The no takebacks rule makes a lot of sense, since Yu-Gi-Oh allows interrupting plays. Making a move and then taking it back gives you information about the opponent's traps.
@Lightn0x
@Lightn0x 9 ай бұрын
No takebacks makes sense in general in a competitive environment. If I'm focusing and trying to play at 100% capacity, I expect my opponent to do the same. If you think that's harsh, consider that in chess, if you just touch a piece, you are obligated to move the piece you touched. And once you take your hand off the piece, that's it, that's where the piece stays.

We had a local (fairly good) player lose to a random Magic Cylinder in an otherwise unremarkable deck once, and his reaction was hilarious. He started ranting about how bad the card was, and that his opponent shouldn't be playing it. The thing is, Magic Cylinder is a very all or nothing card, when it's at its best it's awesome, but most of the time it's unimpressive. Anyone can win with Cylinder now and then, but it doesn't win consistently.

Coming from playing magic i cant believe that you cant double sleeve cards. Ive never been to a mtg tournament without my deck doublesleeved. People are going to be handling 100's of dollars of cards when they cut my deck or when they look at a card to read it, and you have no idea where their hands have been. Not to mention the benefit of having a seal inside of your outer layer of sleeve in the rare chance that something spills. Perfect fit sleeves + an outer sleeve is essential for keeping cards clean. It also makes 60 card decks a ton easier the shuffle because the cards become wider.

in the anime, field spells were inserted in a slot on the end of the d-disk (so definitely would be obscured) but im not sure if real duel disks have this function... also i believe extra deck cards were simply kept underneath the players decks. as for no extra deck zones you can attribute that to konami not releasing new duel disks for years, but yeah you wouldnt be able to use them in the current meta regardless of tournament legality

I think the intoxication rule is also because although the player may be having fun under the influence. It might not necessarily be fun for someone else who feels uncomfortable around such a thing or in some cases threatened by it. As intoxication for a lot of things goes hand in hand with abusive or unconventional behaviour. Wether it be something minor like being loud, or something major like being verbally abusive.

you can have an OCG card and pull out a translating a simple comma can lead to a miss timed thing. not just a typo in the translation a simple example is overtex coalts in the OCG doesn't use the word "when" it uses "while" if you translated it but from context you understand the word means "when" its like telling the difference between the sentences i have read a book and i will read both words spelled the same but the pronunciation is different. Anyways that difference in wording with regards to overtex coalts would mean you can activate it gy effect off twin twisters when you in fact cannot Unless you wanna see ultimate conductor tyranno nuke your board it makes sense why OCG cards are not allowed.

Also, just wanted to drop a tip for local tournaments, where you aren't required to provide a deck list: don't make changes to your deck mid-tournament at locals. I've seen a lot of kids get in trouble for doing that. It is usually younger kids, like 12 or 13 year olds, but some people just don't go to locals until later and do it because they assume it's not a very formal tournament and it doesn't matter. But, I have seen store owners get on people's case about it. I've seen people get disqualified, I've seen people get off with a warning, and I've even seen someone get banned from competing at that store because they did this multiple times. So, if this is you and you haven't gotten caught doing it yet, you should probably stop doing that before you do.

The only time that would help, is if you "Double Sleeve" the card from Top to bottom (one sleeve placed on the usual way and the other going the other way)...However they do make Sleeves with a water proof hood or you can tap off the top.

I personally always Double Sleeve my cards when im not at locals or any other tournament, the humidity kills foil cards and there is no worse feeling than seeing your 95$ Infinite Impermanence suddenly have a huge Arch in it. So for me personally I just simply take the 2nd sleeve off before the tournament starts and then either once its over or I drop from the tournament in the case of bigger events I put the 2nd sleeve back on. its more of an issue of combating warping than it is for protecting sleeves in my case.

in the case of double sleeving, if you have one sleeve with art or an opaque back and you want to cover it with a 2nd completely transparent sleeve for extra protection i really dont see how thats an issue. with two opaque sleeves yeah you could hide a card in between, but if the 2nd outer sleeve is completely transparent by all means it should be fine imo

For the "tap" thing, it probably refers to how a lot of players, who choose not to cut when offered a cut, will tap the top of the offered deck with one or two fingers to indicate they won't cut. Any motion involving touching the deck in some way without actually cutting any cards seems to come across just fine, just most people choose to "tap." There's also the actual in-game Magic the Gathering term "tap," which, to simplify somewhat heavily, refers to turning cards that remain on the field sideways when they've been used since your last turn. Creatures (monsters), for example, tap when they attack.

You forgot the rule that if a player skips over a non-optional effect and it isn’t corrected before the gamestate becomes irreversible, they get a game loss. If the player, however, *intentionally* doesn’t remind his or her opponent of a mandatory effect that could drastically change the gamestate, that can be considered cheating via rule sharking and can get you Match losses. If both players fail to catch the error, then the turn player can recieve a game loss. However, if the player in question catches the effect and his opponent refuses to let him or her resolve it provided the gamestate is reversible, that can result in said opponent recieving a game loss. In short, always remember your mandatory effects and be courteous and do the right thing by reminding your opponent of mandatory effects.

