James I’m sorry for commenting so much… I just wanted to briefly appreciate how much you and tucker have brought a fresh breath of air to my way too chaotic, and self loathing life. Haha. I’m in the hospital right now. I really needed this. I am not home right now to harvest the garden I slaved over all year. Thank you for taking me on your journeys of collecting some of the finest food on the internet. Love you tucker ❤❤❤ you’re alright, James

With beans, I just cut the growth down to the soil and leave the roots with the nitrogen nodules in the soil. Plant your next crop directly, and they benefit from the nodules.

I have a small section in my garden where last year I made some ridiculously good soil, cost me too much at the time in coco vermiculite perlite compost(was newer to it and bought expensive stuff) but it is such a lush section of my garden. Looking at your bed there and how freely you can move your hands through it without it being in a pot is a goal for my entire garden. Looks amazing haha

Zone 8b and we're still getting triple digits! Seedlings are a little leggy because I start seeds under regular LEDs in a small apartment and I garden out of a community plot, so it's kinda hard to garden. I can't wait to get my first real home and garden with easily accessible plots and equipment! Watching your videos give me something to look forward to and learn something along the way. Thank you!

Jimmy P you spoke to me during several parts of this video, you get it. Its so hard to clear out the summer crops and plant the fall varieties because you're just sitting and wishing for another 15 blaudhildes but the truth is you're better off cutting your (almost) guaranteed losses and starting the fall crops. Great advice as usual and as always much love from Bergen County --- 201 ✌️ 👌☝️

Thanks James and Tuck! ♥️♥️♥️ It’s also good to cut bean plants at ground level, leaving the roots and nodules in the earth. Those nodules are nitrogen fixing factories and great soil improvement! Then I plant cabbage or cover crop right in the bed. Believe me, I pulled a lot of bean plants before I learned about this!

In Florida I'll be pulling peppers and eggplant the first of October, but frost wouldn't kill them until Thanksgiving or after. Once the day length falls below 12 hours their production is super slow, so it's not really worth leaving them.

Love your videos and as a seasoned gardener myself I hope to see you talk more to your viewers about the importance of using NEEM AT NIGHT!!! NEEM OIL CAN HURT THE BEES. It's a wonderful oil and many people like it, I have some somewhere myself too. Once you've smelled it you'll never forget it. It's just so important to remember insecticides do not discriminate and Neem oil can harm the bees. Neem oil is safer for bees when used at night when bees should be in their hive. Thank you for feeding the bees and doing your part!

Its so freaking hot but I started my fall seeds a few weeks ago. My biggest issue is the lack of sun, if you don't time it right, your fall crops will not be big enough by the time its getting less than 10 hours a day of light and will just linger (or die) until spring. So get them as big as possible while you can.

A thought on timing: I can’t by any means plant out any fall crops just yet so I have to plant my brassicas etc (cool weather loving crops) indoors because I’m still getting 108 temps. Of course I’m in zone 8b and we don’t get our first frost until the last week of November to almost December 1st. Sometimes we don’t even get a freeze at all. For instance right now I can still get more zucchini plants growing and get another harvest in of those as well as tomatoes and winter squash and cucumbers. Don’t get me wrong, I’m starting my fall seeding but it’s all indoors for now until mid to late September when we finally get some non-plant killing highs per day. Lol. I moved here to the south from a Northern state where we got snow and temps in the single digits and sometimes sub zero esp with wind chill so this has been a learning experience for me. I just can’t believe how different the weather can be even just 10 miles down the road let alone across one state. So interesting! I like the tips on clearing and amending. I often only amend in the Spring so this is a great reminder to do it also before any major planting. Thank you!
