Your voice is soothing; as a beginner, I find that this is very important! So many knitting videos are abrasive, with "cute" comments throughout. I also appreciate your content, you are a good instructor. I liked and subscribed!

We are never to old to learn--i will be 83 next month! I do find that my arthritis interferes with some instructions for tensioning, but I find my own manageble ways. The best to you!

Very helpful! Just what I needed as I get ready to cast on 300 stitches for a shawl. I have a hard time measuring a longtail for that many stitches, and these are some great alternatives.

I just tried the one with chains on the edge and found an easier way to do that. Just crochet with a bigger size hook or even your fingers a chain and put the back bump on the needles in the same direction.

Yes, I use crochet hooks a lot and you're right, they are very useful. But not everyone have them.

Thank you. This video is clear and makes casting on as simple as it should be. The last method works best for me and is very fast.

Have done several knitted projects and have learned so many different cast ons.! Thank you! I love not doing long tail for huge starting stitches. Great collection! Next time do larger needle if possible😊.

Thank you for sharing these cast on methods with us. There's only one that works for me, some may call it the lazy cast on but it is the one that I can do successfully and faster.than any of the other ways shone to me. In time, I may get the hang of the other ways. I'm just getting the hang of recognizing which stitch is which and what to do when I encounter said stitch. How to catch and fix a dropped stitch. Number 3 demo, is what I know best.💖💖💖

Stitch #1-knitted cast-on, stitch #2-cable cast-on=not stretchy at all, very firm. Stitch #3- Backwards loop cast-on or E cast-on=stretchier than 1 and 2 but very loose and unstable. Stitch #4-Provisional cast-on=not stretchy if used as is. Stitch #5 is an unusual combo of #1 and #3-moderately stretchy.

I appreciate that you show the 5 different types of casting on but for us beginners to knitting you need to slow down and for the 2nd technique you do not show/explain how to wrap the yarn around your finger that is pulled through. Thank you all your techniques are helpful

are there any pros and cons of these various cast ons? Also, I read that by purling the first row it will look the same as the cast off row. Any truth to that?
@VitaCrafts
@VitaCrafts 3 жыл бұрын
Re pros and cons it's all about trying and see if it's good or not for your particular project. Don't think that second part is true 😊.

So the one cast on done in the light blue yarn is a different version of the provisional cast on? Is that correct?
@VitaCrafts
@VitaCrafts 10 ай бұрын
Just saw couple videos about provisional cast on, it's many different of them, no one is like this blue one, maybe more like a grey, which you can do with help of crochet hook.

Your demonstration is very clear. It would be more useful if you included the names of these cast-ons. I think the first is knitted CO, and second is cable CO. (You could add the names in the description panel, to avoid re-editing.)

I didn't found specific names for every one of them, will see again. Thank you for feedback 🙂

Yes, you're right 😆, it just tips of my interchangeable knit pro needles. When I connect them with cable, it hits on table and makes lots of annoying noises. That's why I just disconnect them. Happy it was useful for you anyway ☺️ and thank you for feedback
