This 5 minute high intensity interval training session (HIIT) will get your heart rate up and burn calories! This workout can be done standing or in a chair. Benefits of HIIT include improving:
✅ blood pressure
✅ cardiovascular health
✅ insulin sensitivity (which helps the exercising muscles use glucose for fuel to make energy)
HIIT can also help lower cholesterol levels and abdominal fat and body weight while maintaining muscle.
This workout includes five exercises in 30 second rounds with 20 seconds of rest in between intervals:
✳️ Jumping Jack
✳️ Fast Arms
✳️ Out out/In in
✳️ Knee ups
✳️ Punch ups

Love this! I am obese, 61, and haven't moved much in over 2 years. I could do this while sitting and am proud to have finished it. My heart rate went up. I can see me doing this at least twice a day and build up to the other exercise videos. My shoulders have been hurting lately and this will get them moving. Thank you so much. You just may have saved my life! ♥

Me too - 66 obese, mostly stayed home this past two years. I adapted this, got my heart rate up anyways and feel successful for lasting the whole 5 minutes. Maybe I am not permanently broken. All the best to you!

A great mini workout - enjoy these brief bouts of getting one to move more energetically. And the structured moves can be repeated (as you mentioned) for longer durations, if one so chooses. Good to see Mochi by the window. Thumbs up, as always.

I love this 5 min. hit! perfect for when I'm short of time. I stretched, did this cardio, and stretched again. I felt great! I was stressed before I started, but it totally took that away. Recommend to anyone short of time.

I really like this video! I always think of HIIT as something that's too hard for me to do, but in 5 minute increments I nailed it! Now I'm looking forward to trying some sessions where I can slowly increase my duration. Thank you both for making this available to us seniors!

Love this 5 minute HIIT workout. Please could you do some more of the 5 minute HIIT/Cardio routines. It’s winter here in Witney Oxfordshire England, curtains are drawn early, you don’t see anyone and temptation is to just sit in the chair watching TV all evening. What I try todo is sometime in every hour get up and do some movements for at least 5 minutes, so your 5 minute routines are absolutely ideal for this, the bonus is I feel like your talking to me so that is a win win. Please say you will do more of these short routines. Kind regards and a big thank you, Caroline.

I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. I don't move much because of pain, but I have to do something. I searched for a 5-minute workout and found this video for seniors. Oh my gosh, I love this. I did the exercises for the first time and didn't have to stop because of pain. I will work on building up to three times a day and then do longer videos. I need to lose a lot of weight, and I hope these exercises help! I subscribed to the channel and bookmarked the page. Thank you for providing these easy exercises that even I can do!

I really love your 5 min. workouts and especially this HIIT one. I can do these at different times of the day. They call them "exercise snacks". I am 83 and lucky to have these from you and your Mom. YES!

Thank you so much for recording your videos. I work at a computer all day. I now am able to work from home, so when I'm feeling tired of looking at the computer screen, I can take a break and do the 5 minute HIIT workout to get the blood pumping again. These are perfect!!

Oh yes! Demandingly intense and very effective! I had done your 20 minute walking workout #2 and needed to add 10 more minutes to meet my goal of 30 minutes per day. So, I added this workout back-to-back and I'm now luxuriating relaxing while I comment. A great little workout to tuck here and there between and after longer workouts. Love it. I'm only 34, but have a chronic illness. I want to get fit and have been doing yoga, but knew I needed to add in more to get my heart rate up. Your channel is awesome! This was a great, quick break from work; thank you! As someone else commented, I, too, appreciate the short HITT sessions (as well as all your others). Five minutes, or even ten, is easily doable during work hours. :-)

I'm so glad you included a quick warm-up with this one. That way I was able to start right off with it and get some good cardio in right at the beginning of a longer workout, which included a couple of other short workouts, targeting both upper and lower body, followed by a cool-down. Unfortunately, I've been unable to keep up my commitment to daily exercise for the past several months due to a variety of circumstances, but it helps me so much both physically and emotionally when I can work out daily, and I'm trying to get back into it. This video was a great way to start today, and I hope to continue using it to get me started on a more regular basis!
