One year later how do I feel about the JBL EON One Mark 2? Well as a gigging musician (guitar and singing) I explain to you the top 5 reasons to PASS and 5 reasons to PAY for the JBL EON One Mark 2, why I bought the JBL PRX One, and what you should do if you are just starting off like I was a year ago.

Deleted comment reply about using the EON ONE with PRX the app update has 90% of what I wanted haha. I event called the "+ and -" thing if they couldn't make the sliders better. If youre asking if you would use the JBL EON ONE Mark II WITH the PRX ONE Here are my thoughts that I will put into a video that isn't 30 minutes haha. The iPhone app though the plus is BY the fader and I accidentally tried to do a + and it hit the channel from 12 to PLUS FORTY and ultimately did a big feedback. Big design flaw in the iPhone and also again the need for that QUICK kill switch. 1. There is a difference in volume of course (mathematically its 30% more one the PRX 2000 watt vs EON 1500 watt) 2. There is also a sonic difference. 3. There is also a software difference. I can't remember off the bat but there are more things available on the channels as far EQ or FX on the PRX one if I remember correctly. The app works beautifully with both connected to my iPad. I've done this thing where I use my XVIVE in Ear monitoring system with 3 receivers. One for me, one for PRX one for EON. So via Logic - I run my one transmitter and essentially the speakers are Dual Mono (left and right) wirelessly. I noticed at the same gain on all receivers the channel is hotter in the EON one (weird) Then I wanted to check if I muted one speaker could I sonically hear a difference. The answer ultimately was yes. When doing music via bluetooth the answer is actually harder to determine. I run via Logic because I (think) I like the sound of my Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 preamps more than the built in 6 channel mixer on the PRX. I'm also totally fine running direct to the PRX then MIX OUT to the Eon One. But when recording a quick song on my logic, playing it back, and then muting one or the other to hear it there is a difference in sound quality in live music. Which is what I use it for primarily. The two speaker array in the PRX vs just the top on the EON makes a huge difference in quality of sound. BOTH units in my opinion (and pls your feedback is welcome) struggle mightily when hitting the upper echelon of their volume. I'm talking yellow line on the channel, red line on the front. I like to take off the limiter (and AFS) so I know the sound coming out and you definitely hear on the EON the struggles when it hits the peak. Its much harder to hit peak on the PRX which is good, because when its close its noticeable - which im not even sure if I have the limit on the PRX actually. OVERALL - having both in dual mono (and maybe stereo one day) is such a BLESSING though. Its definitely overkill for my Sofar shows but the artists appreciate it (go watch one in your area! Sofar Sounds) I thought having the PRX and eventually a Bose S1 Pro + or EON One Compact was going to be my move - but the compact want connect to the Pro Connect (missed opportunity) and I can presume it won't satisfy what the EON one gives, albeit not what I want. If I didn't have the PRX and say had two JBL Eon Ones in dual mono in a situation where there was no power - you would look like a fucking wizard you know haha. I got the JBL Adaptor USB to 9v (USB to 12v also avail) and you can do so much on their batteries. But when you have them side by side - the gear head in me is saying Okay - now I gotta go PRX One TWO and have the Eon One Mk2 as my backup or possibly somehow as a monitor. For what its worth my team at pro audio at Guitar Center says this If you want more mids go with JBL If you want more clarity go with Bose (L1 Pro 16) But all our ears are so different and rooms are different. I'm constantly told my setup is the best (even when it was just the PRX One or sometimes also the EON One but more of a lower standard for Sofar I think) Unless you're doing a side by side PRX One dual mono vs PRX ONE + EON One dual mono - you won't know. If I could go back in time though. I have gotten the PRX ONE first, and a second PRX One to run stereo. So if you can afford it OR you make money with it, run that credit card or get that 0% financing when applying for guitar centers card haha. I hope to make more content, which originally was going to be heavy with bars and restaurants and drinks (the mix) but I actually stopped drinking so I think im going to continue to showcase how I mix sounds for myself at my gigs in the Bay Area and hope I have some cool content. I work at guitar center so buy most things now with my discount so hopefully can continue to do so. I appreciate you comment and hope you go through my TED Talk haha.

I think the SPL of the mk is 118 and not 130. That why its peaks. The prx is 130

Excellent content! Only suggestion, this video at 30 min is too long for most people. Break it up into 2 15 min parts will be better. Might want to look at the EV Everse 8 as your Aux speaker.

Thanks for the vid. A little two technical at times for us layman. IMHO you buy the mk2 because of battery power use knowing it's not for big gigs.

