I also love your authenticity - you'll admit if your family didn't care for a recipe, if it didn't turn out the way it was supposed to, if you tried doing it one way and it just didn't work out (like mixing your meatloaf in the same pan as your dish with aluminum foil at the bottom - did you ever get that meatloaf with grease drainer?, etc.) I feel like I'm learning alongside you sometime. great job on the desserts!!!!!! I actually prefer the oatmeal pie over pecan pie. I am not a fan of pecan pie but I do love the oatmeal pie. For the krispy treats, I always make them for Christmas. For a twist, though, I use fruity pebbles at Christmas. They are so colorful, and you will have people trying to guess what you used to make them. Do it the same way as always, just switch out the cereal. You can also use cocoa pebbles, but the fruity pebbles are really pretty on a Christmas cookie plate :)

I have two kids that are allergic to peanuts and tree nuts and I feel the same way about feeling guilty with the pecan pie for Thanksgiving. That was always my favorite growing up. Last year I found a recipe that you could use crushed up pretzels on the top and I promise it tastes just like the regular pecan pie. I was so excited that they finally got to try it. Like I said, it’s one of my favorites!

I make a Pumpkin Dump Cake that is really Quick and Easy to Throw together as it takes fewer ingredients. This is my version. Pumpkin Dump Cake 1 Spice Cake 15 oz can of pure pumpkin 2 eggs 1 can of sweetened condensed milk 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice 12 Tbsp Butter 1 tsp vanilla 3/4 cup pecans, optional Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease 9x13 pan. In bowl mix pumpkin, condensed milk, eggs, vanilla and pumpkin pie spice. Pour into prepared pan. Top with dry Cake mix. Add the butter cut into cubes. Top with pecans if you want. I like to add them 1/2 way thru baking. Bake at 375 for 45 to 55 minutes. My daughter has a peanut allergy and Walnuts and Hazelnuts but she can eat pecans and almonds. . We love Eclair Cake. We even make a Chocolate Mint Version at Xmas. We substitute chocolate Graham crackers, white chocolate pudding with 1 tsp peppermint extract and a few drops of green food coloring to the pudding. Everything else stays the same in the recipe. It makes a Chocolate Mint Eclair Cake that reminds me of Thin Mint Cookies.

You know I have been subscribed for a few years but have had a hard time watching every Sunday. Well in June I had a major surgery that has had me down for the count. While I have been laid up one of your videos popped up and I was watching it. I enjoyed it so much that I listen to your videos all the time now. I even listen to it to help me sleep. Mel, I make the chocolate eclair dessert all the time. A lady that went to my grandma's church gave my granddaddy the recipe when she made it for a dessert for a bible study at her home. Also, I make my own chocolate sauce using cocoa.

Funny story; I LOVE chocolate eclair dessert and a lady in our church made the best. One homecoming I brought me a cup home and set it in the fridge to enjoy after my well deserved nap. Imagine my surprise when I got out of bed and pulled my Dixie cup of eclair out of the fridge only to find it empty. My husband had ate every bite and put the empty cup back in the fridge. I can laugh now but it wasn’t funny then😂

Just love these recipes, Mel! My Mom died this year & took the Eclair Dessert recipe to heaven with her! I'm so grateful now to have it! My daughter loves the Rice Krispie recipe but ur idea to add more Marshmellows not melted is fabulous- I might just get some of those colored ones! Every single recipe is a keeper just like you! I love the eclair cake, and I never thought to microwave that frosting. That little trick is going to take out the pain in the rear end that putting that frosting on used to be!! Thank you!!

Hey Mel,my kids love rice krispie treats and the mock apple pie you made,my Mom,older sister and I made that pie which my older sister still does,we call it no apple apple pie and it really tastes like apples,we never used a lemon or cinnamon,i'm allergic to cinnamon,it's so easy to make,hope you have a blessed Monday,love ya friend!

I know I’m over a month late to this video, but I wanted to say thank you for being kind about picky kids. I have a 7 year old son that is picky about flavor and texture, and my husband and I said years ago that so long as he’s eating, growing, and he’s healthy, we’re not going to fight with him about food. We get alot of criticism for it, but I just don’t have it in me to force someone to eat something they find unpleasant, just for the sake of variety. It’s refreshing to hear another mother say it, rather than cast judgement. Thank you.

You're so welcomed, I feel exactly like the same way. One of my daughters was born very premature and had lots of texture and sensory issues - and people that have never dealt with these things just DO NOT understand in the least how it is. And you know, as adults, we don't eat what we don't like do we.... why make our kids. I say follow the advice and recommendations of their pediatrician, NOT the general public 😉 And I'm proud to say that today, 18 years later, my picky eater loves all different kinds of food and will try new foods all the time. Because she has learned from experience that if she doesn't like something, she doesn't HAVE to eat it 👍

My mom always made rice crispy treats for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She would make them red and green for Christmas. There wasn't any leftover ones, but she usually left a few at home so we would have some the next day.

NO WAY!!!! Lol 😂 I’m laughing so hard about that last pie!! Omg’sh!! I literally have a debacle because we love Apple Pie, but my Mister has a major texture issue, so he can only eat basically applesauce pie! And I have a big bag of apples right now that I’m dreading using because of that. So, trust and believe that I’m making your pie recipe ASAP!!
