Well three words "Reliability, Practicality, and cheap" Any army around the world would desire a good weapon for their soldiers but the problem is that making weapons is not cheap so they look for something that is "reasonable price" like a construction company that equipp its worker with the necessary tools 🔧 but not the "best tool" so they desire anything that gets the job done. Practicality- there is so many factors in terms of performance and combat, and even ammo, so many army just want something that easy to manage and most importantly something simple for most soldier to understand and able to understand their weapons. Reliability- the most important reason! You literally don't wanna have a weapon that fails you especially in the middle of a fight cause it can be a matter of life or loss death, you clearly want a weapon that can be functioning no matter what.

".50AE has ~1950J of energy. 7,62x39mm AK-47 round has ~2100J. Point is how much energy can a bullet transfer to the target. AK bullet can go through up to 6 humans (not hitting bones). DE round can go through less, but energy delivery per person is higher.

@@ChachoGSX It’s not THE strongest pistol caliber round, but the strength of a moderate rifle round with insane penetration (cuts through metal like it’s nothing) all in a pistol package is pretty good if you have the proper grip to control it. It also doesn’t kick nearly as much as some video games and movies make it seem (but that is most firearms)

The Desert Eagle is the type of handgun that the only way you could properly justify using one would be against a big animal like a bear. It's way too heavy to be a viable self-defense option against other people. A 10mm Glock hits like a semi-truck just like the Desert Eagle yet with a fraction of the weight and cost.

The .50 AE round is so powerful, that the Desert Eagle's cycle is similar to that of a rifle (gas operated) because the energy released by the bullet would destroy the gun if it was recoil or blowback.

My take on the myths of the DE Myth 1: Desert Eagles are the most powerful handgun] Well, yes and no. The Desert Eagle loaded with 12.7 x 33 (.50 AE) will make it the most powerful pistol. But the most powerful revolver, and therefore, handgun, goes to the Smith and Wesson 500, with a 10.5'' barrel and in .500 S&W magnum (12.7 x 41). The 500 is so big, you need a friggen sling and not a holster. (Disclaimer, I am not adding the Serbu Micro .50 as the most powerful pistol, cause let's be honest, that's just plain dumb. I am not adding the prototype .50 caliber Russian Revolver, cause it's just that, a prototype. I am ALSO not adding a AR-15 "pistol" in .50 Beowulf, cause the ATF is plain stupid.) Myth 2: Desert Eagles are good for- Absolutely friggin not good for self defense. For one, that's a big, bulky hunk of steel that you'll have to carry ON PERSON. The weight will be noticable. Also, the round is way too powerful for small frame shooters, so that's a no go. To add icing on the cake, it sucks as a conceal carry handgun. Too big, too bulky, too fricken heavy, and too much recoil. It's only good for meme carry, but that's just ONE niche. Myth 3: Desert Eagles always kill with a headshot. Well... yeah, that goes with EVERY CALIBER AND GAUGE EVER MADE. 9mm, yes, 5.56, yes, .22 SHORT, yes. Every gun can kill a person almost instantly with a headshot, but the best places are behind the head or at the temples. Full on at the forehead, can yield problems. If you're at close range, it's guaranteed: at long ranges..... yeah, guy my survive that shot. This is because, naturally, skulls are round and sloped. Just right, a bullet can and will ricochet off the skull, which at the very most is an instant comatose, and give them nice concussions and whiplash. Myth 4: Desert Eagles aren't just in .50 cal, and can work with other calibers. Yes, and the .50 cal versions offer that modularity. But switching out the barrel, slide and magazine, you now have... .44 Magnum, or .454 Casull, or other .44 calibers. OR, you can get yourself a Desert Eagle in .357 magnum. Although, those have less versatility than .357 revolvers (like default .38 Special and .357 chambering) and those are stand alone DE's, not interchangeable. Myth 4: DE's can shoot any wall. No they can't. BulletSword will explain.