It's interesting the marketing (or lack of) for this unit. I will say in most instances and occassions I've never been asked to "turn the music up" - normally the opposite. Other than losing maybe 10% volume when on battery - it's quite the conversation starter when im playing live and there's no power cable running through to my system. I'd say your thought process is correct - but it's not really obvious when I was shopping for units.

Thanks to your recommendation, I upgraded to a PRX. I'm really more satisfied in every way. Thank you. I have a question. I didn't turn up the volume much, but I'm curious about whether a slight white noise phenomenon or a slight wave sound can be produced by any speaker.
@TheManTheMixTheLegend
@TheManTheMixTheLegend 8 ай бұрын
White noise can be generated by anything yes. You'll normally get it though when you push your mixers gain if the signal isn't strong enough. So when you get into the 16db and or higher you'll def have a higher chance for white noise. If everything is clean you might have issues with a channel being on and high db but not used. So make sure your channels that aren't needed are also muted. Channels that are in use and still producing white noise - like a guitar plugged in - find that balance of guitar volume and PRX volume so you have your best white noise to signal ratio. The problem would be when a guitar has a really low output even at max volume. Even when I connect my phone to the JBL I keep my phone at 2 clicks down from max or 70-80% volume then push the channel volume, and normally keep the PRX volume at 100% and adjust the independent channels to the level needed for the space. Good luck!

What if you buy 2 prx, and one ecoflow river pro, to power them on arrival, then finish setting up everything else

I had the problem of clipping when using my IPad Pro Bluetooth or wired. Turn your iPad down and see if that helps. That worked for me. Signal was just to hot.
@rafaelunplugged
@rafaelunplugged 8 ай бұрын
yea so even when im on a clean signal on the iPad or any other channel keeping signal green, sometimes yellow, when you fully push the Eon One Mk2 the limiter feature will duck the entire column array. You can disable the limiter but risk the chance of blowing the speaker I suppose. I always keep an eye on the light on the front bottom to see if it's clipping (or in the back on the main) and it doesn't take much to activate the limiter feature. guitar and vocal and im hitting red - so that really just proves to me that this unit was just too small for my needs which it was really tough to deduce even after hours of KZfaq searching and even talking to Sweetwater and guitar center people. im hoping to kind of close that gap.

I do agree the PRX is definitely a stronger speaker but does not offer the battery power option. I think getting both would be a good idea. Battery power is a must for me for ceremonies and remote sound. I have a larger column array and 2 EON MK2’s

@@jmsoundproductions the battery option and 30 second setup for sure is a great Convo starter and impressive. If you're a solo musician and can only have one and have access to power - PRX one!

Having both I kind of hate using both as left and right and now want 2x JBL PRX ONE and the eon one def satellite / cocktail speakers. Hard to use them as stereo but wouldn't mind pushing the sound down a long hallway PRX ONE as main EON ONE down the hall or outside As a solo singer thonits mostly on stage speakers and in most instances the PRX ONE (One) is enough for all venues at 70-90% volume. I was always blasting the EON ONE MK2 At 90-95% hitting the red line to fill the same space. I also don't think I would sing on battery. The limiter always activates and your volume level is always fluctuating. Talking head and music no problem.

Why do the colors continuously change (while playing music and or vocal) on the LED dynamic lights? I am referring to the seven lights under the seven channel attenuator buttons. The colors change from yellow, green, red, etcetera. Thank you.

When in mixer mode each channel led will indicate the level of the signal coming in Green Is clean Yellow is near peaking Red is peaking If the signal is green and hits yellow sometimes I'm okay with that. Avoid red on the channels so it's not a dirty distorted signal Avoid going red constantly on the front LED to avoid breaking your speakers. This is usually when you hold the back button for 3s on the eon one MK2 which swaps to mixer mode and each knob controls the volume of each channel - not the EQ & FXs Good luck!
@TheManTheMixTheLegend
@TheManTheMixTheLegend 8 ай бұрын
Mixer mode is accessed on MK2 by holding back for 3 seconds and then each knob controls only volume on the track it's above Regular mode controls the item under the knob Bass mids high reverb etc Mixer mode is when all lights are on traditionally since there are no lights to showcase reverb bass etc Try not to hit red hha

those are not clipping, those are Limiters, it only limits the source sound or the master volume so you won't damage your drivers and subwoofer

Makes sense I was pushing it But with the AFS you'll hear the EQ change (obviously) and the limiter drops the volume os it's a strange sound to hear Moving to the PRX one def helps But also it's strange / hard to try to get it to a safe volume using the visual green yellow red Leads on the channels And also trying to watch the front LED that shows when the whole unit is clipping Coming from a traditional board The new update to the app is nice but still wanting

@@TheManTheMixTheLegend Or if anything, the light should be YELLOW, not red -right? As yellow hints that the gain staging is approaching clipping, while RED ALERT is a bit of an 'oh crap' signal lol. I sold my JBL mkii and ordered the EV30m. I will mission compact the JBL is but I lost faith in the unit after it died on me at two gigs. Sure, the warranty covered it, but still.....

