I'm just going to say it right now. This guy is probably the best golf instructor on KZfaq in my opinion. He's easy to understand, doesn't talk too fast, doesn't go into way too much detail and has short videos that somebody can watch and actually comprehend without getting lost. Just phenomenal, every video!

Could you add a video with club choices for these type of chip shots? Our technique might be correct but the club selection is wrong. Thanks!

I've only just found this video but this has to be one of the best informational golfing videos I've ever seen. For example, with the chip shot, too many times I've been told "play it like a put" which hasn't always made sense...this video drastically helps provide much more obvious information about how and why! Thank you very much Chris, legend

Thanks Chris. Really enjoyed this video. I’ve been practicing some of this out on the course prior to your video and am starting to see improvements. Just joined my first club. Also I tried out some of your tips on the course on Friday regards ball then turf (adjusting mindset that ok to get divot) & putting, where you were talking about trying to be more instinctive. That coupled with some of these tips helped me greatly. Thank you Chris. Take care. Kindest regards. M.

I do like the toe down when chipping, but I found there is an adjustment for distance. With strike closer to the toe, the ball doesn't come off the face as crisp. Even with less spin, it requires a little longer swing than I was used to. But it's a great tip when the lie is questionable.
@brianwood1451

Good tips. Any chance you could help with the short sided chip when in a bad lie please? This is the I struggle with and, trying to be too delicate, can duff it nowhere! Cheers Chris.

High loft wedge, 56 to 60. I personally use a 58 but if I want a bump and run a 9i. Each shot on its own merit but good to practice with the intended club/s. I often deliberately hit short on social games to practice around the green chipping as it can make or break your score. Alternative is to be a 20ft master with the putter haha

Hi Chris. I love the vids as always. Could you please please help? Where I play, the greens are slow all year, even Summer. What is the best approach? Do I hit the ball harder? (Just afraid that will lead to a wristy putting stroke). Get a heavier putter? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks so much. Peter

Really useful Chris. Do you pitch and do chip and run shots with the club? Perhaps a 56 degree wedge etc. Or do you use a straighter face club for the chip and run? Thanks very much fir your help

Great video Chris..just a few question for you..1. I like to use a 62 around the green and short chips. What is your preference. 2..I am looking at the new slim irons cb..just wondering what are your irons and thoughts on the Taylor made slim irons..thanks

Great practical advice & tips Chris! I use my 5 hybrid alot from around the green for shots that do not need any height. I find that it takes the ground out of the equation and I can just concentrate on feel and distance. I am very consistent with this and hit great shots close to the pin.

Me too Peter, 4 hybrid putt choke down putting stroke, works well when you have a lot of green to work with.

@@GolfTechie79 I also find that it is robust and reliable under pressure. I can chip well with irons but I prefer the hybrid 'put' if I am feeling under pressure.

Dear Chris, another great video from you , thx you very much, I'd like to ask how to toplay chip shot around green with rough turf or even hard muddy area, the club i'm playing has few holes with those horrible hard muddy (they cut the grass too short, consequently became neither hard earth or mushy mud (after the heavy rain), I had a terrible around, with those situation, had thin / dugged into the mud, as the bounce could not be used in those situation... please help... because of those condition, I missed 4 birdies chance, very hard to swallow .....many thanks Johny

In my last 20 rounds over the previous 6 to 8 weeks ..I've had only 2 rounds with scores above 80 (82 and 81). The other 18 rounds have been scores between 71 and 78. I know who I have to thank. Me! I've worked pretty hard .. but .. oh yeah .. this CR guy did give us the tools to get there. So, thanks to him ... too .. I suppose. (heavy sigh).