1. “Most powerful handgun” being in the 44 Rem Mag range comes from that reality existing not so long ago; however, it is a dumb statement. I don’t know why people care about it. 2. It’s calibers are good for self-defense; small-frame people not being able to carry it does not negate the fact that large-frame people can and do carry it. It’s good for some people, evidently just not good for “you.” 3. Nothing “always” kills with a headshot; medical crap, terminal ballistics, max-effective range. Not the gun’s fault. Another stupid thing for someone to say. 4. That’s not a myth. There really are more calibers. 4 pt. 2 because you have two 4’s. This is actually just the same thing as 3.
@voltekthecyborg7898
@voltekthecyborg7898 Жыл бұрын
@@KH-rt3ef Read again, I did not mention .44 calibers in myth 1. Myth two is stating that, yeah, larger frame people CAN carry it, but should you really when there are literally better options? And yes, everything always kills with a headshot, especially if you know where to aim. And with .50 AE having a lot of energy, yeah, it can kill with a headshot. Myth 4: Yes, I know, read the whole thing. You're seeming like the idiot for not reading the whole thing. The Myth Title AND THEN THE WHOLE FUCKING ESSAY DEBUNKING IT. Myth 4 pt 2. I was tired, screw off

Background to the DE: Isreal was sent a bunch of US Surplus and obsolete munitions in the late 1970s, including a large number of S&W .357 revolvers (originally MP sidearms) and a huge quantity of ammunition. The IDF didn't like revolvers in the desert conditions, though, so they sold the revolvers on the civilian market but kept the ammo. The original 1980s IMI Desert Eagle was a 7-shot autoloader chambered (uniqely for a rimmed cartridge) for .357 magnum and issued to officers. Over time, as the US civilian market created demand, the chambering got larger to .44 rem mag then the new .50 AE. The options also allow you to convert down to smaller calibers, but not up. For self-defense or enforcement, .357 is actually optimum, as larger calibers often punch straight through a human-sized target and leaving a smaller wound channel, as US forces discovered in Somalia.
@DavidLLambertmobile

To my knowledge: 4yr enlisted MP 95B(now 31B) Army, no S&W .357magnum revolvers were used. S&W did issue many model 10 & model 15 type 6 shot .38spl caliber to MPs MPI: investigations, USAF SPs OSI(the detectives 🕵🏼‍♂️) . US armed forces never used .357magnum DA revolvers. The only unit I'm aware of was Navy SEALs Special Boat Units(SWCC) which used model 66s that were blacked out by gunsmiths. This was 1970s 1980s.

The FN 5.7 is the absolute best all-around sidearm currently available to the public, full stop. Sure, other pistols may edge out the 5.7 in specific areas, but the 5.7 performs well across the board. I realize my opinion may not be that popular, but I wanted to share it anyway so in the event someone was wondering “what’s the best sidearm for every day carry?”, they’d hear something other than “Glock”…

@whydoyougottahavthis
@whydoyougottahavthis Жыл бұрын
So here's the thing, the Deagle became popular in real shooters hands because of a very different reason, with standard magazines and a shooting competition course with 10 bowling pens you have to knock the bowling pins off the table, key word knock off, not just hit So the deal is this, do you go with a revolver that's powerful but requires you to reload? Or an automatic with more ammo but less powerful usually as the round that was used was either .357 or .44 mag, normally .357 and yes many automatics are chambered in .357, but they are NOT the size of the Deagle, with the Deagle and a standard magazine you had everything the automatics and the revolvers gave you in one giant heavy package lol

Re: lack of penetration? Try it with FMJ. If you're comparing to video games, you shouldn't be comparing hollow points. Hollow points aren't really military ammo. There are probably armed groups that use them and do fight in local wars, but in general they are considered a war crime and not really that effective against armor. FMJ ammo is much more effective against armor and much more legal.

Cylinder, not "drum". The term drum applies to certain types of magazines used in auto-loading firearms such as the Maxim, or as an increased capacity magazine like the drums used by the Thompson "Chicago typewriter" or the Luger. I don't see what any of this has to do with video games. You shouldn't base your knowledge of firearms on these.
