. I’d suggest trying Malibu C Well Water shampoo and conditioner. It’s designed to remove mineral deposits from hard water. Also, if your hair is fine it will get buildup easily as well. Same with low porosity. There are many misconceptions about grey hair but it can be just as diverse as pigmented hair. I’ve seen fine, low porosity grey hair and coarse high porosity, vice versa, and every combination in between. I’d recommend starting with getting the mineral buildup off your hair. This should make an immediate difference. Then determine if it’s fine or coarse. This will have the biggest impact on which styling products will work for you. The finer the hair, the more easily weighed down so you’ll want to avoid heavy butters like Shea butter. Since you live in a humid climate, you’ll want to be careful with products containing glycerin. Or avoid them altogether. Using a working spray or a hairspray that is not aerosol can help with humidity. It can be sprayed on wet hair just before diffusing or on dry hair before coming into contact with outdoor humidity. Hope this helps, it’s the best I can do without knowing if your hair is fine or coarse and without seeing your hair. I’m going to be offering one on one virtual coaching. I’m just in the process of getting it set up so maybe that is something you might consider in the future soi can help you even more. Thank you for watching! Let me know how if you have more questions.

@@islandgurl4123 coarse hair can handle more emollient products and heavier creams. If you have low porosity though you still need to be careful about buildup, so clarifying regularly will helpful. Regularly can mean different things for everyone so it could be once a month or once a week. Go by what your hair is feeling like. My hair is coarse so check out my reviews and see which products interest you the most. Or my top 5 videos where I talk about my favorites. A great curl cream is the Bounce Curl Avocado and Rose oil clump and define cream. My daughter and I both have coarse hair and both absolutely love it. A gel I can’t recommend enough would be the Vital Curl by Ouidad. One of my all time favorites. Or they just came out with the more affordable Twist by Ouidad line and I thought their Weather Up Gel (white bottle) was amazing! It performed well in the humidity we had here at the time (normally it’s super dry here but it rained and was humid while I reviewed the Twist line). Off the top of my head those are a couple products that work well on coarse hair but are also not so heavy as to build up easily.