@@GregoryGuay that's how I would understand it too. But after using them as standard speakers through a PA I'm less and less confident in them lol. Like the input level hits red but the limiter for the main / full out (in front) isn't reacting. Like. I never feel I have full volume control of these damn things lol Plus the ipads don't have any indication if your units are clipping like the EV app does. The EVs are killing it rn but I'm in too deep with JBL rn 😂😂

@@TheManTheMixTheLegend Although I just read that the EV30m does NOT save preset mixes. That sounds too dumb to be true but will figure it out soon. I do love the JBL saved settings for my variety of bands and such. Check out my new release, SANTUARIO, with Gregarious Grooves Trio if you have a minute! Until my EV30m comes in, I am lugging around my 65lb TurboSound ip2000, which is overkill for the small venues I play solo acoustic rock or jazz trios.

Sorry but I run 2 of these and with the AFS engaged I can stand DIRECTLY in front of these with a sennheiser 935 without issues, Also the max SPL (db) is 123 on mains and 119 on battery.

EON ONE Mk2? You know I've had the AFS engaged and sometimes the sound shifts (obviously because of the EQ changes to kill EQ) Which version of the AFS do you use? I'll definitely give it another go thanks for that feedback. How do you like the new app? I love that they ended up going the route I suggested with the + and - buttons haha. I also feel like even on AC power it still struggles once it's reaching that peak output, but I think I should reapply the limiter to protect the speaker. I'm obviously just in need of a stronger system for my gigs already. TWO OF THEM ON BATTERY is so cool to have a stereo system without power. I wanted to throw an event at this beach side that has 1 no power and 2 no cell reception haha.

If you have power for your units - the PRX ONE has much better sound clarity and volume. I would almost say one PRX One would be better than two Eon One mk2s. Almost. Lol BUT! Since you have two eon one mk2s that's a great setup esp to cover a stereo space (left and right) I am a professional musician and upgrading to two PRX ONEs with an Eon One compact for a monitor might be my move but the Eon One Mk2 (esp 2) is a great combo for starting professionals or a HIGH QUALITY pair for home use.

Hi, would you get any problems busking with the JBL eon1 mk2, playing mainly Elvis backing tracks and singing only? would the sound be ok using this speaker? or would you buy a different speaker like the JBL PRX 1 but maybe that would be too heavy? Something with good sound as I think the backing tracks would need good mids and lows, what do you reckon, any help is very much appreciated! thanks
@TheManTheMixTheLegend

I honestly love the Eon One Mk2 and only upgraded because I needed more volume out. But now having both and depending on your situation - I wish I just got the PRX One right away and now owned two PRX Ones. The volume output is why, and I am a gigging musician. The weight for the units are identical, but with the PRX ONE you just now have the top speakers on a different bag but you almost don't notice it (just don't forget them!) If you're always without access to power the eon one MK2 is great but in big open spaces you will realize quickly you'll hit peak volume immediately and the unit (both actually) struggle at near full volumes. If I didn't need the output Wireless setup EON ONE MK2 Eon One Compact (as stereo or monitor if needed) And I think that combo would be great. If you have access to power, and make $100 a gig/busk. JBL PRX ONE all day With both sections being speakers (eon one has a spacer) the volume and sound quality is superior. 1500 watt for eon one 2000 watt for PRX one But 25% more wattage really to me feels like 200% increase in quality so I think is worth the upgrade. $1299 to $1750 $451 additional is well worth the $1000 sound upgrade in my honest opinion. I might opt- to make my eon one MK2 a monitor with the speaker right onto the sub at waist height haha. Hope that helped

I think the mk2 would be fine! For busking, you're not playing for 300 people sitting down in a field, you're playing for people walking by 50', 5' in front of you and the portability of the mk2 is great.

Are you saying the T4S or T8s can be controlled by an ipad or that y9u can control the 3 channels on the L1 System with your ipad? I know the latter is true. For my needs the reverse order makes sense Connectivity. Power. Sound. And price of course. If the T4S could've been ipad controlled then I would've gone Bose for the price but I couldn't find anything about when connecting the T4 into the L1 System the ipad app would recognize all the channels. Is that the case?