As per the Konami official tournament policy v 2.1, you CAN double sleeve your cards with some stipulations such as the 2nd sleeve being clear on both sides, being placed in the opposite direction than the 1st sleeve, and, of course, only 1 card can be in the 2 sleeves. About not being able to take back plays, in Konami's tournament policy it says that actions cannot be taken back once a player has committed to them, so the way interpret that isn't always if it's the last move, but generally if you do something and then haven't done much else but within a few seconds you realize another option, I let my opponent take it back. I'm extremely lenient on that kind of thing even when it's like, for example, my opponent forgets to search off of one of their gouki. Granted, that's locals. You're supposed to be getting better with your deck in order to be a better duelist. At a tournament if that happened I would probably let somebody take back a summon like if they normal Candina and then realize they had hornet drones in hand or something and want to take it back, I would let them redo that, if they summoned Unicorn but decided they shouldn't, I would let them redo that, but if they summoned timegazer off of chronograph and forgot to use Darkwurm, I wouldn't let that happen because that's a lot more of an obvious thing that they need to remember on their own to activate. Just my two cents. Also just as a question, in Battle Step all cards are activated both in response to the attack and in response to the previous effect, so if I attack with, say, DDD Cursed King Seigfried, and my opponent activates storming, I negate it, can they now activate another storming? It would be chain link 3 in response to the attack and Seigfried's effect, so I'm not sure. I would ask the more experienced judges at my locals but I don't go until this weekend.

You can’t for the reason stated above. Anything that can be mistaken for a game piece that isn’t listed on your Deck List but is in your Deck Box not marked explicity as a Token *on the card itself*, is fair game, even if it explicitly says it can’t be used. And to list something like that on your Deck List would likely raise some serious eyebrows at the Judges’ Table. TL;DR, if it’s a YGO card (even one that says it can’t be used in a duel) that is in your Deck Box but not on your Deck List, it can get you game losses. And if you put a card with the “cannot be used in a duel” text on your Deck List, that too is not allowed, as you are technically using that card to play in your deck regardless of whether or not it shows on the field or in your hand. So no, you cannot, under any circumstances, have a card with the “cannot be used in a duel” text on it in your Deck Box during an official event unless the card itself is explicitly marked as a Token.

I have some more 5 things you can not do at YGO events. 1. Note Taking. Back under UDE you could take notes. But Konami limited the Note taking also you can not review those notes between rounds as well as you can not share notes or information about the person you just played. 2. Weapons. You can not bring weapons to Tournaemnts (EVEN IF YOU LEAVE THEM IN YOUR CARS) This did not happen at a YGO event but a Pokemon event many years ago were people showed up with Guns at the Pokemon World Championship and the Police were called and they were arrested. It turns out even Konami does not allow Weapons at Events. Even if you leave them in your car you can end up facing not just DQ but criminal charges. 3. If you are Banned you can not show up at the venue. Even for Non YGO Games. Even if you work for the Venue When Banned its like having a Restraining Order placed on you. But it only covers during the YGO Event once the event is over you are free to go to the venue and hang out. 4. Hobby League Cards. Yes they are Legal YGO Cards but if you can tell them from other cards in your deck face down then you can not use them early hobby league cards are more thick then later ones. These Cards are a grey area of if the card is legal and you should always get the approval of the Head Judge before using the thick cards. 5. Exodia. You can not just flash them you must show them to players. I have seen at many tournaments were players will flash and say I have Exodia No the official way is to show them Also you can not place them on the table either. I know players who do this they will lay them out one at a time from their hand to show they have them in their hand This is not the official way either. Most Judges will not say anything but I have had a few ask why all 5 Cards were summoned. A 6th one with that In a Duel were you won with exodia you CAN NOT shuffle the cards one at a time back into the deck you must place all 5 cards into the deck and suffle even if you are trying to make the duel more fair by spliting them up during suffling its not legal to do so this is class as stacking your deck. On 3 side note 1st note you should bring up there are 2 Tournaments you Can play OCG cards the first is World Championship and the other is the World Championship Celebration Tournaments. I get asked all the time about if OCG cards are not allowed normal why are they allowed during these events. I have to explain that during worlds players who are invited are not playing YGO TCG they are playing a Mixed of TCG and OCG Were the WCC tournaemnt we get to play under TCG Rulings but allowed to use OCG Cards as long as the card has a TCG Printing same for worlds they only get to use OCG cards that have a Mass TCG Release 2nd Note Also during your video were you brought up you can use non YGO as Tokens you said You can have bandai cards in there That not entirly true. There have been some cases were even the Orignal Bandai YGO cards were not allowed. (I know its dumb they do not even look like Konami Cards) but there have been some case people reported they were told by judges to remove the bandai cards. and 3rd Note You brought up Proxies not being allowed. This is 99% True the 1% goes to if a Card is damaged during a Tournament and a Replacment can not be done the Head Judge can allow a Proxie to be used for that card but the ruling is That you write the damaged cards name, stats, and Effect on a paper and put it in the sleeve with the damaged card. (I know this was done during a regionals I attended years ago) But again you must not be able to tell the card face down. If the deck is not sleeved then the Damaged card is removed from the deck No Proxy is issued and the players Deck List is changed to have that card removed from it.

@@neferacronia6798 1. You can't use OCG cards in the TCG no matter the situation 2. If you play a foreign card you must be able to present a readable copy to your opponent at said tournament. One of my friends lost a game against a guy playing a full German Sky Striker deck that did not have extra copies of his extra deck in English (this took place in Arizona and no one at the event spoke German.) The Sky Striker player was doing other shady crap so we should have sharked him but we missed the chance when we decided to do it.

The public intoxication rule is pretty interesting to me. I’m not into competitive YGO (love these vids though), but am pretty involved in the smash bros melee scene. It’s not uncommon for people to bring in bottles of beers and liquor to tournaments. There have even been tournaments advertised as 420 friendly events. A huge part of it of course is that these most melee tourneys ARENT Nintendo sponsored events but the rec culture goes up all the way up to national tourneys where events are sponsored by Nintendo. I’ve never been to a yugioh tournament before, but a lot of card shops in my area have hosted tournaments for melee. For the most it seems like the ygo players are generally more calm than the smashers.
