Jimmy..most of your videos are good. But this one throws caution to the wind on bond ratings. HYLD and the other bond related ETFs mentioned are the worse possible ETFs to invest in right now. the bonds are rated closer to junk. High yield generally translates to "junk" quality. It would be nice if that was explained at the start. QYLD and SDEM are both good investments.

When it comes to expense ratios and comparing funds, should the expense ratio subtract from the dividend, performance, both, or is it something else?
@LearntoInvest4 жыл бұрын
Really it would subtract from the potential performance. It won't technically touch the dividend . So a higher fee would lead to lower performance

@@LearntoInvest Hi Jimmy, I have 2 questions if it's okay to ask. 1. How many of each particular ETF do I have to buy to make a good amount of dividend payouts. It's not worth just buying 1 ETF, correct? 2. Is a mutual fund similar to these VTSMX Vanguard total stock mutual fund or VWUSX Vanguard Total Growth mutual fund good to put in my Roth IRA and add the max of $6500 per year. My new retirement portfolio (10-15 years holding (2035) is going to consist of and always maintain "one mutual fund in my Roth IRA" , 5-10 ETF's and 5-10 dividend stocks like Cisco, Ventas and TJX International. The mutual fund will be the only fund in my IRA. The ETF's and Dividend stocks will be in the regular section of my retirement portfolio.

you just don't understand the purpose of bonds. they are not to grow money. they act as a hedge against market crashes. instead of holding cash, you can get income from bonds as you wait for a crash, when a crash comes stocks go down and then bonds go up. the idea is that you would take the money from the bonds out instead of stocks and you can buy more stocks with that money or use it to live on.
@enriquerivero40513 жыл бұрын
@@radiatedracer3830 I think you should read the principles of investing, when a crash comes bonds and stocks crashes, it might be possible that bonds crashes but not that much as a stock when a crash is takingplace.
@radiatedracer38303 жыл бұрын
@@enriquerivero4051 you only took a sentence from what I wrote and discarded the rest. reread what I wrote and try to understand. my bad, I should have wrote bonds might go up, but what do I know, it only worked in this latest stock market crash perfectly. as stocks were falling my bond etfs were flying high, if I lost my job I could have pulled my money out of bonds, even if the bond etfs go down it is better than pulling from stocks. in the end, I converted my entire portfolio into stocks during the crash

Jimmy would you say there's a fundamental difference between high-yield bond & high dividend-paying stock ? I feel like it makes sense when a smaller enterprise needs to issue high-yielding bond in order to attract investors. However, small companies that pay high dividend makes little sense to me ... since it appears they're more focused on pleasing investor than growing their business.
