You should! It’s worth a try at least once…or thrice.

Got some aging in the cellar! Probably a bit spendy for everyday, but a great occasional treat.

Yeah it is a bit pricey, huh? It’s soaking up my monthly ‘baccy allowance! 😆

You’re welcome! No reason to start with anything less in my opinion. I’m cracking a new tin tomorrow morning and I’m excited! 🙏🏻

Impossible to buy Escudo in UK unless we import from USA - question - Is Peterson de luxe navy rolls the same stuff? Both made by STG - we can get de luxe navy rolls very very easily

The theory is..yes, they are wildly similar. 🤔

I've only smoked one bowl of this... many years ago when a fellow student offered me some to try. I must not have liked it as I never went back to it He was a character... if you offered him some of yours he produced a very big pipe... his "borrowing pipe".

...I think I have a pipe like that 😄

@@calebwhiteknives Of course if you smoke different tobaccos in the same pipe there is the "ghosting" problem

Damnit Caleb my tobacco order just shipped and now I gotta place another separate with extra shipping😂 it sounds similar to my Orlik....oh well I wanted the pipe shaped pipe tool anyway lol I've been on the fence on that tin but you make it sound like its worth the price.

😂 I have that same darn problem. Orlik is good, real good, but Escudo jumps over to great quickly!

Hey Caleb, so what's your advice to a new piper having trouble tasting flavors? I have to pipe outdoors and I'm wondering if that's an issue.

It can effect things a little bit, particularly if windy. But, the real key to flavors is going slow: rhythm and cadence play a huge part in bringing the most out of each flavor in the tobacco. As a rule; too hot/hard/fast and you'll just singe the 'baccy and ruin the bouquet. Some blends though, just plain and simple take time to learn and develop a taste for. Once you've roasted your tongue or burned the bowl too much, you won't get much out of it after that. I would also stop before you get to the bottom of the bowl. Universally, the bottom 1/3 can be pretty much just ash taste, which will wash out your whole experience. What you are drinking with it also can affect the flavors. I shoot for something neutral like water, or a coffee with no sugary creamers. Some can be supportive, others detraction. Make sense?

@@calebwhiteknives Sure enough! Well, as with all things worthwhile, perfect practice makes perfect. I'll keep at it, I'm enjoying the true gentleman's hobby.

@@pbase36 It's highly enjoyable, and more so after you put a few miles on some pipes, and figure out your favorite blends. Your personal palette and the way it responds to different 'baccy's also plays a part.

@@calebwhiteknives So far, heavy Latakia blends are the only thing I can "taste." That, and Sutliff Mint, which is actually quite strong! Thanks for the help, Caleb, will keep at it.
