Epic Upcycling is by far my favorite woodworking channel. I've been watching him for over 3 years, and he hasn't uttered a single word. It's all about him building beautiful pieces out of junk wood such as pallets and old furniture he breaks down. When he's through, you'd never know it was built from junk wood. Always amazed with his hand tool work, often times using dovetails, half blinds, and stopped dadoes. He only puts out a video every 5-6 weeks, though. I urge everyone to give him a view. He deserves far more subscribers than he has.

I got your channel from a search a few weeks back for the laser made french cleats. I own a 100w co2 laser and designed a few and wow what a difference. My speed squares are not all over the desk anymore. I'm hooked. Then got to busted knuckle last week and lived the goofy attitude but no nonsense about just doing it and then he spike about you again and discrimination to your channel along with his suggestions i never heard of. I was already discriminate to a lot of the ones you gave a shootout to like diy montreal, jesper, dainder etc along with the big ones but your 5 never heard of and live the description and will check it out. Everyone deserves a bit of views especially when spoke of like that from people i enjoy their work. Thanks for this. KZfaq's algorithm sucks. My history has been turned off for a long time. Accidentally click on something? Let's keep sending you the same video suggestions OVER and OVER. Block that channel, no problem. They'll continue to send you videos from that channel. Oh you liked that video? Wanna see it AGAIN, and AGAIN, and AGAIN? Very hard to find new content.

Hi Mark, I am totally onboard with you sentiment here. For me as well as yourself, its Dean at woodwork journey, what an amazing guy!! and over time I have naturally migrated to watching more of the UK content providers, such as Northern Works and Sumeray Builds, as I feel they are more "real", to those of us in a small workshop. But I still follow the likes of Stuart at proper DIY, Ragnbone Brown, Badger Workshop, Peter Millard and the Gosforth handyman (you will recognise there is a common theme to all of these guys!)

He is so inspirational as a woodworker. you mentioned the people who inspired me to do what I do, Keith, Peter and Matt at badgers workshop, along with matt Estlea are where I started. And I am glad I did.

Great video, some of these channels I’ve already found and like you am amazed by the skills out there. I found Flynndogg a few weeks ago and thinks he’s great. For me, Woodwork Journey with Dean has all the commitment needed to inspire not just others with similar poor health issues but all of us. Keep up the good work.

Mark - thanks for those recommendations for a tasting menu of new channels - whilst people like you seem to be going from strength to strength with viewers and subscribers I suspect it’s getting harder now to start off and get noticed. One suggestion for your next recommendations is (for me) to highlight the people that have a bias towards handtools. This seems to be your preferred approach (or is it because you’ve only just build a bigger workshop?) - but personally I find it a bit less interesting when a channel is dominated by the use of the table saw. I’ve learnt so much from Rex Kreuger, Paul Sellers and Matt Estlea this year (and love your humility and “give it a go” attitude Mark) - power tools have their place of course - and for some people that’s all they want to do. But is there really any better feeling than taking of slivers of wood with a freshly sharpened No4 Stanley Plane bought from eBay for £25 and reconditioned to full working order (thanks Paul and Rex for tips on that)?
@startmaking1
@startmaking1 4 ай бұрын
Hi Matthew. You are welcome. Thank you for watching. Love the channels you watch. I consider Matt Estlea as the one who first made me think I could attempt woodworking. I love the idea of a hand tool recommendations. I do plan to do this yearly so a twist would be great. Maybe a Chanel from each category or 2 videos. Great idea though, thank you. And the hand plane feeling you describe is why I can't walk past a stanley in a poor state without buying it. It's a problem lol.

For some reason I have got hooked on woodworking channels, and have only just started to do stuff. Mainly what needs to be done around the house, and thankfully have a son (who is in the building game to help me, and have a giggle at me at the same time). Not seen many females tho, despite my name, I am a female. I have recent stumbled across Wallybois Woodworking, who has a depth of knowledge, and also a sense of humour which comes across in his shorts. Will be going the ones listed in you into....

Thank you for your insight. I subbed to your channel because I was impressed with your approach and attitude towards woodworking and, of course, the humor. I am always looking for new ideas and approaches to inspire my own journey, you have provided that. I am subscribed to almost all the channels you flashed on the screen and have found myself in a rut looking at just those few channels because KZfaq "suggests" them to me, based on previous views. You have given me some control over that process again. Again, Thank You. Wayne

Wasn't sure where you were going at times (some silly toys, I think, that made me wonder....), yet, I stayed for your honesty and positivity. Hi Mark It's watching content like yours and many others you mentioned that's inspired me to start my own channel, I haven't put out a video yet and there will be a name change (so don't search KZfaq for Make The Day lol) I just haven't decided on a style of video to make yet as I don't like talking on camera and I think my Birmingham accent is awful. I do wish that other popular, well known youtubers would follow your lead and help promote the little guys who haven't yet found their feet.

And , not for nothing, but I am from Wolverhampton and nobody has said anything about my accent. And I believe there are plenty of YT channels with Brummie accents. Average Joes joinery if Im not mistaken. Anyway, my advice is , make a plan, decide what channel you want and just give it a shot. Who knows what will happen.
