$5 DIY Damping Rod Tool for Motorcycle Forks

Күн бұрынI needed a custom tool to remove the Damping rod bolt for a complete front suspension rebuild on my 1996 Triumph Adventurer project. After the first attempt with some all-thread and jam-nuts that ALMOST fit, I successfully crafted a custom tool for less than $5 dollars out of a single piece of 1-inch PVC pipe, by drilling one hole, tracing a hex pattern from a nut, and filing the end of the pipe with a taper to grab the damping rod for removal.

Thank you for actually explaining what you are doing and what size everything is. Every other video just said put nuts on a bolt nothing about size

Pretty good thinking. Provided your damper rod bolt isn't frozen up this should work. Great idea, thanks for posting this.

I think need for a damper rod removal tool is what stops most DIY fork modifiers from drilling out their damper rods. Thanks.
