@@omegamale7880 Now that the words out about wood chips it's getting hard to find them. I have been exparamenting with hay and straw. and having good success. I grew potatoes in it this year and had great resualts. 9 pounds Yukon golds from just 4 plants. 22 to go. I cover my beds in it for winter. Do a search on "Ruth Stout gardening method" I love to try new methods of gardening. Good luck!

When to water is a great topic. Our customers ask this all the time. We help as much as we can with advise much like your own. What new gardeners need to learn is that they will develop a sense of when to water the garden. It' kind of like you say observe and listen to what the garden is telling you

James, by not watering as much you force the plants to search for water deep down in the soil thereby creating a larger, stronger root system to pick up more water and nutrients in the future. Kind of like how not spoiling your kids all the time can push them to have more motivation and a successful future. It also reduces the chance of disease which thrives on moisture. This is my thought process behind not watering as much, and I found once I did this my tomatoes grew faster! Now I stick my finger in the soil and if I don't feel much moisture, I water. I just want to say you are very skilled at getting the information and knowledge in your mind out in your videos. It is often challenging for me to do this off the cuff, but I aspire to be able to. Changing for the better is difficult but I'm learning all the time about gardening, video-making, and life through trial and error, researching and watching videos from inspiring people and gardeners like yourself. I'm not just saying this stuff to be nice or to get attention. I'm saying this because I truly mean it and I just want you to know I'm rooting for ya buddy! ✌ P.S. I swear I just started making a video yesterday on the top watering mistakes in the garden! Crazy timing!

Down here in northern Alabama everyone uses pine straw as a much. Mostly because everyone is afraid of termites and the soil is dense clay. I removed all the pine straw from around my apple trees and replaced with wood much early this spring and ive noticed a huge difference. It really is incredible how much moisture the wood much holds.

I follow you time ago and I never thanked you. What you do is really great, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I am starting a food forest in a very dry land, not enough rain. i have to water a lot now, I hope to reach that level in the future.
